Waikane Store

Must stop before or after Kualoa Ranch!! The best chicken and a unique sushi roll. I believe it was And the best people ever. We walked in, they were so happy to see us as if we were family. They gave us samples ups on samples before we ordered . THE BEST CHICKEN. It’s tiny inside, only standing room for 7 people. No tables or chairs inside. We took it to go but so worth it. I’m not sure why it’s so good, must be the sauce? It’s a hole in the wall, so don’t expect something else. I don’t think there was anything vegetarian on their menu, but they have some convenience store things like granola bars, candy, drinks, Mexican Coca Cola etc

I came in here for the friend chicken and left with a sushi and genuine aloha spirit. I stopped by this place because I was recommended by a friend. All the fried chicken in the planet should taste and feel like this one. The service showed off (without exaggeration) the most genuine form of aloha spirt I ever felt. They were not even trying, that is just who they are I guess. Tasty sushi too.

So glad we were able to stop at this small local shop. The owners are so warm & friendly. We got there quite early so they only had the chicken & tuna rolls available. They were so kind to give us samples to try even though they didn’t have to. It’s so pleasant to find business owners that are so humble yet take so much pride in what they do. Our kids enjoyed being welcomed by the “fried chicken” inflatable noodle guy. The owner told us that’s how you know they’re open - “if the noodle guy is there, we’re open”. Definitely take the time to stop by if you find yourself passing by Waikane.

We stumbled upon this funky little store because we were in the vicinity and just wanted something quick to drink. We got something to drink alright and some ice cream, but boy was it a great experience! The owner was super funny and we had some great banter. In the end the owner gave us a sample of their fried chicken and it was truly amazing! I'd absolutely recommend it! All in all, it was a super wholesome experience—a true gem in this world of chain super-mega stores. Btw, we sadly have no photos of the food because we gobbled it all up quickly and vigorously 😂

So lucky we stopped in for water. Ended up getting fried chicken and futomaki. Chicken has great depth of flavour and the futomaki was perfectly seasoned. Alden is clearly passionate about the food he makes: notably high quality ingredients and the motivation to earn flavour through skill and quality rather than shortcuts. They are nicest mother and son team and they brought joy to our day, I would stop there any time I drove by and will probably go out well out of my way for more!
