I’ve had fond memories of eating at this restaurant back in 2014 numerous times, I ate here once back in February 2018 and just ate here tonight (january 2021) and I really this is one of my favorite places to eat in downtown Kalamazoo. The service here is pretty good and there are a lot of amazing fixtures throughout the restaurant that help make it a cozy atmosphere and even tropical decorations at one section of the restaurant. For dinner tonight, I got the ribeye steak which was pretty good and I got a slice of their cat meow dessert which wasn’t too bad either. Another cool thing about this restaurant, at the entrance at the area before you get to the seating areas, there is an area where you can buy ice creams and other kinds of stuff here. Overall, I did enjoy my experience and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great place to eat in downtown Kalamazoo.

We visited on Valentine's Day, so take that in consideration with this review.
The decor of the restaurant seemed more fitting to a breakfast or lunch location, lots of greens and browns; Less moody, more earthy. Which felt off during our dinner.
We were able to select a shared cheese and meat plate that was very good, allowing us to pick from several unique options to form our perfect dish, each a varying array of prices. The only negative part was the provided "cracker" wasn't that spectacular. It was a little too crispy and came in several large sections.
Our meals were small, which isn't necessarily a negative on its own, but mixed in with a $20+ price tag it was a little underwhelming. Although it's important to note that I'm not much for fancy dining. I personally feel that a cheaper meal from a simpler place would have been much more enjoyable.
Overall the food was good, the drinks were tasty, and the staff was friendly. I would say it was a great experience. Unfortunately, I just don't know if it was quite $80 great. I may return to try their lunch menu instead.

We enjoyed a great evening at Food Dance and it was our first time here. The servers were very friendly and timely with our needs. We really enjoyed the crab cakes as a shared appetizer. We ordered the Pad Thai and seasonal pasta dish and they were fantastic. I highly recommend Food Dance as a great place to eat and enjoy the evening.

The food was great! I came here with my dad, and he said it was as good as he remembers. The service was stellar too! Our waiter accidentally spilled water on our crab cakes, and he gave us more for free! The interior is very cute as well :)

My breakfast dish was A-MA-ZING! I had eggs with spinach and artichoke served with a delicious orange-cranberry muffin! The service was first rate and the ambiance was great. Definitely one of my favorite Kalamazoo restaurants!

Every dish is delectable and just so well done. From the moment we walked in the door, we were welcomed with great service, a helpful server/hostess, and good atmosphere. You would not regret this experience!

Amazing place, incredible fresh entree's and their attention to detail is tops! If you have a private event, please choose this venue! Working with Megan was the icing on the cake. All details carefully planned out, great communication and incredible service. Highest praises for FoodDance!

This place is always amazing! The food is all made from scratch with locally-sourced and organic ingredients, the place is trendy and always super clean, and the service is par excellence! If you're in the 'Zoo, definitely make this one of your food stops!

First visit and we'll definitely be back! The salmon dish my husband ordered was so delicious I could barely grab a taste before it was devoured! My Cobb Salad with steak was amazingly fresh and delicious but it's definitely something to share with the table.

Great farm to table restaurant. All of us at the table (8 adults and 2 kids) enjoyed the meals we got. The starters were well portioned and the mains were expertly constructed.

This is a great place if you're looking for a high-end, fancy, restaurant that cooks great food. As with any high-end place, the food is more on the pricey side, but definitely worth it for that special occasion out.
Since I live very close to this restaurant, I have eaten here many times for birthdays, special family events, and having dinner with a large group of friends [which they did a great job accomidating]. Each time I go, the food is consistently well prepared and tastes delicious. They have a good selection of food for both breakfast and dinner [haven't been here for lunch], and you can never go wrong. Along with the main food on the menu, they also have a front area that's a deli and bakery. Here they sell various meats [ex. prosciutto] and baked goods [cupcakes. cakes, pastries, etc.]. Although I have never purchased any meat from Food Dance due to its price, I love getting dessert from them because it's always amazing. I personally love their large cupcake, however, all their desserts look delicious. Along with food they also have some cute cooking utensils and whatnot.
If you're looking for a fancy place to enjoy great food this is the place to go. Whether you're stopping by Kalamazoo, or need a fancy place to eat, there's something on the menu for everyone.

The latter was so good. The fries and the home made ketchup great.

I visited Food Dance for brunch with my Dad and we were both very impressed with our meals and the outstanding service we received. I enjoyed a homemade macaroni and cheese meal with a cinnamon roll appetizers and apple cider mimosa. Food dance is a welcoming, talented restaurant and I am looking forward to coming back soon. My dad said many times that his breakfast was the best meal he's had in a long time.

Love the atmosphere of Food Dance. So happy there are back open! One of the best brunch places around! Look forward to any more weekend meet ups for brunch here! Service is always great and friendly. Always relaxing and never feel rushed to get in and out.

Great restaurant that serves a wonderful breakfast/brunch with locally sourced products. They have a great mixologist who's created super yummy drinks and cocktails too. I'm sure the other meals are great too, just haven't tried them.

Absolutely fantastic service, delicious food and wonderful ambiance. Had the roasted brussel sprouts, fresh tomato soup, gorgeous hamburger and topped it off with and affogato and some apple crisp. Kirsten was an excellent server, consistently checking to see if anything was needed. Definitely a must stop for food when in Kalamazoo.

We visited last night. In our opinion, the sign out front was kind of an eye sore and was a little misleading about the type of restaurant but once we got inside we were pleasantly surprised. The staff was nice and friendly. We weren't very hungry so my husband and I decided to share the pad Thai with a side of pomegranate wings. They split the pad Thai in the kitchen for us which was nice of them. We LOVED the pad Thai. Great flavor and a perfect amount. My husband loved the wings too but they weren't my favorite. After dinner we checked out the shop that's connected to the restaurant. A little expensive but nice things.
Overall we loved our experience. The staff was very friendly and the decor was unique as well.

I sent back my food and they dumped salt on it. The manager was polite! It took an hour to get the food! I spoke to the manager who was nice. I am feeling sick! I threw up and they did nothing but laughed it off. I emailed the owner. I do not mind paying the price but the kitchen staff dumped a full thing of salt than laughed it off. I will never come back. I am very disappointed.

Not overly impressed. The atmosphere is nice and fits well with a farm to table theme, but the food was mediocre. Went simple with a burger but it arrived undercooked for a Medium Well request and rather bland to the palette. Even with the Chipotle Mayo. The house made ketchup was reminiscent of an underseasoned tomato sauce. The staff was very friendly and warm, and our waiter Reese was attentive. Not likely to become a favorite of mine but perhaps for some.

Fresh and delicious food for dinner tonight! The staff was wonderful and accommodating to our group with young children! A special thanks for putting together a charcuterie box for our flight. I can guarantee we will have the best food as we head home!

LOVED this place! The gluten free menu ( I recommend the duck), lovely & fun atmosphere & art! Perfect dinner date place

Love this place. Food is always so good. I had the Cobb Salad. My salad fed me there, and it, also, fed me for Sunday's lunch and dinner. The food is always so very good. The waiter was excellent. Yes, I will be back again and again.

We have been here several times and the service is always top notch. The food however is a crap shoot. We've never had a meal where all lived up to the premium prices. If the burger is great, the fries are not. If the eggs are good the bacon is soggy. That kind of thing takes the shine off. Just sayin'.

We enjoyed a wonderful breakfast at Food Dance. The service was great....our server was professional and friendly. The food was so flavorful and a real treat. I will certainly go back and maybe try lunch the next time.

I had the bed and breakfast burger and it was delicious!!
I recommend going for lunch, they are a priced a little high but worth it. Dinner on the other hand seemed priced way higher then it should be for the quality of the food!

Great food, wait staff was enjoyable. Warm & inviting space.. Had a nice time.. Prices seemed a bit on the high side for breakfast..

This review is specifically for the Mother's Day brunch. By far the worst meal we have ever had at Food Dance. As a go-to location for us, we were very let down. We bring family, friends and business partners here monthly. The food is always good and service always professional. Yesterday however, we felt there were many mis-steps that were (mostly) a direct result of the restrictive menu for Mothers Day. At 9am when we arrived, the bakery was still assembling trays of items and were very put out when we asked for coffee as we waited. As for the menu--No substitutions for any menu items. No upgrades (we wanted loaded home fries), we could not add or delete veggies to egg dishes and THERE WAS NO TOAST SERVED. Yikes. How crazy is that? Food Dance has AMAZING breads...but you could not get those yesterday. Egg dishes came with a "pastry basket" that included various scones, breads or biscuit options. That detail was not noted on the menu. The potatoes were barely cooked...boiled redskins with some salt. No texture/no crisp. This service/menu for yesterday leads one to believe that the mgt wanted to get people in and out and were so presumptuous as to assume that people would "deal with" the menu. It was to the customer's benefit. If it isn't...why do it? As a restaurant vet, if you run set menus, A) Take reservations for seating times. *They did not take reservations. B) Make sure that the menu is clear as to what is included and what can/cannot be done. C) Deliver the message (of the set/strict menu) in a positive way that presents the info as a positive that will benefit the customer. We heard lots of apologies and dismissive sighs at our mentions regarding the menu/rules.
We will be back--over and over--but this was a poorly executed service that will probably keep us away next year for Mothers Day. This is a great restaurant with lots to offer--we just wish we had a better brunch.

The crab cakes were good but cold. Same with the flank steak. It was cold in the building but my food arrived cold. My waitress was friendly but absent. Not in a hurry to go back

I have long time appreciated your fantastic food and great service. However I wanted to provide some helpful feedback. I was at a dinner party this past weekend with many fans of yours. The conversation lead to your recent wine list and lack of quality options. In the past we have found your wine list to be creative, delicious, and well done. My friends and I agreed that lately it has been far less than what we would expect from you. Offering poor choices and quality I could buy at a very standard family restaurant. This will effect your business and my patronage as I enjoy an inspirational wine to accompany inspirational food!

If nothing else, I come back for Rob!!! Absolutely, hands down the best server/bartender in Kalamazoo! The Mac n cheese was pretty awesome too
Matt Hoffman
Bacon was good. Sausage was good, and so were my scambled eggs. My pancakes when they arrived at my table were not even warm enough to melt the slice of butter on them. The tiny syrup container was half empty when delivered, and it took us 10 minutes to get it filled. Definitely not worth the $40 it cost the wife and I to enjoy a mediocre breakfast..

This was truly the most wonderful meal I have had in ages. The goat cheese fondue was scrumptious, the Kalamazoo gimlet amazing ( and the chef gave me his handwritten recipe for lime cordial) the pad Thai subtle and delicious. The service is perfectly timed. The garden salad was exquisite, fresh, perfect. This eatery is a gem.

I love this place. This is the second year in a row we have celebrated our anniversary there....and we live in Chicago! The food is excellent, the cheese trays, the vegetarian entrees, and the desserts...omg the desserts. A great, great restaurant.

Amazing food, people and ambiance! Highly recommend the dance beet sandwich...#amazing

Went to Food Dance for breakfast. Eggs and coffee were cold. Home fries were burned. Friend asked for sugar free syrup. It took 5 minutes to get it. Also asked for crispy bacon, it wasn't. Sent it back and got crispy bacon. Another friend asked for a scone and didn't get one. When he asked where his scone was they said they were out. It was 9 a.m. They were not busy so I'm not sure why service was also bad. Only went here because friends wanted to go here. This was the first time in about 4 years we have gone there because of same issues in the past.
