Review Romana's Italian Kitchen - Johnstown

It was another Tuesday and we were not in the mood to cook and as usual every place you wanted to eat at was closed. We had not been to Romana’s in a year or so and that was a shame because I wish I ate this dish yesterday. She had the Eggplant Parmigiana and I had the Chicken Mediterranean. Her Eggplant dish was very organized and plentiful with nice breading and sauce that tasted wonderful with a bit more finesse and flavor than you would normally expect. You will probably be bringing half home for another delight later. I was going to get the chicken Mediterranean salad and the waitress thought I meant the dinner so I corrected her and she then described the dinner dish and I switched my mind from the dinner salad to this dinner dish. Hands down it is 1 of the very top and best dishes that I have ever had. It Melted in my mouth with an explosion of lemony butter and a hint of white wine which enticed my pallet over and over. Just look at the pictures! I had intended to eat half which in reality you could have eaten a quarter but no way! It was magnificent and cosmic with explosions of well developed textures and flavors. The price is not to be looked at because they could charge more and you would still say wow! this is a lot for the money. Thank you for reading and remember, tell them “some Guy” sent you.

Food is decent. French fries are consistently over done and taste like the oil is in need of changing… Several weeks ago when we ordered I received a over cooked, half dollar sized “chicken tender” in my order. We shrugged it off figuring it was a one time thing. Fast forward to TODAY and it’s happened again! (See picture) Now I feel obligated to say something about this, no one wants to pay roughly $12 for six pieces of chicken and over cooked fries then receive bottom of the barrel chicken pieces.

Upon arriving in Johnstown, NY the family owned and operated Romana's Italian Kitchen has been our go-to spot for a family-friendly environment with a home cooked meal that is quick and satisfying. We always walk away with food for the next day - and we are family of SIX! Our kids love the vibe and we love the service. Even if the item we requested (Buffalo chicken calzone) wasn't on the menu - they made it happen! It is a diner and the apps are quick to cook and easy to eat. Are we looking for perfection? No. Are we looking for a place that loves our four kids and serves us well? Yes. It fits the bill for us and we highly recommend it.

Had the Chicken Mediterranean salad. Nicely done, this restaurant has a good following. 👍

The food was quite awful. I think pizza is hard to mess up but this was really bad. I couldn’t eat more than one slice and if I weren’t pregnant and starving I probably wouldn’t have finished the slice I did have. We are new to the area and the first place we ordered from (which was amazing) was unfortunately closed. So I figured an Italian restaurant would know how to pizza- right? Wrong! The pizza came cold (over an hour when we were told 45 mins, a mile away), there was hardly enough cheese to cover the sauce. The boneless wings?? Looked like chicken was just pulled off the bone of a regular wing- there was not breading on them and they were in strips mostly. $32 for a large pepperoni pizza and one order of wings seems far out there for the quality we received. I’ll never order here again- or recommend anyone else to. Large chain pizzerias have better pizza & wings than this place.

Great costumer service. Food is always top notch. I love around here and this is one of 3 places I prefer within a 20 mile radius. Ps they only 10 mins away, but I am picky so I have to go out of my way to find food I like.

Service was outstanding! Food was delicious, generous portions. Highly recommend.

I ordered a steak grinder and it was just gross. No cheese and I don't know what kind of roll this is and the green peppers with whatever taste like sauce. Just gross.

My girlfriend and I ordered take out from hear last night. What a mistake that was. I ordered garlic pram wings, which were dry and had absolutely no flavor. I also ordered a small meatball grinder which was burnt and dry as a bone, not to mention cold. My girlfriend ordered a mushroom and sausage calzone and ended up throwing it out because the Sausage had a funny taste. This is one place we will never order from again.

My second time here and once again I’m not impressed. Terrible and overpriced. Came in here tonight I ordered baked ravioli and she got broccoli and cheese stuffed chicken. We shared an appetizer of Mac and cheese bites,,, let me say almost if not all of our food was frozen or came out of a can,, the ravioli, frozen. Mac and cheese bites, frozen. (Frankly I can get better ones at cumbys for 3.99 compared to 7.99) But in my eyes the biggest let down was the broccoli and cheese stuffed chicken (breaded of course) which looked and tasted as if someone took it out of the freezer section of Walmart, slapped some cheese on it and decided to charge me 10$ for it. It had a funny aftertaste and was just awful. I let the waiter know but he couldn’t care less. I’d say the freshest thing there is the fountain drinks. Not worth 53$ Never again.

Always great food,I moved to Florida 20 years ago and this is my first place to eat,have been a happy customer sence the early 70's

We have never had a bad meal there. They are very organized and staff are very friendly. The food is delicious

I love this place. Their food is excellent and the service is always great. A must visit when you come to Johnstown! The prices are good too!

Last night, I was charged twice for our drinks! The total what our food costs. The drinks where $2.25 each (x 2). Then at the bottom of my receipt you get the total w/ drinks included. So it was the total plus drinks again $4.50 then the tax which the end total was $35.90. The person who cashed me out was very rude and just kept telling me I was wrong!! Been coming her for yrs! NOT a happy customer!!

Wonderful service and wonderful food. The portions are amazing for the affordable price, when I get the chicken penne I'm able to have it for lunch for the next 2 days. The pizza is amazing, I could live off it. The servers are very friendly, pleasant, and on top of the game. It is a very welcoming environment!

Very poor service had to ask for silverware so we could eat our dinner.We also asked for a coffee refill that we never got .Never again very poor service.

First time there stopped on our way from Rochester to Hudson Falls great food , great service, great prices , we will drive the hour plus to come back again .

This is a must stop when I bring my family to visit the grandparents. We've never had a bad meal here.

Great staff. Very cozy. Prompt service. And large portions. Great place for family or couple. AWESOME FOOD! Our family loved it.

This is why my husband and I stopped going. Ordered the Black and Blue Filet w/shrimp but without the blue cheese, waited a long time, came out wrong, people in back of us got tired of waiting for their food, they walked out. All I had was plain angel hair with butter because I was so pissed off, not sure who is to blame the kitchen staff not reading the ticket correctly or the waitress not writing it down correctly. Anyway last time I will go there, same reason I stopped going to Sam's Steak and Seafood., so sad, can't even get a good meal.

One of my favorite places to go.. I love love love the blue cheese and I always get fried dough with sauce and cheese. I just went there last night for my birthday dinner and it was awesome. I had the italian feast and french onion soup. There was a little wait before someone took our drink orders, but the waiter was apologetic and very friendly and accomodating. . I would highly suggest you take the time to stop in and try it out..

Great experience, my first time there. The portions are generous , the food is great and cooked perfectly and the staff were all very nice and prompt. Prices are great too. Will definitely come again .
