This is probably the best location where someone can own a Russian restaurant. In this quiet place the Russian river is just in front of you. This restaurant has a good size, can hold at least 30 people and it is well arranged and orginized. It seems what they do here is entertaining people. The eating part is just one item of their entertainment. It is also the place where people can come and socialize while playing musical instruments, solving puzzle games ets. Because the food is not the main purpose of this establishment but only supplemental, the variety of food choices is very limited. There were only 4 items available during my presence and it was a buffet style; serve yourself and have a good appetite. Even though the food choices were limited, they were prepared well and tasted delicious. They decided for you what is the best to make you satisfied. And, i believe they achieved that goal undoubtedly. Overall, this restaurant's environment is pleasant and satisfactory except for a few things that i wish would be different. First, it would be nice if they provide gloves for one time use just like in Zizzlers restaurant to take buffet items. It is in addition to what they already do- sanitation. Secondly, i was not exited to hear from a restaurant hostess a warning about using too many plates. "If i do, i would have to wash them. " Well, i used 3 plates, and i did not mind to wash them later. I agree, we need to save water; perhaps, that is why i was asked not to use more than one plate. However, it would be better to use eco-friendly disposable plates and cups. Finally, the fair price for the food i ate is somewhat uncertain because i do not know about how much money and efforts were used to make it. However, i can estimate the price by comparing how much i would spend for the same amounts of food in other restaurants like in Kauai, Hawaii and San Francisco, CA. And, i came to a conclusion that the market price would be around $25 plus tip. And, that is exactly what i "donated" for my meal. Lastly, my experience was limited in this restaurant because of my tight schedule to be in the area; nevertheless, it was enough time to make a conclusion: it was worth to visit. Also, it is possible this restaurant will be moved to another even better location in the near future. Recomend, keep checking on line to find out where that place will be.

Truly unique experience. Spent more time over there than originally planned - just did not want to leave. Yes - you have small menu of tasty food; be sure to ask Polina for her amazing tea. Leave the fare amount for food in a jar. Enjoy the views!

Wwoooowwww Russian Old believers food in California?! It's really hard to find in Russia lol How is this possible? Because Russians came to California in 1802 and build Fort Ross (must see). Payment of conscience! Wow! Where can you find that? Only in Jon Bon Jovi restaurants in Jersey....

I don’t know how people can complain about something that’s free…. I thought the food was delicious anyway and the staff was kind. My CHRISTian friends enjoyed discussing with some of the staff about their spiritual beliefs, given the amount of New Age looking material around the Russian House. Thank you for the piroshki and tea, delicious! And the view is fantastic, it’s so quiet when the cars are not passing by. Building looked well kept, volunteers are doing a fantastic job

A unique place that accepts donations in lieu of a traditional style restaurant menu. The food is hot and ready to be served and it works like a buffet table. Take what you want and pay what you think is appropriate. I know some of the staff personally and they are hard working men and women who put their heart and soul into this establishment. Thank you for all your hard work!

This place was one of the most unusual experiences for us. You can take whatever the restaurant offers that day and pay as much as you think necessary. It is especially weird for California. The food we got was good though, and it was nice to see some Russian speakers as well.

Feels like at home. Eat what's offered that day, pay according to your ability/courtesy, enjoy peace and beautiful view, be welcomed by nice people. And if you lucky to bump when someone is playing any kind of instrument usually available there, even better!

Very unique, eclectic stop on the Russian River. Beautiful surroundings in nature. Fresh food, coffee, tea etc. is served. You give a donation. There is no actual charge. Sit outside and enjoy the river view & flowers. We found it cause we needed time our of the car. Relaxing.

They have 5 to 10 dishes already prepared. You take what you want and eat at their tables while exploring Russian games, puzzles and other stuff. They seem to always have vegetarian options. Afterwards you pay what you feel the meal was worth. If you are in the area and looking for a new experience, it is worth a try. They accept credit cards and cash.
