Review Whiteway Delicatessen - Jacksonville

Alright, been here 2-3 times now so.... Good food, very good service, better than average drink prices and good spot to hang out at. I've sat at the bar first visit and a table the next two and service was very good each time, even when it got busy. Food has been good on all visits, though I have to point out that the Medium Garlic Parm chicken wings are YUMMMMY! Kitchen seems fairly quick getting the orders out and the server took very good care of us. I wish I remembered her name, great server/bartender, knew the menu very well and was able to give great recommendations. Always cool to have a person like that. Beers were serve cold and fast :) Cocktails were done right and they have a good selection of spirits/liqueurs (they don't have a wall like MOJO #4 but only a very few do). I would visit here just to have drinks but their food offerings are tasty enough not to partake. Last visit, A friend had the blue cheese burger and fries that looked great and will definitely try next visit. He said it was well-done and on point.

Whiteway deli is awesome !! I love kickbacks but this is the quiet little place down the way who holds just what u need until 2 am in the morning. That greasy comfort food the wings were crunchy on the outside and smooth and juicy inside the morning burger is perfect for my keto diet.. no buns extra lettuce 2 eggs over easy and 2 patties of heavenly goodness cooked to medium to medium rare.. and if food isn't enough they have 2 bars . ..

Went by Whiteway and was surprised to hear they are open until 2 am...on a Monday. Check their hours, Kickbacks isn't the only spot serving up late night meals. We ordered the cheese bites for an app, it shared easily with 6. The two of us went for the white way classic burger and the Rueben (sub taboleh for sauerkraut), added one side of fries. The ranch is also worth noting, for my fellow addicts. Maintaining the original menu with the addition of a full bar. Great reopening, glad they are still around.

Good food, great service, decent drink prices, and decent overall value. Had a party of 10. Food took 45 minutes and came out in sections rather than together. Kitchen goofed up 2 orders and the server took care of it. The checks were not divided correctly for the parties at the end. Otherwise, decent experience overall. Great server who knew the menu and was able to advise us as some of the party were 1st timers. Very grateful for that. Highly recommend the sandwiches especially their specialties.

Food was just ok. Not really a deli. I ordered the Caesar salad, and it was so tiny, that I asked for more lettuce. Wings had a great taste, but weren't crispy enough (and we even asked for them to be well done). They have some work to do to improve the food, and it'll be a great place to hang out. Nice decor.

First trip to Whiteway for me was a quick pick-up order. Cuban, fries, wings. Friendly girl took my order and answered all my questions on the phone, food was ready exactly 20 me Ms after ordering (which is exactly what I was promised), and my food was delicious. The fries were amazing with a huge portion size for the price. I'll certainly go back again!

The hot wings here are so great! They are a great size and a good amount of heat. My husband and I come here atleast twice a month to get wings. It's hardly ever super busy so food comes out pretty fast and hot!

Hidden gem... This is a case of "Don't judge a book by its cover" which I find to be all too common here in Jacksonville. This place doesn't look like much from the outside (a good pressure washing would go a long way!) but it does have its own parking lot on the side which is fantastic! The interior is absolutely gorgeous. I could totally see myself just coming in for a drink and watching a game here, it's very cozy. The wait staff was super sweet and the food was outstanding. The sandwiches were really good and I cannot recommend their steak fries and onion rings enough!

If i lived in this area I swear this place would be my goto bar! I would be here every night! It has 2 bars inside with a bit of a rustic atmosphere. Didnt eat but the food looks good! They have Guinness on tap if you care for that as much as I do! This bar is one of four that the same people own and they all are really great places. You will like this place

They use local ingredients so the food tastes amazing! Even the house salad I had was the best salad I've had even with just a few ingredients. This place is definitely a must try for everyone! I'm definitely planning on going back

Can we talk about how amazing their food is? Sharable fries are perfectly seasoned with every bite. Jalapeño poppers are juicy and tastey. Who hid this place away? Definitely would recommend to anyone.

It can be a little hard to find this place since there’s not really a sign but it’s worth looking for! Much bigger inside than it looks. We’ve only been during the day for lunch. The food is delicious and the service has been great! Update: Would not recommend the red fish tacos.

I mean in all fairness it was 1am on New Year's but I didn't expect the sides to be served cold. Maybe that's just how they do things? I took it home and heated it up and it was delicious. Happy New Years!

After eating here, I reflected on why, it was bookmarked on a list? The reviews were for the most part positive, so why not. The most positive comment I can make, it’s a long time local spot, where Sam and family who works here treats the customers like old-time clients Over the top friendly, it was my first visit and I was treated like a regular.

Delicious, outstanding service. Nothing says service like the owner standing with you to help you pick out a sandwich. I was having the most miserable day ever, and although he didn't know that, he packed a free cookie into my bag just because. Turned my frown upside down instantly. Another plus? The turkey and tabouli pita sandwich was seriously amazing.

Whiteway is my FAVORITE deli! The food tastes great and is always fresh. The owners are very friendly every time. Only one negative thing is they aren't open longer/weekends :(

Going for years. Grew up eating there, still eat there. Has always been awesome, never a disappointment.

Finally found the place. YEA Yahoo. Well I have seen the sign for Whiteway Deli on a building down the road and have look for it before. Well I finally found the place and I'm glad I did. Well this place is nothing special until you dig your teeth into a sandwich. Well I did and the New Yorker (roast beef, turkey, n ham) sandwich that I ordered was really good. The bread was soft an fresh and the meat was plentiful and tastie too. So the next time you are looking for this deli hang a right and it will be on your right. Drive Slow n Keep Your Eyes Open.

"Why haven't I been to this place before?!" is the first thing I said to my dad when I took my first bite of the Anne Beard sandwich (soft, fresh pita bread with turkey, tabbouleh, feta, lettuce, tomato, and banana peppers). It was delicious! When I moved home a few months ago my dad told me About this deli and how he liked the sandwiches, but his description have it no justice. Apparently this little place was smaller before they moved. It was nice and clean. The wall where the menu was hanging was surrounded by printed descriptions of the sandwiches named after different patrons over the years. Dad had the Dr. Berk (veggie tabbouleh with turkey). What really impressed me as side from the food and super friendly staff, was the boxes of photos of patrons. Next time I'm there I'll ask why they have them out by year. Either way this place is great and I am going to be going there more often even though I live across the river.

Addicted. The Anne Beard is the best !

A Gem. What a special place The Whiteway Deli is! Great food, excellent service, and a wonderfully unique atmosphere. To those who wrote that it is dirty ... so wrong. Very clean; just not your typical "chain" look and feel. If you want that look, there are fast food chains nearby. For the rest of us, we'll enjoy the food and ambience of a true Jacksonville institution. :-)

Nasty place. I can't believe how Drity and Nasty this place is.

The World Needs More Places Like This. Small, family-owned and operated, welcoming, great food. What else could you want? Don't let the other compliments about their having good Middle Eastern menu items frighten you if that isn't your thing. They have great "American" food, too.

Here's the drill for eat-in: Go in, walk to the back of the shop and see the menu items posted on the wall or on signs here and there. Order, pick up your own your own chips and drink, then sit down. They'll bring your food to you. They have great pocket sandwiches and the potato salad is to die for. I sometimes go there just because I'm craving their potato salad. When you leave, just tell the cashier what you had to eat and pay up. That's it. There's nothing fancy in this eatery, but they'll get you in and out quickly for lunch. Definitely worth a visit or ten.

It has been many years since I have eaten at Whiteway due to our company relocating. Had occasion to eat there yesterday 2/23/11 and was shocked at the price for two toasted egg sandwiches and two cups of coffee. Nothing extra, no pickles, no chips. Cost was $15.95. Were we overcharged or is that the right price? I read the other reviews with regards to cost, they said cheap. Not so I'm afraid. Will not go back again. Too expensive.

Lunch recon team hit Whitewater today for hamburger day. It had been a long time. None of us had been here since before they moved. The "new" location is so much better. Plenty of seating and room to move. The menu hadn't changed much. Of course, the hamburgers were great. Big burger on onion roll loaded with goodies. In and out, quick and cheap.

The bullet: Food A, Service A, Price A. Sam's new location still family friendly. I used to only go on Whiteway Wednesday when they did burgers like u make at home. Now don't wait for Wednesday. i also like their version of the cherry limeade.

We were looking for something different to try in the Riverside area and came across Whiteway... I'm not a fan of trying new things but I LOVED it! I had the gyro... It was fresh and so delicious! My husband has the Philly with lettuce and tomato (never had it that way before) and he said it was great! Even the sweet tea was amazing! The service was excellent and everyone there was so pleasant! We will be telling our friends about this place for sure... And will totally back! :)

Great family friendly... & tasty food. When you are in Riverside and you want a great meal from people that smile and care...Go to Whiteway. My favorite is Burger in a Pita... a Wednesday special.

Love It. The sandwiches at this place are great and I would fight somebody for their Cuban if it was the last one. Very homey feeling and you get that ecletic mix that I love about riverside. Its a little pricey for a sandwich but it is a locally owned place so I'm willing to overlook it.

Late Bloomers. When I was pregnant with my first child I ate here at least once a week... sometimes twice... I've continued to stop in usually every other week. Awesome food... Awesome People.

Try their Late Bloomer Sandwich... Turkey, tabolie, avocado spread, bacon, cheese, and banana peppers on a grilled pita. YUM

ohhh yeah, they recently moved across the street from the main First Guaranty Bank branch... just down the road on King Street... Nicer and Brighter location and lots of seating.

My morning was spent sitting on a golf course, in the rain, passing out business cards and coozies. Thankfully I had the foresight to bring a rain jacket, so by the time it concluded I was only half drowned. Before heading west on I-10 towards home, I decided to pay a visit to Whiteway Delicatessen. My first visit to the storied deli located in Riverside was thwarted by their early closing time. This time I made it with a few minutes to spare and made it inside before they bolted the doors shut for late lunch. Whiteway Delicatessen has been serving Jacksonville since 1927 when Sam Salem’s father opened the deli at Whiteway Corner. Mr. Salem was part of a wave of Arab immigrants to Jacksonville whose influence can still be felt today in the local cuisine. Upon entering I was greeted by several people milling about in front of two refrigerated cases. Behind the counter a trio of women collected orders. Whiteway’s menu is a series of printed pages haphazardly pasted along the wall

I'm not a big breakfast fan. Show me a place I can get a burger and fries or a blt at 7AM and I'm a loyal customer. Today I found such a place. Now if they get free wifi I just might move in. Whiteway Deli recently moved into new larger digs on King St. i

Riverside’s Whiteway Deli has one of the most Middle Eastern-influenced menus in the neighborhood, but there’s no mistaking that this eatery is 100% pure Jacksonville. It’s been a bastion of local color since 1927, when the Ramallah-born father of current
