Lupitas has exactly what you need from a Mexican restaurant. The food is authentic and tasty. They even have take out if you're feeding a large party.

Small family owned Truley Authentic Mexican scratch cooking! Stopped in as we were on a road trip, cooked to order and food was delicious 😋

The food is amazing! Tender, juicy, melt in your mouth meats. Spicy and flavorful homemade hot sauce! (Ask for it! It's green, full of flavor, and everything you want to spice up your food!). Perfectly cooked soft rice! It's a well loved small spot with a good amount of tables and counter seats. Very friendly service and food was quick. Cozy and authentic! We will be back!

Go here all the time. Fantastic food, excellent prices and the staff are beyond friendly and welcoming. This place is the reason I'm so fat. Highly recommend you stop by and try some delicious food.

Been going here for years. Ms. Lupita and Santos are awesome. The food is authentic Southern California/ Mexican style cooking and very affordable. Nothing is rushed, so just relax and enjoy the plentiful portions of great Mexican food. JAX best kept secret.

Pleasantly surprised! I rate Mexican restaurants on a single dish. However, here I was surprised to have a very favorable fish taco. Will be returning!

Authentic Mexican food, this is among the best spots for Mexican food In Jax, don’t be fooled by appearance this place undoubtedly is the supreme, top tier, food to feed the soul place to go. If you haven’t been you’re missing out, the only other place I recommend is a food truck in Jax beach.

Had authentic steak tacos! This is a small but family owned taqueria and cafe run by a husband and wife.

I lived in Texas for a good portion of my childhood and I had Mexican food at least once a week. I’m very picky when it comes to Mexican food and I’ll only eat it if it’s authentic. With that being said, the food at Lupita’s was amazing. I ordered steak fajitas and as soon as they were delivered to my table, all eyes were on my plate. Someone came in to pick up a to go order and ended up adding steak fajitas to their order because mine looked and smelled so good! The customer service was excellent and the food speaks for itself. I will DEFINITELY be returning!

Real and cheap. The beef in the enchiladas was very flavorful. Personally, I'm used to flour tortillas but corn tortillas are more authentic. Paid $16 for two meals.

California burrito is the way to go. Food itself was pretty good too. Owner/waitress was very sweet. Couldn’t believe how cheap this massive burrito was. Chips and salsa at no cost. Recommend

Had take out here last night! I must say, this is where I am going from now on!!! Compared to other Mexican spots in the area. This one is the best value for such large amounts of good food!!! They’re salsa is fire and even comes with a big bag of chips. My burrito from yesterday was so big , that I am going to finish it for lunch today!!!

Great authentic food. Staff speak a little English so be patient but they are very kind.

Arlington's best kept secret. I love this place! The food is excellent! Best fajita I've had in years, really tasty and huge! And they know what a true Chili Relleno is, you will not be disappointed, its a large breaded pepper stuffed with creamy delicious cheese. Not cut up pepper bits in cheese sauce like I've had in other "Mexican" places. The chips are warm, the salsa really good, and the chicken enchiladas are to die for. Do not pass this by! Subway is next door, but pass it up and go here! You will thank me!

On a rainy Thursday night a friend and I debated where dinner should be. We wanted close, inexpensive and not chain if possible. We did a quick social media search and found Lupita’s. Reviews were good, pics interesting and it was close to both of us. I have eaten here but it was so long ago, I had no recollection of my experience, and she had never been here.

Hands Down The Best We've Found in Jax. Family run, good portions, tasty salsa are just some of what we loved about this place. It is a hole in the wall, which was fine with us because they usually have the best food. If you want atmosphere, go to the Mexican place at JAX beach. If you want good Mexican food and great service, go to Lupita's.

Delicious Authentic Mexican Food. I've been here many times and have never been disappointed. The food arrives hot and the portions are huge! I normally get the steak quesadilla with rice, lettuce guacomole and sour cream. The nachos are also amazing. This is my favorite Mexican restaurant hands down. Give them a try, you will not be disappointed!

Great food. Everything I've had from here has been well seasoned, served hot and delicious. Definitely will be back.

Great Food. The portions are huge. The decor not much to look at but the food is fabulous. Very authentic . Exceptional menu choices. Consistent quality. It is run by Santos and Lupita who are a wonderful, warm, friendly couple. We have eaten there hundreds of times over the last 5 years and it never disappoints you. You leave happy, full and knowing that you will be back.

Great place!. Really enjoy this place because the food is always so good (great little hole in the wall Mexican Restaurant.)

Genuine in so many ways. We've been regulars at this hole-in-the-wall since 2008. The food is always delicious, made to order, and exactly right. Try the carne asada, fajitas, pollo loco, any seafood platter. This is a hard working family that extends that "homely" feel to all customers and earns your patronage. Happy Eats!

If you love Mexican food.... I read some of the negative reviews on here and think those people should consider trying Lupita's again. I have never experienced the things they complained about. The food has always been hot, fresh and delicious. Try their shrimp cocktail, you won't be disappointed. In my opinion, if you love Mexican food and eat here once, you'll be back again and again.

Read the reviews, my wife said best chili-relleno ever, I had menudo, fantastic. We will be returing. Great Margarita's. Salsa was authentic and the service couldn't have been friendlier.

Great Food. The employees are nice and the food is great. There will be no way you will leave this place hungry. If you do then you didn't eat.

Very very good!. This is the closest to Authentic you'll find in Jacksonville. Little hole in the wall run by Senora Lupita herself. Service sometimes slow cause its family run, Lupita herself is running the floor and cooking sometimes but the quality comes through. The Queso Chorizo is to die for and I haven't had a bad dish yet!

Fantastic authentic food, hole in the wall place...extremely reasonable pricing, and the portions are huge! The california burrito is as big around as my calves.

Yum Yummy ... Delicious.. Great food. The standard of food taste just like I was back in California. I tried several other Mexican restaurants around Jax but none could compare to Lupita's. Like all the other people...do not judge a book by its cover... Lupita is by far the most authentic Mexican food restaurant that I have tasted here.

Skeptical at first. Don't be put off by the exterior. I was, the first time I was headed here, I drove by and went elsewhere. After the good reviews here I said I'm going to try it. And it was pretty darn good. Salsa is awesome! I'd skip the queso, it was a bit too runny, but everything else was great. Very friendly service.
If you're on the fence about this place, give it a shot!

Great food. The place may not look great from the outside, but dont pass it by!!! The food was great, the best Mexican in Jax...The guacamole was excellent and not out of a can, their "yellow" hot sauce with the red hot pepper flake, is simply amazing. The service was fast and friendly. and a real gem for mexican food, dont pass it by, and judge by what it looks like from the outside. Defintely two thumbs UP!!

Not so good. First of all, I read the reviews because I was searching for a Mexican restaurant in Arlington. Also, a TexMex friend said he liked it. So, I was looking forward to checking out and hoping this would become my favorite Mexican restaurant. Well, it didn't turn out that way. The complimentary chips were out of a bag and barely warm. The salsa, which was made on the premises according to the server, was bland and watery. I ordered the Chili Relleno and bit into a spoonful of grease. The entire meal was even lukewarm and, once again, bland. So, I ordered the Sopapillas. And, once again, barely warm two fried colorless tortillas, lightly sprinkled with cinammon sugar, a drizzle of honey and a big wallop of whipped cream from a can. I had been advised that if Lupita's husband was in the kitchen that the food would not be good. He was and it wasn't. I don't think I'll be back for seconds. We'll return to hunting for good Mexican good in Arlington. So sad.

Simple and tasty. First of all, these people seem like some good hard working trying to make a living folk. It seems like they are there all day and night making an honest living.

The food is excellent, I typically eat there once a week as it is next to my office.

check them out

Great Mexican. Great food, especially the fish taco's. This is not an upscale trendy place, it's simple Mexican food. Only well prepared. When they first opened, English was a bit of a problem, this is the real deal.

Great lunch place, prices are good. Much better than La Nap, much better..

Good Food, No Frills. After noting that Lupita's had popped up as a review here in the Arlington area, I decided to come by and give it a try. First and foremost, please understand that if you come for a luxurious atmosphere, you're not going to be happy. Lupita's is comfortable, but it is a simple restaurant. They haven't invested much in terms of beautifying the property. The tables and chairs are comfortable, but not designed to impress. The walls are a tableau of painted images that display a love for the place, but the environment is simple. The exterior is very plain and may chase some people off.

However, should one overlook the rather unprepossessing exterior of the restaurant, one will find that a wealth of tasty and reasonably priced options await the lover of Mexican food. During my visit, I was treated to a dish that was called, as I recall, Fajitas Texanas (or something to that effect, I did not bring a notebook to record the spelling). This fajita dish comes with a great plate of simple Spanish rice and refried beans, guacamole, lettuce, warm tortillas (your choice of type) and sour cream. The filling for the tortillas is served sizzling hot on an iron platter that is, quite literally, heaped with caramelized onions, grilled green peppers, fat and tasty shrimp, generous portions of grilled chicken, and a healthy serving of sliced steak. I HIGHLY recommend asking them for the spicy sauce that they serve with it. I am unfamiliar with its name, but it is yellow and clearly has red pepper flakes of some sort. Its tangy, salty, and spicy kick compliments the very rich flavor of the fajitas.

Side notes worthy of consideration: Another reviewer did mention that the steak was a bit tough. Regardless of the fact that I wish to say this reviewer was incorrect, it was the truth. The beef was good, but it could be tenderized some. The salsa was fresh and tasty, but the chips could be a bit better if served warm. The guacamole was absolutely delicious. I opted to try the fried ice cream for dessert. I was certainly not disappointed with the flavor! It was very tasty, but it leads me to wonder if anybody really dips the ice cream in batter and fries it anymore. It was a generous portion of vanilla ice cream and it was clearly rolled in some manner of cereal or fried dough that had been broken into bits. The ice cream was literally BURIED in whipped cream, chocolate and strawberry sauce. For $2.50, I felt it was a good deal.

You could not ask for friendlier people than the two I met, who very likely were the owners. The woman who served didn't speak fluent English, but spoke more than enough to take orders and take care of business; it gave me a chance to continue working on polishing my Spanish. She said she's so busy working all of the time that she hasn't found the opportunity to master English. Her husband, apparently, is the better English speaker.

The next time I go in, I think I'll try the Pollo Loco, but I'm certainly not disappointed with my visit. I believe I shall return and I have no reservations about recommending the place to those that happen to be passing by.

Tough Meat. I wanted to like this place. The owners are very nice and I love Mexican food. However, the meat in my carne asada tacos was so tough and rubbery that it was barely edible. I did enjoy the homemade salsa. It was full of chunky onions and cilantro. To bad the chips were stale and flavorless. Sorry, I won't be back.

Great Food and Great Owners. Great food and real Mexican food. Best taqueria I have found in Jax. If you want real, it is here. Also, great value.

AUTHENTIC AND REAL and WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!. OMG! The Chille Renno is to die for! Rich, Fried, Cheesey and Decadent. If you are on Lupitor, don't order. Their California Burrito is massive. Reminds of the original Cali burrito in the Mission in San Fran that was on Man V Food. Everything is fresh and made to order and just like everyone else these days, trying to hang on. THEY ACTUALLY MAKE THEIR OWN SALSA!!! If you WANT real Mexican food. I mean REAL. Go to Lupita's. Mexican food is not all hot and spicy, but flavorful and rustic. I just love it. Support this family owned authentic restaurant, you won't regret it.
