Review Jj's Bistro De Paris - Jacksonville

This is a romantic place for a date night. The atmosphere is quiet, service prompt and food fantastic. They also have a wonderful selection of wines. We had the caprese salad, filet, and New York strip. Unfortunately we didn’t have room for dessert so we got macaroons to go. We will be returning.

First of all. This unique dining spot is quaint and delightful. The chef prepares amazing dishes for you to get lost in. Must must go. Friendly staff. Friday evening was slow which made me wonder if the prices could be driving away some clientele. Is the food wonderful yes. It is expensive, also yes. Up to you if you choose to indulge.

Amazing!!! I've had some wonderful meals in my life but this was by far the best food I have ever had. The crab encrusted salmon with risotto was rich and savory. It tasted like heaven. I even liked the beets, who knew?! I had to make myself stop and save room for dessert. Bananas Florentine, definitely worth the calories. My husband had the duck and it was yummy too but I would absolutely recommend the salmon! 😉

We stopped here for lunch and were not disappointed. Inside is lovely and very comfortable, but you can also opt to dine outside. Service was friendly and accomodating. They started us off with some fresh baked bread and homemade butter, both wonderful. The baked brie was a generous portion of delicious cheese in a wonderful pastry. It also comes with crostinis and between the two you probably have a meal in itself. My salad Nicoise with very good with a nice variety of items. There was only one anchovy, and I was a little surprised that's all they included. Tuna serving was generous and perfectly seared. Dressing was excellent. The also had the crab cake sandwich, the JJ's Carver, and the Combo Des Alpes on croissant. All well made with heaps of fillings and very good. Pro tip - ask for a side of stone ground mustard for your sandwich. French onion soup was hot and cheesy, and what's really nice is you can get a cup size which is a perfect portion to accompany one of the huge sandwiches. Now the desserts...we were too full to eat them there but decided to take them home. Be careful, they are $10 each except for the macaroons which are the only bakery item they don't make themselves. We had the fruit tart, the eclair, and the plain cheesecake, and all of them were outstanding. Probably the best eclair I've ever eaten. Would I do dessert there again? Heck yeah! Overall a wonderful meal that now has us eagerly curious for dinner. Note that lunch service ends at 1:30 and dinner starts at 5.

One of my favorite places to eat! Food is outstanding, but can be pricey. Not exactly a place to bring young kids. Atmosphere can be romantic, but it is simple. Service staff is very attentive, knowledgeable and willing to work a little to make it a wonderful experience.

Wowed and pampered. I’m familiar with many areas of cafes in France and they have created an excellent and calming rendition of these magical places. PS The delicacies are also very well represented here. Thank you JJ’s Bistro de Paris and Krista for the impressive quality and quantity of service and deliciousness! Tre bien ! Merci beaucoup!

My daughter and I went for a girl's night or and Jessica took very good care of us. Can't wait to go back!

Great place and highly recommend going. The food is always good, but it has gotten pretty expensive. It is a little annoying to pay 2x the price for a bottle of wine that they have sitting on the shelf when you walk in. The deserts are amazing.

Took my friend here for the first time, the food was Phenomenal. I'm a foodie and love sharing the best places to eat in Jacksonville with my friends. This is one of my favorites. The staff, owner and Chef are some of the best here. My friend has waited her whole 68 years of life to said "My comments to the Chef" and last night she found every reason to want to say it, after meeting the Chef she was excited to then say it to him. I Highly recommend this Everything from scratch French restaurant to any and all that want their taste buds exploding with flavors. Every stock, soup and course is made right in this kitchen from an experienced Chef, who is down to earth and gracious enough to come out of his kitchen to make sure our meal was perfect. Bravo for making our night out a experience that will not be forgotten!!! I am so glad this was the first restaurant I chose for my friend to eat at to break her out of Covid-19 self induced hiding. I can't wait to share with other friends and family my favorite restaurant (and now my friend's favorite as well).

Thus is a cute little restaurant in Jacksonville. It's a southern interpretation of a bistro. The decor is fun. It's moderately busy at the Friday lunch I went there. I had their quiche and soup. It was actually very good. The waitstaff were very pleasant and available but unobtrusive.

Absolutely fantastic! Ate way too much and enjoyed every dish. The Coquis St Jacques and mussels were extravagant. Will definitely be returning!

Fantastic little French place. The atmosphere is really great and the entire place is cute and decked out in murals of Paris and the like. The food came out surprisingly fast and it tasty for sure. I had the beef sauce dish, I can't exactly spell it, and a pear tart after. The beef dish was a little salty but perfectly cooked and the sauce was fantastic. The pear tart, in my opinion, was to die for. I'd gladly fly out down here just for the tart alone. Not to mention their entire desert list is massive, and when prompted, they will drag a gigantic billboard for you to choose from. Highly recommend it!

This place is fine dining food without the stuffiness. The food is phenomenal and freshly made. You are greeted like you are in France. If you are a goodie in Jacksonville, this is the best I have tried so far while travelling here.

Great place for brunch! Their desserts are amazing!

Fantastic staff, excellent food and great atmosphere over in the Gate Parkway area Southside of Jacksonville, Florida 😀

JJ’s was a wonderful surprise to me. Don’t let the strip mall address fool you. This is a “real” restaurant with a professional chef and serving staff. I ordered the special which was shrimp and scallops with tortellini and lemon cream sauce. Scallops are often chewy, but these were buttery soft and delicious. Jodi, my server, was friendly and attentive. She recognized some other guests that said they hadn’t been there in over than a year. That showed to me that she really cared about her customers. I can’t wait to come back here on my next trip to Jax!

We've never been disappointed with JJ's Bistro de Paris.  It's our default choice of restaurants when looking for affordable pampering.  My husband & I have enjoying this establishment for several years.  We've always been impressed with the attentive waitstaff, inventive menu, yummy meals, quiet artistic setting, and the ahhhhhhh feeling while dining.  We're not true foodies, but we do have fairly high standards, have traveled quite a bit, and expect good service.  We've eaten at both JJ's in Jacksonville and prefer the Bistro de Paris.

A favorite with the excellent service, food and wine. Best dessert selections in Jacksonville. Nice atmosphere for a romantic meal. A little pricy but they do have coupons.

Great little Bistro with classic French dishes as well as specials that combine traditional with more mainstream choices. Wait staff is exceptionally friendly and attentive, very good wine list, too. We had the crab cakes and the confit di canard (duck)... Outstanding. If you are looking for a break from the string of dull chain restaurants that plague Jax, Bistro de Paris is for you!

Decadent dark chocolate mousse. Excellent and very large portion too!

I love this restaurant and go there for lunch and dinner all the time. Always have nice dinner specials with local ingredients which I love. A very nice privately owned restaurant which I would recommend to everyone. Very romantic and great friendly staff!!!! Good job JJ's, we will see you soon!

Fantastic French Fare!. Absolutely love this place. How refreshing to enjoy a delicious meal AND be able to hear the conversation with my dining companions! I've had it with the chaos and clatter of most of the big chain restaurants in the Town Center. Let the crowds stay there because JJs offers the true intimacy of a bistro. AND THE FOOD was wonderful. My favorite is the Salmon with sautéed crab fondue. Beautiful thick piece of Salmon encrusted just right. Chose it over risotto w/spinach instead of twice baked potatoe. We had a cheese tray starter that was excellent and flowed into the (albeit small) salad perfectly. Despite us never ordering dessert we took the plunge (and brought some home). Finally the server's suggested wine was so perfect, we bought 3 bottles to take home. Our server paced the meal perfectly and each course was the right temperature. Our server was fantastic! If you read bad reviews on Urban Spoon, check out the author's other reviews. Generally there is a trend to their complaints.

I short i would like to warn about the cake and pastry they make is usually a week old they are not fresh totally not recommended if u hav kids who love to try desserts. I took a black forest cake and told it was fresh but when we tasted it i cant tell u enough how stale it tasted. I took the cake back to them and asked when they make it they told me last week and according to law it is fresh...it certainly dint tasted like. The staff was very rude and owner too started abusing instead of talking reasonably... I mean my party was spoiled and i should be the one getting mad...i just left their cake there.... Very bad experience trying to forget

This place is a JOKE. This bistro is OVERLY hyped up, mainly by the owner. I would pay good money to eat good quality food, but when the cakes are literally LATHERED in frosting, I just do not see the point! Those that work there act as if this is some top-notch upscale restaurant, and while the food is merely OK, the service/staff/owner is downright ridiculous. I don't want to beat a dead horse and rant about the bad service (seeing as that has been more than done with the number of negative reviews already), but in order to succeed in the restaurant business, there needs to be a sense of professionalism. To BAD MOUTH customers on the phone is absolutely APPALLING. I cannot express my rage. Turns out this has been done more than once with other customers as well. I will NEVER be buying a single overpriced thing from that place again, and neither will my colleagues. If the staff keeps it up, at this rate they will be out of business within a year. I just think it's unfortunate that me, being a restaurant critic, had to take being back-talked in order to agree with the majority of the reviews on this page. <br/><br/> I think it's especially comical when the lady answering the phone cannot even pronounce 'Bonjour' correctly. So long, JJ's!

At Home in Paris. I'm confounded why ANYONE wouldn't be raving about their experience at JJ's! I admit to being madly and passionately in love with anything that is truly French! A dear friend who grew up in France referred me and just like her...I was thrilled. The lunch menu was diverse and delicious. I had the goat cheese tomatoe bisque and I've thought of it almost everyday since! Actually...going today for more. The Caesar with blackened shrimp was good. But I was transported to Paris with the appertif Kir...and of course, dessert! This is the best coconut cream pie I've ever had (and I've had plenty)! The atmosphere is authentic to shops and cafes in Paris...great wine shop and deli too. You can get cheeses from France that you cannot find elsewhere in JAX. The take out macaroons are delightful. Thank you Monsieur Jean Jacque!

Food is bland and service is awful
Poncie
BLAH!. I agree with the others highly overated food was bland just lots of salt. I was taken here to be impressed by a date . We paid the check, left most of the food, still hungry, we went to III Forks AWSOME. We had dinner dessert and appatizers I hope this helps others, but this place is all hype because it's in a a big country town Like JAX. Would not survive in New York a day. But I am still dating mr wonderful.

JUST PLAIN NASTY. I am new to Jax by way of Orlando, and this place came highly recommend. Due the fact that Orlando has so many places for awesome desserts and French food, so we went to an awesome restaurant at Town Center rushed through our meals to get to JJ’s. First of all it is not the warmest atmosphere, it did not smell good at all and the customer service is like that of a restaurant in Paris, just plain, SNOBBY!! We ordered the lemon coconut lemon cake and a lemon tart. Needless to say I LOVE lemon! My husband did not get anything because he did not think it looked appetizing at all. Well I could not wait as soon as I got in the truck I took a bite of the cake, my face fell. My 10 year old has made better goodies in her Easy Bake. I would not even touch the tart out of fear. It was flavorless dry flourey, ok let’s cut to the chase, it was NASTY!!<br/>When I called the manger to advise her of the quality of the desserts, she advised me that they do not give refunds. This is America not France, it is in my opinion that they should pack their bags and head back to France where bad customer service distasteful attitudes and awful food is the standard. Just not here, you could have gotten a warmer reception from an Eskimo. Save your time and your money, if you pass by this place or someone mentions it let it go in one ear and out the other. Put it on your list of SUCKEY RESTAURAUNTS NEVER TO VISIT.<br/>Sincerely,<br/>Very Dissatisfied Customer
Matt
What a wonderful restaurant. Went the other night with my wife for dinner and they were very busy but still was able to have a wonderful evening with her. I guess they have a new chef and manager and we have been there many times in the past but this was by far the best time we have ever had. Perfect place to go out to dinner, wonderful food and service. I definently will be back!!!!good job chef and manager!!!!
FKR
Thank you Michelle for the great service and thank you to the chef for another wonderful meal!!<br/><br/><br/>-----05 Feb, 2013-----<br/><br/>Love the food and staff!
Chris
Great food!!. Been a while since we've been in and I'm glad we went back. Apparently under new management, and it showed. Our dinner was outstanding and the desserts were to die for. We will be back!!

Truth in Advertising!!!. I've gone to both JJ's in the past and have been extremely satisfied - gread food and service. I was extremely disappointed this time around when my husband and I both selected a prix fixe dinner at JJ's Bistro de Paris. The menu reads as follows:<br/>MENU SUD QUEST $30<br/>Choice of Soup (French Onion or Vichyssoise), Choice of Entrees (Boeuf Bourguignon or Coq Au Vin), Choice of Dessert<br/>Our server didn't disclose that "choice of dessert" excludes everything except cake. JJ's has a great selection of desserts, which you walk past as you enter the restaurant. At the end of our meal, we find out that most of those desserts do not qualify as "Choice of Dessert", so we each chose a slice of cake. Imagine our surprise when we were each given a half-slice of cake! Had we purchased the meal ala carte, the entree and appetizer would totaled $26, which means we paid $4 for a half slice of cake. Had we known, we would have ordered our meals ala carte and split the dessert we wanted and it would have cost us the same. In the interest of fairness in advertising, he server and/or menu should have specified that the choice of dessert was really a half-slice of cake. I wouldn't have expected this type of bait and switch from JJ's. :(

Romantic Atmosphere. If you want a place to get away for a bit with friends or even a romantic getaway this is it!! Great little secret. Food is awesome, but a pit pricey. The coffee and desserts are what my husband and I go for once a month for date night. It still costs a little bit but it's worth it!! The desserts are one-of-a-kind and HUGE!!! We go and play cards while enjoying coffee and a different dessert each time. I've been for lunch with girl friends and the food was amazing!! We all tried food from each other's plates and I could not decide which was my favorite dish. You need to experience it once and you will go back again, I promise.

Horrible Customer Service. My boyfriend and I decided to stop by here and get dessert and drinks. We walked in where three people were behind the counter and clearly saw us walk in. We looked over their pastry case which was filled with yummy goodness but after deciding what we wanted we waited around forever. Just staring at the three girls behind the counter with no acknowledgment. Our waitress actually came and got us. She was super sweet and was very attentive it's just sad that her other co workers were such horrible hostess.

Slow service and mediocre food. I visited this restaurant for the first time a few weeks ago and I was not impressed. The service was very slow and the restaurant was not even busy! How could this be? The food was just ok; nothing special and totally overrpiced.

Don't Overlook Take-Out. Most of the reviews center on the (quite good) sit-down experience, but I want to commend it as a take-out option--especially for lunch. For a quick lunch, their gourmet sandwiches are an excellent choice and ready within a very short time after phoning in an order. They even have a couple of dedicated parking spaces for take-out customers (a valuable commodity in this busy little strip on Gate Parkway).

Good food, but they lost me.. A girlfriend and I were driving in the area, mid-afternoon and when we spotted this place we decided to park and go in, just to look around, maybe get a pastry to go.<br/><br/>We spent a couple of minutes checking the place out, they have a few items for sale, a very small boutique type area when you first walk in. We wandered over to the case and after viewing decided we'd get some desserts to go. Then my friend decided she was actually hungry and so we took a table. There was one couple sitting outside and she and I made up the only table inside. It was about 4 pm.<br/><br/>My plan was to sit with her and chat, while she ate, maybe get a coffee or a lemonade, but not eat, because I had to get home and get dinner made for the family, dinner was planned for just 2 hours away, about 6pm. However as I gave the menu a quick once over, I noticed french onion soup on the menu, and I always like to try the french onion wherever I go. I figured a cup wouldn't fill me up, so I ordered it.<br/><br/>My friend ordered the french onion soup as well, and the roast beef and boursin sandwich. She liked it and said she'd order it again. She also felt like her child would like it and so took half of it to go, for him to eat. The fries that came with her sandwich were some of the best fries I've ever had and I'm so glad my friend shared them with me. I don't normally eat of the plates of others, but these fries deserved an exception to my rule. Yummy.<br/><br/>We both enjoyed the french onion. It wasn't spectacular, but it was good enough to order again. Our server brought a bread basket to our table with, what she described, was the butter for the day, and it was the best thing on the table. Ah-mazing! If I recall, it was whipped butter with dill, garlic, capers, dijon, and.......was it green onion? Can't recall, but it was fantastic!!<br/><br/>We discussed the dessert menu with our server and each decided to take a creme brulee to go. Based on what our server said we expected a dessert large enough for 2, with a striking presentation. What was not explained to us was that there was no "to-go" packaging made for the brulee and that it would just be turned out, with a spoon or something, into a large to-go box. We were excited to see the brulee and opened the to-go box right there at the table and were pretty shocked to see a messy pile of brulee just laying there in a pile on the bottom of the to-go box. And, it wasn't even half the size the server indicated it was. We had to call her back to ask if she'd misunderstood. We thought perhaps they had taken one order of the brulee and split it between us, hence the dumping of it into the box and the much smaller size, but no, we each got our own order. It was much smaller than indicated and that's how they send it to-go. Pretty disappointing. The creme brulee itself was good, but scraping it off the bottom of a styrofoam box really ruined it for me. :(<br/><br/>Finally, when we got the bill there was an extra dollar added on to my soup. Evidently if one has the soup as a meal they charge another dollar. I tried to explain that I wasn't having it as a meal, it was only 4 in the afternoon, that I wasn't even going to eat, but at the last minute I wanted to try the soup but thought it gauche to dip into my friend's cup, so I ordered my own and in no way was it a meal. So they showed me the afternoon lunch menu, which is apparently different than the regular lunch menu, where it states there will be a dollar charge for eating your soup as a meal. Bait and switch. Not cool. It would have been the right thing to do to reverse that charge, especially when a customer challenges it, but they disagree, so I take to social media to spread the word and warn others about this practice. I guess they would have preferred I just sit there and take up space, drinking water, instead of ordering a cup of soup, just to try.<br/><br/>I don't know if I'll be going back. While the food I had was good, it wasn't spectacular and trying to squeeze a buck out of a customer, in this economy is a real turn off.

Nice little place. I've been to JJ's several times, and every visit has been pleasant.. The staff is always very courteous and prompt, and the manager/owner regularly visits our table to check on us. They also have great deals for special occassions and wine sales. Vichyssoise, Insalata Caprese, and Mussels Provencal were very tasty.
John
Totally agree with the other reviews. I have been going to this place for many years, but during the past year the service, or lack of, is horrible. The quality of their food has gone down dramatically and their prices have skyrocketed. Will not go back"
Hungry Man
This place is way too pricey and the food is horrible, I expected more. Don't waste your time or money at this place. I heard the chef left and they are now running it with glorified cooks! Like the French say, " Le Pew"!!!!!!!

Loved it. The snapper almondine was great, especially the lemon beurre risotto. My gf had the vegetarian trio. Lots of variety for the picky eater, and everything was delicious. The chocolate cherry torte was awesome. A little pricey, but probably the best food I've eaten in Jax.

Horrible Service!!!!. I completely agree with other reviews about overpriced menu and BAD customer service. I was a long time customer, that introduced many of my friends to this restaurant. Lately, we notice dramatic decrease of customers in this bistro. I would relate it a lot to the customer service that you can get for the prices of "outstanding" restaurants. Unfortunately, my last visit was a nightmare. The management did not like my tips at my previous visit and decided did not serve me and my friend at all. Not mentioning, that our last bill was over $88 for 2 people, that we definitely paid in full. Anyway, we were waiting for the waiter for about 30 minutes to bring our menu. Service was horrible, if you can call this "service" at all, since we had feeling like they wanted to kick us out as soon as possible. When my friend went to the bathroom, waitress jumped on front of her and said: BATHROOM IS OUT OF ORDER!!!. Nonsense!!!!! We were completely dissatisfied with the customer service and definitely, never visit this restaurant again. I just do not understand how in this hard economic time when restaurants are closing one after another, management can treat their customers in such rude manners. They've got nothing special, accept the atmosphere overall, and that was the reason I used to like it.
Rp1007
I'd go just for the coffee. I find that restaurants skimp on coffee--not at JJ's--the coffee was just as delicious as the desserts. I'll definitely be back for more!

A Parisian Delight. When you walk into JJ's Bistro Southside location it's like strolling into a restaurant along the Champs Elysees.<br/><br/>We were seated in one of the side dining rooms at a cozy table for two. The waiter provided the appetizer and dinner specials and then took our wine order - a glass of Vouvray and cabernet.<br/><br/>For our entrees we ordered the Trout Almandine and the Grilled Black Angus New York Strip cooked medium.<br/>The Trout was light and served over and lemon Beure Blanc risotto and haricot verts. The New York Strip was topped with Shallots Maitre d'Butter and served with haricot verts and frits displayed in a table stand cylinder.<br/><br/>My first test of a great restaurant is wine served at the prime temperature and in the correct glass...check. My next test is temperature of the steak, which I ordered medium...check, check and double check.<br/><br/>My only issue was with the salad. Although it was a mix of more exotic leaf lettuce, it seemed that the prep person actually counted out the number of pieces to put on the plate.<br/><br/>A definite new entry on our monthly list of places to eat.

OMG this is the best jax has to offer!!! Love the tomato bisque and eclairs however there is VERY slow service for dinner and you HAVE to try the alpine cheese plate!!
Eating To Live...
Paris & a Pedicure. That's the kind of day it was. Lunch at JJ's Bistro de Paris, which is located in the same strip mall as Bella Diva, where it's very convenient to relish in Jax's best pedicure. The food at JJ's was good. I had a grilled chicken salad and my husband had a tuna melt. His sandwich was so-so. My salad, which was quite plentiful was also so-so. The blackened chunks of chicken were a bit tough on top of a field of lettuce and plenty of other salad veggies. It was a bit short on vinagrette though, but it was tasty nevertheless. The service was very good as we were dined after any lunch crowd that would be there. I'd like to try it again to see if it's any better. I really liked the french decor. Paris & a pedicure is the perfect name for a ladies' day out. I'll take my girlfriends next time to get their opinions and from that determine if I'd go back again.

Love it for lunch and desserts!!. I never knew this place existed until recently and it is my new favorite lunch place. I have only been early Saturday afternoons and it is fairly quiet. The food has always been excellent, subtitutions/omissions are always taken and I like that there is always a different special sandwich/crepe/salad everytime I go. The prices are reasonable, but I can't resist taking a dessert or two to go which usually turns our 20-30 lunch into a 40-50 one... The desserts are just too fabulous to pass up. As a bonus, they do have a small kids menu with typical kids food that satisfies my 5 year old.
Troll Girl
Food is excellent. Desserts are amazing. I've been here a bunch, but today the service was poor. Server rushed us thru lunch and dessert, clearing plates early and asking for dessert choices before we were halfway thru lunch. She had an attitude when we didn't have the payment ready fast enough. We were out of there 40 minutes after arrival. I usually meet friends here to catch up but if I won't anymore if I am forced to eat so quickly.
Thefoodcritic
Very good food. Always willing to make substitutions. Decadent desserts! It's a shame they don't make omelets on Saturday morning any longer.
Michael Thornton
The food was very bad and service was no better. To make the entire experience a complete nightmare they refused to honor their own coupon. They said that even though we paid $20.00 up front, we had to wait 24 hours before they would honor. What a crock.. PLEASE NEVER EAT AT JJ's BISTRO de PARIS.
John M
Good food - very leisurely service. Lunch today was a light and delicious vegetable quiche with a side of a good pasta salad, followed by a remarkably good Creme Bruleé from the very extensive dessert menu. The espresso suffered from the NE Florida crappy coffee syndrome.<br/>The pace of service was very French. Prices were moderate.

French food, French food, desserts, desserts. I am thrilled to say I have found a new favorite! They are open for lunch and dinner and if you've just watched Julie & Julia or read My Life with Julia, you'll want to come here and sample everything.<br/><br/>I have been hearing of this establishment (and French Pantry) for a while now, and I was finally able to take a long lunch (requiring me to work at the crack of dawn so I can do this) with my college foodie friends, Cathy and Marian. The entire place is a bit Disneyish, but a big Eiffel Tower graces the inside where cute café style tables and chairs fill the cozy space. Murals in muted reds, blues, beiges, and greens add to the ambiance. It is chic casual, and I loved it. Even more lovable about this place is the plethora of desserts we passed in the glass cases. Lunch options range from $8.50 and $14.95; I ordered a cup of tomato bisque, one of the lunch specials of herb crepes with chicken and vegetables ($9.95) with a creamy balsamic vinegar reduction sauce, and the hefty "mini" dessert sampler ($15.95). (I went way over budget, but I was ravenous that day). Cathy ordered the same lunch special crepes with fries and a cup of French onion soup. Marian ordered a cup of tomato bisque and for lunch, the quiche with a side salad.<br/><br/>My meal was divine; the soup was creamy with the right tartness and sweetness for a bisque. The crepes were deceptively light but with the filling and lovely sauce, I could not get past 1 crepe. This was my favorite part of the meal, savory crepes. Cathy said her fries were a bit heavy (peanut oil can do this) but well seasoned, and she fully enjoyed her French onion soup. She loved her crepes as well. Marian was not used to light texture in her quiche, but she admitted it was her being used to heavy cheesy Americanized quiches. <br/><br/>Finally, the dessert, oh, the guilty pleasure. With over 40 selections (dessert options are written on a blackboard for you to drool over), it was difficult to choose so I opted for the chef's tasting option (4 half slices of cake). When it arrives, on my plate, there are 4 huge slices! (This is a half slice, YES, my kind of place!) We were warned by the waiter about the amount, but who cared??? I had chocolate raspberry mousse cake, blueberry cheesecake cake, chocolate banana cream pie, and tiramisu cake. Not a fan of any chocolate/fruit combo, Marian was thrilled to have the chocolate raspberry confection. The rest was heavenly, moist, luscious, sweet but not overly sweet: just what a dessert should be. Pie was light, flaky with a light-as-air chocolate filling; I saved the rest for sharing with my family that night. Cathy's plate contained the lemon crepe cake, chocolate mousse cake, chocolate cherry bomb cake, and pumpkin cake. One cake slice (was it the lemon crepe one?) was a tad dry, but the rest of the plate was delicious. Wear your stretchy pants if you're doing this dessert sampler. This sampler is meant for sharing.<br/><br/>One loyal customer had the pecan bourbon tart with vanilla ice cream which he described as the "pecan pie on steroids." So he graciously allowed me to take a pic of his favorite dessert; too bad he would not let me sample his, too. Pictures of this meal will be posted later on my blog at jaxfoodiefreak.blogspot.com as they would not post here (for some odd reason). Stop by here, wear stretchy pants, and practice your French! You will return.

Roulade. JJ's had a fantastic German Chocolate roulade. The food is quite good, and they have some really nice french wines.

Loved this place, romantic and great food. Wondered why it was so empty, but don't care ... We had great food, service, great everything.
Jax Restaurant Reviews
Cozy and charming are the perfect words to describe JJ’s. Wonderful French accordion music fills the air and you dine in a space that does an amazing job of allowing you to forget where you are for an hour or two and relax in the streets of Paris. JJ’s Bistro de Paris is a small fine dining French restaurant located on Gate Parkway near I295. The space is very inviting and attempts to whisk you away to another time and place in Paris. It actually reminds me a lot of the Paris hotel in Las Vegas. There’s even a decent sized Eiffel Tower replica in the restaurant. For the last week we’ve been in the midst of coming up with our list of the top ten most romantic restaurants in Jax. I’d heard JJ’s Bistro de Paris might fit the bill so I thought I’d stop in and see for myself if it might be a good candidate for the list. For the first 15 minutes we were there I was convinced JJ’s would be a place we could recommend as one of the most romantic in town. Unfortunately as the food and service spoiled the environment I was saddened to realize we just couldn’t recommend it.
