OUTSTANDING SERVICE, food was fine. We had dinner with friends who rave and rave about Blue Bamboo. Service was exceptional across the board. Cucumber cocktail was refreshing and tasty. Appetizers were flavorful and executed well--we chose crab ragoon and the zucchini-- fried whiskers Both were excellent.. Entrees were of a generous size. Chicken Thai curry was excellent with enough heat to be both flavorful+balanced+spicy and the veggies were perfect, with enough bite. Husband's make/choose your own bowl was a bit underwhelming. Dinner companions entrees were generous sizes and they cleaned their plates...one had a pork chop that was incredible. We ended the meal with a slice of the famous cake. The slice that came seemed to have some freezer burn --the cake layer was literally dry/hard. So while it was award-winning some time ago, our slice to try it the first time was a disappointment.
We stumbled upon this wonderful restaurant in what can only be described as a divine intervention. I'm particular about restaurants and this one is a standout: excellent service, a creative menu, exquisite presentation, lovely interior, affordable pricing, etc., etc. Do yourself a favor and try it!
I met Chef owner Dennis Chan when he first opened Blue Bamboo in 2005. Not your usual “Chinese” I quickly converted to his “Hip Asian” style of presenting the classics, as well as his signature dishes. Chef Chan put his own spin on dishes we all eat and has shaken up the status quo for Chinese food diners in this town. As well as some amazing food, once monthly you can indulge your senses in Dim Sum on Sunday and if you find the time take the cooking classes also offered monthly. For the full story as well as the schedules posted on the restaurant web site, you can sign up for the news letter to receive notification of all events or even purchase Chef Chan cookbook.
Blue Bamboo is one of my faves. The food is very good Thai/Asian and the chef is cool. He teaches a cooking class in the restaurant the last Saturday of every month with a different theme every time. I've gone to quite a few and learned a lot. Also a good, placw for tapas style dinning with friends.
As someone who travels the country's for a living and loves great restaurants, we stumbled upon this gem. Wonderful service and a great meal. Wine list was plentiful and Shelby our server was really knowledgeable. This is a place I will frequent when I travel to Jacksonville.
People need to support this restaurant. It's an amazing "big city" restaurant that we have been gifted with here in jax and it's superb and owned by Dennis chan, one of the top chefs in jax.
Personalized. Chef Dennis really made our visit special. We learned so much from what he had to say and he was very attentive to our vegetarian needs!
This restaurant is not your traditional dim sum restaurant where you are served by people pushing carts around offering steamed dumplings. Instead, you order your dumplings from a waiter. The food is more upscale and pricey. It's a nice place. I'd go back again.
The food in itself isn't a lot, but with a large group of everyone ordering a few things, it's plenty of food. Great atmosphere, difficult registration process.

Blue Bamboo is one of my favorite restaurants. I have been there a dozen or more times in the past 18 months and the food is always consistent and delicious. The prices are fair for what you get and the atmosphere is always relaxing and easy. I have never had bad service or an unpleasant experience at this restaurant. Blue Bamboo is one of Jacksonville's dining treasures.
Always have a great experience here. Food is awesome, people are lovely and we felt cared for again this time. Wanted to write a review to say the generals cauliflower is killer and the orange cake is deservedly award winning!
Delicious pan-asian cuisine. Modern, clean atmosphere with a robot waiter bringing the food. Makes you wonder if you should leave some batteries as a tip.
Absolutely amazing!! Food was great, staff was wonderful (ashley!!) Portions were a perfect size. Look forward to coming back.
Todays choice for some Asian cuisine for lunch was definitely the right one. Upon entering the large and spacious interior I was greeted by the owner Chef Dennis and Manager Tina. Both were so welcoming and had great smiles to share with me while being seated. My waitress named Lacey was also very kind and professional. I ordered the tasty and savory ribs that came with mixed vegetables and white rice recommended by a friend. The food delivered to my table by robot "Booey" was fresh and delicious. The portions were perfect. To compliment the great tasting lunch, seating was very comfortable. The interior clean and super roomy. Parking is conveniently located on the property. Looking forward to my next lunch and/or dinner visit soon!
Egg rolls crisp and delicious sweet and sour chicken excellent made fresh when ordered and chicken fried rice authentic not too greasy very tasty. Orange cake to go incredible... love the whipped cream icing.
We've been talking about going to this restaurant for quite some time now, but we always find a way to go somewhere else instead for whatever reason. Last weekend we finally decided to go and just had an amazing time. The waiter (I wish I could remember his name but he's worked there for 6 years) definitely knew how to spark great conversation, communicate the details of many menu items, and make us feel very welcome. He had a touch of sarcasm, but that's my kind of style and I appreciated that. We started out with the barbecue duck crisps and they were phenomenal. Quite crispy! I also had a crispy honey glazed shrimp entree which I loved, but wish it was a little bit more food. Finally, we ended with a tea-based creme brulee that was delightful. Our server mentions that it wasn't too sweet and he was spot on! Side note: a funny anecdote was that my girlfriend and I kept on laughing a little because they do have an electric bus boy and serving machine of sorts. So much so that we ended up looking online to see how much one of those things cost and we're also laughing at how awkward it can look sometimes while also seeing how other customers were staring at it. Overall we really had a wonderful time here and would definitely recommend it. We'll definitely be coming back.
First time trying the famed Blue Bamboo. I loved the atmosphere and kitch of the robot waiter. It was also lovely that Chef greated every table. We did pre order of Lobster Cantonese and Sweet and Sour whole fish. We then ordered a Green tea martini, the 5 Dumpling sampler, pepper steak stir fry and Veggie Jay Choy. After living in Southern China I have missed authentic foods so the sweet and sour while fish and the jay choy really hit for me. We picked that fish clean. My daughter loved the Lobster Cantonese and my hubby was surprised by how good the fish was. We also tasted the Maderin Orange cake for dessert. It is light and moist like tres Leche and the orange flavor is delicate against the buttery notes. All I. All a delicious meal and we will be back. Service was also excellent we were relaxed and did not feel rushed as we enjoyed our meal occupying the table for about 1 1/2 hours.
I was visiting Jacksonville and stumbled upon this place. What a great find! The food was delicious! Fresh and perfectly cooked. Ribs were juicy and had a nice char taste. Pan fried noodles and the lo mein were like New York Chinatown! The fried zucchini sticks were so good! Light and crispy and not oily!
The bartender Holly made the best cocktails!
The restaurant is beautiful and the staff was so nice and accommodating to my food requests. I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you are in Jacksonville Florida. We tried other places in Jacksonville on our vacation and this was our favorite!!!!
I took a friend here for lunch. The lunch menu looked really good, but we were treating ourselves, so we ordered from the "fancy" side of the lunch menu. I ordered the red curry shrimp and grits. The spice level was perfect for me and I pretty much cleaned my plate. Service was excellent and the dinning room was very lovely. I'd like to go back with my hubby. I think it would be a great plate for a romantic date night. Also, I ordered the mandarin cake to go, and it did not disappoint. Check the prices online before you go so you don't get sticker shock. I think the prices are worth the experience, but there are other places you can get Asian fusion for less. They definitely won't have red curry shrimp and grits though.
This is the best Chinese food I’ve had in Jacksonville. We came here for lunch and the service was impeccable. The owner even came to check on us. The food was fresh and came piping hot. The Sichuan bowl was amazing. This is a clean and airy restaurant with a little chocolate shop in it.
