Martin's Fish House

Found this place while driving one day. The beautiful vintage sign caught my attention! I love vintage signs and i love fish houses and i think this is perfect timing! So i wasted no time and tried this place. My work has allowed me to be all over Mississippi, small town and big town, i always try the local fish houses and i have tried quite many. But Wow, i can say that this is definitely in my Top 5 list! I mean, most places only have catfish or catfish and pan trout. But Martin's they have them both plus Buffalo and ocean perch! And their fish is done best, juicy and not over cooked with just the right amount of breading not to alter the flavor of the fish, good crunch and crispiness and almost no trace of grease! Very nice subtle flavor and delicious. Portions are more than enough and right on the dollar! The place is homey and the staff are good people! Been to this place many times and each time is pleasantly good eating. My friends loved it too when i recommended it to them.

I am originally from Jackson Mississippi. When I come back home to visit, I always look for something that I cannot get where I live now. For example, one of those things is always finding a good restaurant for Friday catfish. Well, this particular time I went to Martin's and I ordered a catfish dinner. Now the sign outside says they serve farm raised catfish but in reality they do not! I got back to my family's home and realized I had been given swai which is a much cheaper fish that tastes nothing like catfish. This really upset me and I hate have to leave a negative review for this establishment however, you shouldn't advertise something that you do not actual provide. I give three stars though some items were really good.

Absolutely the best down south southern fried fish spot in Jackson Ms.You get delectable mouth watering large pieces of fish,and delicious very large hush puppies.The prices are moderate,but go early the parking can be a bit of a challenge if you arrive at lunch or after 4:00 p.m. the quality and taste of the fish at this establishment is second to none.
