Best jerk chicken I've had so far. Very authentic. It's something I try to get every time I go back to Jackson. You get pretty large portions for what you pay. Not much room to sit.
One of Jackson's Best. Nestled in the corner of East Capitol Street and North Presidential Street is this excellent, hole-in-the-wall restaurant. You need only listen to the accents of the clientele to know that you're in for real Jamaican cooking. From the fork tender, mildly spiced curry chicken to the sinus clearing jerk ribs, the Caribbean inspired menu does not disappoint. For those seeking something a bit more out of the ordinary, the ox tails and curry goat are highly recommended. All meats are served over red beans and rice with a side of cabbage, unless you request differently. If you haven't tried this place, you are truly missing out. I cannot recommend it enough!
My favorite lunch spot in Jackson. As a student living in Jackson I have eaten almost every restaurant in Jackson. "Taste" never disappoints. Their ribs on Wednesday and Friday are unbeatable. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. The staff are always cheerful and jackson is lucky to have a place as good and consistent as this.
Absolutely Delicious!. Do not let the rundown looking exterior fool you. This place is excellent! I finally had a chance to try it for lunch today, and my only regret was I had waited so long to do so. I ordered the curry chicken, which came with a generous serving of rice and cabbage, and a Jamaican soda, and still paid less than $10. Each bite packed immense flavor. The chicken was juicy and perfectly seasoned, and the rice absorbed all of the wonderful spice from the gravy. The heat was just right; not too hot, but with a nice kick. I will definitely be back to try their curry goat and jerk ribs.

So I finally tried it & loved it! Had the curry shrimp which was the right amount of flavor & spice with plantains that were a great sweet addition to the spice of the shrimp!
Will definitely go back!
I love this place. I love the different flavors. I had a goat stew like thing it was great! Makes me feal as if I am in the islands.
A Jamaican jewel in the Deep South. Quite an unexpected find in the heart of the Deep South. A good Jamaican restaurant!! Great plantains, so nice that I ordered more on its own. Not a fan of oxtail as meat, but the sauce that came with it was very tasty. And the rice and beans was excellent. Basic service, but we're there for the food! And, go early. We were there during the tail end of lunch time and some of the sides were gone!
The beans and rice are a terrific base for any of the meat choices. I recommend the curry chicken or brown stew chicken.
The curry chicken and meat pies are great
This was my first time in here. Super cool spot for a quick lunch. Really good food. I got the oxtail. Came stacked on a pile of rice with some beans in it. The gravy with the ox tail was absolutely delicious. Fine eating! But it's kinda a rough spot and if you're unfamiliar with downtown Jackson it may not be the place for you. But damn was it good
Great food....great atmosphere....the entire staff is very friendly patient and courteous....would suggest to anyone that haven't had the chance to experience authentic Jamaican cuisine!!
Great food. Cooked with you in mind. Gives us a Caribbean experience. Good, quality food. Fresh.
Great food!! If oxtails are what you're going for, better get there early because they are ALWAYS the 1st thing they run out of, but I've loved everything I've tried there so far.
