I love this place. Im glad they reopened.
Their sauce is spot on, brings out the flavor of the shrimps and octopus. Id like to see a better atmosphere but its no issue at all because the food is great. It just feels like the back of a deli in the storage room but it is what it is, maybe thats just the experience. Either way im very happy everytime I come here, its great and better than other overpriced shrimp cocktails in the area.
This is a late review. Hopefully much has not changed. I went here in April and enjoyed the experience. This is a hole in the wall place with quality food and excellent service. The only down side is when a train passes by you can't talk/hear anything, so better not to talk. Shrimp cocktail was something unique I've never tried before. Slightly on the sweeter side. I would have preferred a spicier version (they do have hot sauce). Service was truly excellent and friendly. They threw in extra cilantro upon request and packed the avocado slices separately (due to take out). Items are fairly priced. Surely give this place a try.
This place has been on my radar for a minute and I finally stopped by. It was exactly what I was expecting! It’s window service. We ordered the Shrimp & Octopus Cocktail it came with crackers and hot sauce. It was the perfect mid day snack! Everything was fresh and the flavors were amazing! Be sure to add the hot sauce you won’t be disappointed. We definitely like to go back and try some of their other items.
Fresh & tasty! This is a hidden gem on Roosevelt Av. The octopus-shrimp cocktail is to die for! Add a couple of dashes of Valentina, grab your cocktail and keep walking around or find yourself a spot the small communal tables they have inside. You’ll be back and you’ll bring someone to show off. Amazing stuff
The best!!!!! The La esquina was very delicious and freshly made. The service is great and professional. Shout out Action Bronson f#@k that's delicious. Their hot sauce is awesome. The food is so delicious and always hits the spot. It's like shrimp cocktail and ceviche had a baby. Very refreshing and healthy. It's great for a snack or a meal. They have tacos which are also delicious. Everything is just so very fresh and very satisfying. Every time I am in the area I try to make it to La Esquina Del Camaron Mexicano. The owner is very nice. The staff are very nice. I would highly recommend this restaurant. A must try
Window is located around the corner, not in Roosevelt Ave.
Dishes include different kinds of fish tacos, octopus taco, and seafood cocktail.
Tacos are not spicy, they give you sauce on the side.
oh man. so good. add hot sauce
First time trying their shrimp cocktail, and it was sooo delicious, flavorful. Got a size small for $13, a bit overpriced though.
We found the reference in NYTIMES and decided to go.
When we reached the corner of 80 and Roosevelt, we didn't know where to look... not even a sign reference.
We enter a deli and at the bottom of everything we find it: La esquina del camarón mexicano.
They treated us very nicely, explained each dish and we could choose what looked more tasty: shrimp and octopus cocktail, octopus toast and another one of ceviche, a dish of flautas of cazón (shark)... What to say... incredibly tasty and fresh, delicious!
This place is hard to find, but it is worth looking for. If you want to try, fresh, authentic and tasty food, I recommend this place, it's great.
Delicious mixed cocktail, a little sweet with a little acidity. Picture includes updated pricing. Also ordered the fish empanada which was a little dry. Would definitely recommend trying the cocktail.
Saw this place in youtube so of course we had to try it. We got the coctel mixto (shrimp and octopus). Definitely recommend.
Cash only.
Generous portions of seafood and friendly service. The food was simple, tasty, and filling. Great for a quick grab and go meal, or to eat at home. They packed me the tostada separately so it would be crunchy when I got home.
Glad I was able to try their tasty shrimp and octopus cocktail after watching the video featured on many facebook pages. Next time I would get just pulpo (octopus) it was that good. Fyi, prices have increased.
Delicious! I always order shrimp cocktails whenever I go to a Mexican restaurant and this is one of the best one I've had! Since I always order mine to go I usually put it in a bowl. The picture is a medium size mixed cocktail.
Literally a hole in the wall attached to a Bodega smoke shop. Nice people and legit fish tacos.

Eat the World NYC review:
Around forever but made famous by its weekend outdoor stand for quick cocteles, this back of the house kitchen is actually around all week, and if we're being honest the rest of the new menu is much more interesting anyways. Every option is seafood, and the fish and octopus tacos definitely stand out. Try the shark (dogfish) flautas for something truly unique, shredded shark meat with cheese inside of fried tortillas, and smother it with their oily homemade green salsa.
I heard about this place from a YouTube video that I saw on Reddit. There's nothing I love better than a little, family run, hole-in-the-wall business, and this fits the description literally. While it is in the back of a corner smoke shop, you have to order through a window that's outside and around the corner. Literally a hole in the wall!
They have a focused menu of Mexican dishes using shrimp and octopus, but they are famous for their Shrimp Cocktail Cups. I got a small, and that was still a generous serving. It starts with a bunch of shrimp (I could also have ordered it with octopus or combination of both), and they fill the cup with their own proprietary tomato sauce/juice. They top it with cilantro and onions and avocado.
It's simple, and delicious. The sauce isn't like tomato juice, but it's not like Italian tomato sauce either. It seemed to have a bit of a fizz like light carbonation. I made sure to not leave a drop.
There are a few benches on the sidewalk so you can eat and watch the neighborhood residents wander by, and the elevated 7 train clack through.
If I had any complaint, it might be the price, which was $11.98 for the small cup, but this is one of those unique NYC experiences you aren't going to get while on the beaten path. Actually, once I was finished, I wished I'd spent a couple dollars more for the medium size.
Cocteles is amazing. Flavorful. Unexpected to find it at the very back of bodega. Will have to come back and try other items.
AMAZING! A MUST! Seems sketchy as it’s in the back of a deli but it’s also so much more fun because of that. Action Bronson put me on so I’m just echoing his words of how good this spot is.
