It may appear that the place is closed, but the main lights seem to be out.
Staff was very hospitable and knew well about the food items on the menu.
Most of the food was delicious. Tum Yum was too sour, so I would be cautious.
Thai Spicy Noodles were quite tasty. Thus, recommend. Spicy Rad Nah was nice & different (slimy). Ordered 4/5 spicy and was okayish hot. We eat Indian level hot food, so even 5/5 wouldn't be hot for us. Regular eaters could go up to 3 or 4.
The only complaint is the kids' music blasting from the kitchen entrance. It was very irritating as it was getting mixed with the music played throughout the restaurant. Couldn't enjoy the good vibe.
Loved the laarb. But I had to ask 3 times for my mango sticky rice, and 4 for Thai ice tea that I never ended up getting. Yes, it's 7 on a Saturday, I understand delays, but I don't like waiting an hour for an item for any reason. The "spicy basil" was rather generic, can't really recommend it. The Tom Yum was really sweet, which I kinda liked for something different.
We’ve been coming here for many years, but I’m really worried about this place. The food is still awesome and it’s our favorite Thai place in Ithaca, but they seem to be suffering from poor management the past few years, leading to longer wait times and a diminished experience. As an example, we recently wanted to get takeout Thai food on a Sunday evening. We were unable to reach the restaurant by phone to place an order. Later we learned from one of the staff that it was her job to answer the phone, but she was the only one in the front of the restaurant at the time and “couldn’t answer the phone”. Huh? The phone just rang and rang, never went to a machine or anything. Not even being sure if the restaurant was actually open, we hesitantly placed an order online for pickup. It said it would be ready in 45 minutes. In the past I would have expected 30 minutes for this non-busy time, but figured the 45 minute timeframe was adding a little slack to manage expectations - no problem. We arrived about 50 minutes later. As expected, the restaurant was not very busy (maybe fewer than 1/3 of the tables occupied) but our food was not ready. They said “7 to 8 more minutes”. We walked down the commons and came back about 15 minutes later. Our food was still not ready. They finally brought it out in another 5 to 10 minutes (about an hour and 15 minutes after we placed the order). There seemed to be several employees just milling about, not really sure what they were supposed to be doing. They remodeled the restaurant during the pandemic and somehow managed to remove all the charm it used to have. I really hope they can get their act together or I fear they will go out of business. That would be a shame, because it really is the best Thai food in Ithaca.
Also, make sure you don’t confuse them with Taste of Thai Express on Meadow St. (especially if you are placing a takeout order). That place is not the same, not affiliated, and has inferior quality food.
1. The staff are so friendly and helpful. I would give them 5 stars for hospitality.
2. The Tom Yum soup was the best. It was very delicious. Was a little spicy. I can tolerate spice OK. We ordered 3/5 spice level. I would recommend sticking to less than 3 if you can't handle spicy food.
3. Their Thai ice tea was also good. Not as good as some of the places I've been to but definitely in the top 10. It was a little on the sweeter side.
4. We also ordered the Thai spicy noodles and the green curry [with veggie chicken (which I do not recommend)]. The noodles were spiced perfectly but the veggies in the noodle dish lacked seasoning. But overall it was tasty but not as tasty as the soup.
5. The Thai curry was rich in flavor but the veggie chicken was not good. Would instead get the tofu.
Overall it was a very positive dinner. We were travelling all day and hadn't eaten all that much. I'm glad we stopped here.
We were a party of 2 and we ordered 2 drinks, one soup, and 2 main course and we finished 99% of everything we ordered.
Excellent Thai food. The Edamame, Won Ton soup, Thai Chicken salad were tasty and some of the best I ever had. Service is average but prompt and courteous. You won't be disappointed, and large menu selection, with affordable pricing.
The foods were great, loving the Pad Thai so much (I've been ordering it for pickups – one of the best Pad Thai I've ever had in Ithaca) and the Iced Thai Tea. I think this is one of the restaurants that open late in Ithaca area since most of the places close at 9 pm :-(
This place is amazing. One of the best Thai restaurants on the eastern coast. Pad Thai was delicious, flavorful. The waiter asked how spicy we want our food so each meal was just right. We ordered pad Thai, red curry and pineapple curry. I highly recommend this place. Every bite is worth the wait!
I loved all the dishes. The fried rice and papaya salad are a must try. And the desert coconut custard melts in your mouth
Came here after doing a couple of hikes in the Finger Lakes area. I had traditional Pad Thai with Shrimp and my mom had the Yellow Fried Rice with chicken. Both were excellent. I also had two delicious Thai iced teas with cream. It was a very enjoyable dining experience that I recommend to anyone in the Ithaca area!
Would say the quality has improved of late, food was very good -- especially the curry. Not super spicy, even at a 4, in case that was what you are after. Can accommodate pretty large parties but the service can be a little slow for a group of 15+, even with a reservation. Overall a spot on the commons I would recommend.
From South East Asia, lived in LA, ate all over the phenomenal Thai towns there and tried this restaurant for the first time since moving here. I always order the spicy fish dishes to judge what the food standard is and so pleased to report the spicy Jungle catfish dish was so delicious I wanted to lick the plate. It had grachai and Thai eggplant, which is very hard to find in Americanized Thai restaurants!
Can't wait to go back and try the crispy rice salad, haven't seen that on a menu since we dined in mom-pop Thai town places out west !
Stopped for a quick bite, great quality and yummy! Would recommend. Not sure why this place isn’t rated higher!
We ordered the Thai tea, spring rolls, pad see eew and the spicy fried rice. The spring rolls were crunchy and hot and came with a sweet/garlicky sauce that was delicious. The pad see eew was also freshly made, tasted authentic and was seasoned well. The spicy fried rice satisfied my spicy craving. I asked for level 3 with pork and it had a lot of crunchy veggies, a lot of Thai basil and plenty of meat. The Thai tea was delicious as well and not watered down at all. We ate outside and one of them waiters even came outside to give us water even though we didn’t order it. They were very friendly and even went above the expected. I recommend this place if you’re craving Thai food.
