Review Umi Cafe - Issaquah

I have passed by this restaurant a million times. Always curious. My 7 year old begged for us to go. Best decision ever. Delicious food. We had the spicy chicken dumplings, gyoza dumplings, and spring rolls. We definitely over ordered but almost ate everything. Super good food. Nice waiter. Fast service. Can’t wait to go back and try their viet coffee.I can’t wait to eat here when it warms up during the summer. The outdoor space is so cute.

It's a feel good place with a great outdoor ambience and a good selection of food in their menu. Loved the setting. The noodle soup was top notch.

Zen-like courtyard for outdoor seating, and cozy indoor space. Speedy, efficient service. Excellent wings - crispy and flavorful (we tried the honey garlic variety). Decadent pork buns. Noodle soup is a generous portion - perfect on an overcast fall day.

I had the Taiwanese beef noodle soup and fried tofu - all really good! There is a cute little garden out front too! Would recommend if you wanna stop somewhere near the highway for some food after a hike! :)

The traditional beef soup had a great broth, however the meat seemed to be of poorer quality compared to the duck bun appetizers which were fantastic.

Just few feet from the busy Issaquah downtown. Beautiful restaurant with great outdoor seating. I would love to go back in summer. I ordered Spicy Chicken Dumplings and Chicken pho. Spicy chicken dumplings were amazing. Fresh soft dumplings with minced chicken meat in a spicy red sauce with green scallions. The chicken pho was good. The chicken broth was light and had more "chickeny" broth flavor than the usual pho broth. The chicken and other ingredients in the pho were good.

I was in the mood for banh mi. I ordered the beef banh mi. I have not seen beef shank before in a banh mi and had high hopes because shank is so flavorful. But shank needs to be braised a long time to become tender and this shank was a few minutes shy of that mark. It was a bit tough and one piece was completely un-chewable. The rest of the sandwich was great, though! I missed the typical jalapeno slice, but the pickled vegetables were very tasty. I also had the shiitake and bok choy soup. For a completely vegan dish, it was pretty good. I thought that the broth need a bit of something to be great and maybe that something was fish sauce. The bok choy was cut in half and was unwieldy on my spoon.

Umi is a wonderful little Asian fusion cafe tucked away on a side street of old Issaquah. Lots of good food and a pretty koi pond outside. Great idea to have lunch and then walk around Issaquah’s front street. Duck fried rice, pho, and specials. Check it out!
