There was about a 10 minute wait but it was well worth it.
J&R's has a midwest ristic hometown feel about it.
The waitstaff is extremely attentive and the place is very clean.
Now the Steaks are very good and made to order. I really liked the signature steak sauce😋
I had the JRs Steak marinade.
My husband had the Shrimp scampi he said it was good.
Everyone else in our party of six said their food was really good.
Then they made our night by serving not only cheesecake but delicious brownie sundaes. Yes a fantastic end for a good meal.
Quick seating and in minutes, Ryan was at the table inquiring of our drink order. The table was continually observed and waited upon. Ryan, our waiter was perfectly suited to the service as he answered menu questions, ensured the food met our expectations, did continual drink refills, and was certain to ask if there was anything else we desired before closing out the sale.
It is a comfortable and family-friendly environment. There were birthday recognitions and new memories of laughter being established as a result of enjoying J&R's restaurant and its offerings.
Food- the meats were pretty good, some of the side dishes couldn't be highly rated. The desserts were tasty. Serving size of food was adequate.

This place is really great! I got the bacon cheeseburger and it was scrumptious and juicy! I would recommend this to anyone in Islip.
We had a great evening at my mother birthday dinner. The staff was so friendly and accommodating our group of 12. I got the prime rib and my wife got the marinated skirt steak, both cooked perfectly and so good. We will be going as regulars from now on. For the amount of food you get for the price it's unbeatable especially nowadays.
I love this place it’s great food and nice staff. The prices went up recently but still has an amazing special that start as low as 10.99. I like the French dip. Very good! I just wish they didn’t serve small cups because when the dining room gets busy sometimes it might be a while to get a drink refill.
Great food! We had a large party and the staff handled it well. I would recommend them whether you're looking for a nice meal or just to hang out at the bar and have a drink. Good location and plenty of parking off the street.
Delicious food. They have an amazing Veterans Day menu and deals for Veterans. It was lovely to have so many men and women who served as well, around us all that day.

Ordered the lunch Special marinated sirloin came with a side and a salad was delicious cooked perfectly only 12.99 we also got the regular marinated skirt steak with side salad and fresh vegetables. We eat out quiet often and we go to J&R’s a lot they have the best happy hour specials, the best daily specials and the best lunch specials the food always comes out hot and cooked perfectly. This is also the only place I will get skirt steak they give you good size piece not like other places . The mussels are also delicious here and don’t forget the garlic bread to dip in the sauce🥰
I work in a Nursing Facility and today was one of our residents birthday, all month he spoke about how he was going to J&R for a birthday steak. My resident went alone, took the bus in a wheelchair and enjoyed a delicious lunch for his birthday. When he got back from lunch there was something that made his day he shared with me, the owner of J&R in Islip not only chatted with him, he was kind enough to treat him to his birthday lunch. It's not about the money, it just goes go show there are still kind people in this world. This act of kindness truly made our residents day and days to come.
One of the best steak house in the Long Island: I think I ever been. The size and tenderness of the steak in that price can beat to any steak house. Stuff members are also nice. Definitely will come back again.
One of my favorite steak place. Friendly staff and great food. Came here for the pasta salad. They give you this when you are waiting for your meal. The lunch was only about $11 per person.
A friendly local steak house that really provides value. Lunch special is only $10 something you get a side and a salad (or upgrade for a soup with $2). The steak my partner ordered was a little over cooked when he asked for medium well. Other than that I have nothing to complain. Service is good.
Absolutely loved this restaurant! The whole feel is amazing and excellent food. I like being able to go out to a restaurant that's not one of those big chains. Our waitress was an older woman who was super sweet. The only negative thing I could say was that I thought kids meals were free on Sunday through Thursday, we went on a Monday and were charged for the kids meals. We were a large party celebrating a birthday and the birthday girl chose this restaurant (they live in Suffolk) I just wish there was a J&R's in Nassau County and a way for me to get a J&R hat for my husband 😂
Absolutely a must visit and we were surely be making the 30 minute drive back! Great experience, well done J&R's!!
GREAT prime rib. ALWAYS on the menu (a lot of places will only serve prime rib on weekends.) affordable, yet delicious food, service is great, the only reason I can only give 4 stars for the service is they don’t currently take reservations for parties under 10….if I were able to make a reservation for 2, I’d struggle to find another steakhouse to ever enjoy!
We like all J&R's locations. Islip location is the most close to our home. Their food is always good. We like their lobster bisque. Their cheesecake is also delicious. Prime ribs & BBQ ribs are one of our most favorite dish from J&R's. You are always feeling welcome by their waitress.
