My wife and I celebrated our honeymoon with dinner at Manta. We were seated right at our reservation time and were greeted with a couple glasses of complimentary champagne. We watched the sunset from our table. The views from Manta are incredible. We ordered the hearts of palm crudités for our appetizer. It was a good dish to wake up our palates, with bites of sweet, savory, and crunchy. We had the Mac-crusted Mahi Mahi and the Onaga (red snapper) with prawns for our mains. Both dishes were great. We then ordered the sorbet trio for dessert (pineapple, grapefruit, and blackberry). This was some of the best sorbet we’ve ever had. A great way to end a meal. Afterwards, we enjoyed watching the manta rays feed at the lookout. It was an incredible experience. The service was great from start to finish. This is a fine dining restaurant, so don’t expect to be in and out in an hour. The servers don’t rush you to place your order. But, once your order is placed the food comes out quickly. Just enjoy your meal while taking in the incredible views.

Best restaurant that we’ve tried on the big island. We read some negative reviews and were apprehensive about going, but are very glad we did. Our dinner was incredible. We started with the cream of tomato soup, the beet root salad, and the crispy brussel sprouts. All three were great, but the tomato soup stood out as our favourite. For desert we had the Bombe Alaska and the Lilikoi Soufflé (which is a new addition to the menu starting today). Both were amazing and I can’t recommend them highly enough. Service was quick and excellent, unlike what we read in some other reviews. We were promptly seated and attended to, and our dishes came out in a very timely manner. The restaurant itself is stunning and the views are gorgeous. After the sun sets be sure to go down to see the manta rays swimming under the lights. Don’t believe some of the bad reviews - this was not our experience at all.

An amazing restaurant with phenomenal views, service and most importantly, food. You'll need a reservation and it's pricier than other restaurants in the area but worth it for the views and the Manta viewing after sunset. (The Manta viewing is free, you don't actually need to pay for it). Our server was one of the best servers I've had at any restaurant ever. And the New York steak was the most tender steak I've had. It's sourced from the ranches right there on the Big Island. Extremely juicy and full of flavour.

Dinner at 5:30 pm Service extremely slow, took an hour to get drinks. Food excellent. View excellent. Awesome experience to see live Manta Rays outside restaurant at night after dinner.

We came to eat at the Hua Tree which was a great sunset view, but walking over to Manta to see the animals was the gem of the evening. We walked up and saw the great creature doing flips and swimming at the surface just off of the viewing area. The hotel does some snorkeling to see them just beyond with a surfboard and lights which pulls them away some, but we had a great viewing just walking up. Manta looked incredible and had views overlooking the water and sunset.

The service was excellent and the food was great. We celebrated an anniversary and they helped to make it so special. The access to the beach is wonderful and makes for a great stroll before dinner. The bar is well stocked and supported by a wonder staff. The only knock I would give was specific to us. We we’re having a private dinner service and people rudely kept walking through our area. I wold say please block the sides to the terrace so as to avoid these rude interruptions to an otherwise excellent experience.

The best thing about this place is the room, the views, and the ambiance. The atmosphere is 10+ stars. The food is good, But the selection is a little limited. I didn’t take photos of the food but the ahi sashimi appetizer was great …but The service for dinner was awful. We were virtually ignored ….HOWEVER, when the server didn’t come back to see if we wanted more cocktails or dessert, we left the table and went back to the bar (bar staff ~ Jenna and Johnny ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️~ excellent). Apparently the word got to the manager who is a DREAM, and he TOTALLY took care of us ….so…because of the manager ~ “Monty at Manta”, the ambiance, the bartenders, the review went from 2 stars to 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️s. SERVICE MAKES A DIFFERENCE 🎉🎉🎉💗#loveMontyatManta

This was our favorite restaurant on the big island. The service was amazing and the food was really good. We had not experienced a lot of good food on the big island (as it is very remote) so we were thrilled to get a last minute reservation here! I ordered everything the waiter recommended and I was not disappointed! The views were amazing and we even saw a giant manta ray dancing from the viewing deck after our meal! It was a perfect evening!

Delicious food in a truly spectacular hotel on the water. The deserts were especially to die for. They also leave a light on down on the water to attract manta rays (who come to eat the plankton that is drawn to the light) which makes for great pre or post dinner entertainment/a great way to see a manta ray in the wild. The only downside was that we had a slightly snooty waiter. Otherwise, great experience.

The food and atmosphere here are great !! It’s nostalgic with the nice jazz music playing and classic architecture. The food and service are great everyone here was friendly. Great location overlooking the ocean. The sunsets are prime here. Their signature dishes have a little orange manta next to them !!
