Review Don Luis Mexican Restaurant - Ione

Don Luis has the best Diablo shrimp I have ever eaten! The food here is always hot, fresh, and flavorful! We ordered the "Mexican gravy" for an appetizer and it did not disappoint!

We don't live in this area...jus got done fishing lake amador and let me tell you, after all day, we needed some good food! And we found it! ...super yummy! Great tasting food! Great service! Will return next time!

We took our adult daughters out for lunch on the patio. Great food, as always. The atmosphere was awesome. They were busy, so the table wasn't wiped down, but it wasn't super messy. Definitely will go again.

I took pictures of the food but my SD card crashed and lost all my pictures. But I think I can describe it to you. It's fantastic! The slow cooked and well seasoned chunks of meat is full of flavor. Rice and beans as good as home cooking. The staff was very pleasant and friendly. When in Ione go here. I’m adding to my review here. I just wanted to remind you how awesome and delicious this place and the food is. New items on the menu are amazing and you must try the pozole. I seem to be getting a bit forgetful when it comes to taking pictures but half way through shoveling my food in my mouth I remembered to snap a couple photos so you can see the passion that went into making this perfect dish!

We usually grab take out. Foods really good but we've gotten a random dish rather than what was ordered on 2 different occasions now. It was fixed both times but like... What?

I ordered the steak and eggs very good with the green chili sauce. I would recommend this place for date night. Love all the football helmets on display and pictures on the wall as well 👌 a nice touch to make for a great atmosphere.

We stopped at Don Luis for lunch on our way back from Lake Tahoe and it was a great experience. Food and service is top notch. This is one of the best tasting Mexican food I've had in a long time and our servers were awesome too. On a side note, they have the best and cleanest restrooms too. This place is about 2 hr from my home but I'll not hesitate to come back just for food.

Good Mexican food. Service was a little slow, but had great salsa and chips to munch on while waiting for our entree. Outside patio dining with heaters. Inside also open.

Food was really good. The waitress was a little slow and it wasn't even busy at the time we were there. I would recommend you to give it a try and see what you think of it.

Very welcoming restaurant. There is an entrance main Street as well as the back. The back has a comfortable patio with tables and chairs. The food took a bit to get out but it was worth the wait. The flavors were incredible.

Nice place to eat. The portions are plentiful. BUT THEY DIDNT HAVE A LIQUOR LICENSE SO NO MARGARITAS 😭😢😭

My son's dish was delicious, beef tacos, and an enchiladas plate. I had a steak, rice, cheese, with sour cream burrito. My burrito had tendons, non chewable beef parts...eww after the third bite. My son offered to finish it later. The salsa was too spicy for our taste. If we are in town again, I'll try what my son had instead. I did have to flag servers down for refills. We had stopped here after visiting Preston Castle.

Very nice restaurant in the old part of Ione. Excellent food. Reasonable prices. Great staff. I enjoyed my time there.

Great place to sit and eat. Service was fantastic. Quick and courteous. Food was amazing. Wife had fajitas and they were incredible. I had the bacon burger. Best burger i have ever tasted. Price was great. Will absolutely be back there sooner rather than later!

Wonderful Mexican food. Lot of new changes in decoration, back patio and looks like breakfast is coming now too! Love this place!

We had wonderful service and terrific food last night. We stayed visiting and chatting with each other long after all the other guests were gone and never once felt pressure from the gracious staff to wrap it up and go home. Thank you for another wonderful evening. We'll be seeing you soon.

Food is very good but make sure you are double checking your receipt. We are locals that visit once a week and the last four times we have been in they have overcharged us.
