This is one business among many in a strip mall on the main drag in Broad Ripple. That may be why we never hit it up before now. Had I known what was in store for us I would have wanted to go sooner. They offer lunch specials similar to other Chinese joints in town but we ordered from the regular menu. We each ordered a pork egg roll for $1.60. It was a pretty good roll, however I forgot to take a shot of it. I could have eaten another one. The first thing I noticed was they serve everything in and on disposable ware. Even the cutlery is plastic.
We had never ate here before and we were very pleased. We ate in, but their food is perfect for take out. I ordered the orange chicken combination platter (which came with pork fried rice and an egg roll) and my wife got the vegetable lo mein with a vegetable roll. The fillers for the rolls were a little different, but a good different. The orange chicken was juicy and delicious. The lo mein noodles were not too thin and the sauce was really good. Everything was great!
The best Chinese restaurant. Very delicious chinese food, and the price is cheap compare to the other. I like this restaurant.
Best Chinese in town. This is the only place we order Chinese from. Prices are good, they have great specials, and it's not nearly as greasy as other places. Good quality!
Great for dieters. Side Wok Cafe offers great food and an excellent "Special Diet Menu" which is steamed protein (chicken, beef, shrimp,tofu) along with vegetables and steamed white rice. The meal comes with savory brown sauce which is great and soup. A complete meal at lunch for under $5. So long McDonalds! A most enjoyable meal for dieters.
Excellent food! I always get carry out- house special lo mein and a side order of spring rolls, which are amazing. My husband gets the sesame chicken and is happy every time. I have ordered from several Chinese places, but this one is by far the best!! Highly recommend.

Consistent!. When it comes to good ol' Chinese-American, #21 w/ egg roll combo takeout, there is ONE WORD i need to hear... Consistent. I like to find a local Chinese joint for those nights when nobody wants to cook, and all too often I have been lulled into thinking I have finally found that right place... And then - My General Tso's Chicken has been over-fried... The sauce is incredibly gummy... The broccoli is brown! Yikes!
This is never the case with Side Wok Cafe. Every time I go, my food is just as I want it... Nothing spectacular, mind you... I'm only expecting them to NOT screw it up. But Side Wok never screws it up. Take out comes in great plastic containers, perfect for taking to work the next day... I don't quite know what else to say about this place! They just always deliver the goods...
When I first moved to Indianapolis, I went on a hunt for a truly great, mom & pop Chinese place like I had back home when I was a kid. This search had me way out on the east side, up in Carmel, and all around broad ripple... and I settled on Side Wok Cafe. Someday I may aspire to find that great, white whale of a Chinese joint, but until then... I am content with consistently tasty.
Great Food. This has to be one of the best, if not the best, Chinese food in Indy. The food is fresh and cooked to order. The Crab Rangoon is the best I have had anywhere.
Great food. We stumbled into this place randomly and were glad that we did. My wife is not a big fan of Chinese food, because of how greasy it can be. We both enjoyed the food here. Not all that greasy and tasted great. We had the Chicken Lo Mein, wonton soup, and eggroll. All good.
Our assistant phoned in the carry out order and picked it up. All of our lunches were packed in styrofoam clam shell boxes about 9x6 inches, and about 1.5 inches deep, that were stapled shut. The packaging at JS Garden is better for keeping half of lunch for the next day. Other than the packaging, Side Wok easily beat out JS Garden. The shrimp with Szechuan was spicy. Every so often, I took a break to let my mouth cool off. The dried chilis had been minced and dotted the packaging, a much better way to add heat than the two huge dried chilis left whole, and left in my food, from JS Garden. Bamboo, carrots, green pepper, a few scant pieces of red pepper, a few pieces of baby corn, and lots of chopped onion accompanied the 11 medium shrimp in the lunch portion. All of the veggies were crisp tender and the shrimp were a pleasant texture--not overcooked. Side Wok was very heavy handed with the onion slices, but supposedly onions have a natural antibiotic effect. Since it's cold
I’ve gotten carry out at Side Wok for many years. The meals are consistently good . You get what you expect over and over again. The value is excellent.

Always good food ran by a very nice family. Some of the best take out food in the Broad Ripple area. Been going here for over 10 years.
Love my go to order of chicken and broccoli. Tasty food for a nice price.
