Mackenzie River Pizza, Grill & Pub

We visited last Saturday night. When we walked in you could quickly tell they were short staffed and in a little bit of a panic about it. We waited 10+ minutes before anyone greeted us and the restaurant was more than half empty. We weren't in a hurry and we completely understand with covid that things are tough. We finally got seated and the server took our drink order. She apologized for the delay and we said no problem. And heres the thing... From the moment we sat down, even though they were scrambling and clearly understaffed...our service was exceptional. Our appetizer came out fast. Our pizzas also came out fast and were delicious. That's pretty impressive with a small staff. Highly recommend this place... Be patient and you'll have a great dinner.

Mixed in the otherwise urban sprawl of the greater Indianapolis area is a bit of frontier country known at MacKenzie River Pizza, Grill & Pub. Walking in to a decor that feels more like a vintage Rocky or Appalachian Mountain resort, guests are greeted by carved bears, River tackle, and warm service. Guests have their choice between a quaint pub or a more traditional dinning area. The pub section is perfect for friends looking to enjoy a light-hearted moment while the dinning area offers space for family meals or more intimate discussions. The menu features a selection of items that match the decor. Appetizers include Bavarian Pretzels, Pulled Pork Sliders, and Street Corn Nachos. For the main course, decide between the signature pizza or more traditional pub flavors. The pizza menu includes your classic cheese (always a favorite for little travelers) or more creative options such as Hot Hawaiian or the Sequoia (Pesto, sub-dried tomatoes, artichoke hearts, pine nuts, and mozzarella cheese). Burgers are the heart of the traditional pub offerings including the Grizzly, the Ol’ Prospector, and the Smokehouse. You can also enjoy selections like MacKenzie Meatloaf (fully recommend). Dessert options are also generous for a pub style restaurant and include mud pie, carrot cake, and warm apple cobbler. Daily specials are also offered such as Burger and Beer Tuesdays. Overall this location was clean and inviting. We dined in on a weeknight with little wait. Outside dinning is available in warm weather. Bottom line, no complaints. It was a sound dining experience and we will return.

We visited late Saturday afternoon for a late lunch. We were immediately greeted & seated & our orders taken quickly. The food arrived quickly - we both had the Reuben sandwich which was excellent, maybe one of the best Reubens we've ever had! And their French fries are amazing! We also love the rustic decor & the scenic views out of the side & rear windows - we'll definitely be back!

Stopped in for quick bite, the service was fast and the food was great will definitely come back. We got artichoke dip the lodgepoles and chorizo meatball skillet and everything was very very good. The staff was awesome. They were friendly ans hard working made us feel very welcome. I would recommend this place to anybody. Shout out to the boss lady shelly you are the best.
