This place is superb! For a Start the setting is beautiful. The CIA campus is beautiful but where the restaurants are is so pretty with a pavilion and water feature outside. The entrance is very grand with a long hallway leading to the various restaurants. American bounty itself has a bar at the entrance which would be good if you arrive early or have to wait for your table for some reason. Luckily we did not have to wait and were taken to our table even though we arrived almost 30 minutes early. The staff the entire night were pleasant and helpful and it is fun to be able to see the chefs on their whites in the kitchen behind a glass wall. Their wines are all American and I chose a Long Island red which was good. I had the pork belly to start and my husband had white bean soup both were delicious and the warm rolls were delicious too. We also had the steak and chicken and both were great. The steak was cooked exactly how I asked - well done and I even liked their creamed greens which I don't normally like because I don't like creamy food but this wasn't too.creamy at all. I got a side of fried mushroom which turned out to be breaded and fried which I wasn't expecting but it was still good. The chicken was juicy and very flavorful. We finished with a dessert of pressed apple, ginger cake and maple ice cream with caramel OMG delicious. The portions are much smaller than normally expected in America but more than enough and every bite delicious. I would recommend highly and we will definitely be back.
Do not pass on the opportunity to eat at American Bounty. Whatever the menu, it will not disappoint . I had the catfish. Melted in my mouth. Two thumbs up.
So much fun visiting the CIA. Love the gift shop, fountains, views & interesting displays up and down the hallways. We had reservations at American Bounty for a Mid Hudson Food & Wine Society dinner. We were not disappointed. The students were so attentive & food was delicious. Highly recommend.
Absolutely fantastic. Everything tasted like the best version possible. The rolls are like a pretzel croissant mix with a wonderfully buttery and salty flavor. The steak was outstanding, beyond tender and perfectly seasoned. It came on a bed of warm potato salad and creamed spinach, both were delicious. The creme brulee was out of this world, I don't think I will ever have a better version of that dessert. And the lemon poppyseed cake was perfectly balanced between sweet and tart with the poached rhubarb and honey ice cream. Cannot wait to eat here again.
We enjoyed the views of the river before heading to the restaurant. We split the smoked brisket appetizer. My wife had the pork belly and scallops and I had the cioppino. We had the espresso mousse to end our meal. Everything was delicious, the staff was prompt and the dining room very comfortable. There is an added 20% to your check to support the schools scholarships and student activities. We were fine with that but it would have been nice to know ahead of time. We will still go back.
You can look at this as paying for culinary students' training to help pay their way or for well cooked food you get to enjoy. I think both are applicable. Sometimes they make mistakes, but they always fix it.
This restaurant is within the culinary institute of America and it is completely run by the students. The food and presentation is excellent. Most of the time you need to make reservations for the specific restaurant.
Passing by the area on our way north and stoped by to visit the Culinary Institute of America. Food, services, and the whole experience at the American Bounty Restaurant were great. You need advance reservation in weeks to get a spot though.
What a great place! Atmosphere is pleasant, food is delicious. And the territory of the Institute is beautiful, worth a trip
One of the restaurants at the Culinary Institute of America, serving as training ground for some of the top chefs in America.
A lovely experience, from start to finish. Lovely setting, interesting and varied menu. Essentially, excellent food that is very well cooked and presented. The students serving are gracious and largely well-spoken. Portions make a filling meal, not over abundant to need "doggie bags".
A clear effort was made to keep a safe environment, with masks required until seated, and a good distance between filled tables.
Reservations are required.
Highly recommend.
