Review La Capilla Mexican Restaurant - Huntington Beach

1st time. The food was tasty. Ordered the fajitas combo with steak, chicken, and shrimp. It was all tossed together. Arrived sizzling and smokey as it should be but was surprised to see it all tossed together. Immediately, all I saw was the shrimp, onions,bell peppers, and tomatoes. After digging around, we found the meat in small pieces. I get it, food costs are up but that was aaaaalot of onions. Blood Orange margaritas were so good and strong, tortillas soup was a cup, and it was good. Salad was super fresh and crisp. By the taste and consistency of the flan, I would say it's not made in-house, not sure. Beans and rice are good! Guacamole tastes of cumin, lots of it. Chips and salsa were also very good and fresh. Overall, it was a good tasting meal for our 1st time. We enjoyed it, and got full of onions...lol jk 😜

Food was incredible and the serving size was enough for lunch the next day. It really was authentic Mexican food. Staff were friendly, helpful and professional. Atmosphere was perfect for family or a cozy couple in corner booth. It was a great dining experience.

I went inside for a small quick bite for myself. Even though my meal cost below $14, the staff treated me like a real valued guest. The green salsa chicken enchiladas were delicious and their complimentary chips and salsa were amazing as well.

Great place for dinner & drinks. The place wasn't busy so that's a plus for us. Big bar seating area with booths and TVs-another plus. We we're attended to quickly by or waitress Rosa. She came by frequently to make sure we were good but gave us time to enjoy our drink & look at the menu. Once we ordered the food came quickly. Rosa was super friendly & sociable. Thank you Rosa for making our time there so enjoyable! See you again soon!

Amazing restaurant. Food is perfect. I have my family come to my wife. He have a party of 32 peoples. Theo have a lot of space.

The food, the service, the drinks, the atmosphere is all 5 stars. I can always tell when a restaurant uses canned beans vrs when its cooked from scratch and everything about this place is 💯% authentic. Had so much food we got to take some home for dinner. So you're basically getting two meals for one good price. Will definitely be coming back and bringing some friends with me as well.

This is a standard Americanized Mexican food place. Reminds me of all the Mexican restaurants I used to go to in the 1990s. Lots of faux adobe walls, pastel pinks and blues. In true American Mexican restaurant fashion, you get endless chips and salsa. The menu is large and has all of your favorites. Tacos, burritos, enchiladas, tostadas, fajitas. The booth I sat in definitely needed an upgrade. The seats are so worn that you sink down and the springs are shot. With a little upgrades this place could be fantastic. It’s a wide open, huge dining room that could be amazing with some upgrades. Service was wonderful and attentive. Food was flavorful and fresh, definitely up to par with other sit down Mexican restaurants.

Cozy restaurant !! Great food and if you like Margarita's, this is the place. Service is pretty quick and friendly. The best homemade habanero sauce ever, you have to request it though because it's HOT and they don't just put it out for everyone.

This restaurant is my happy place! For is ALWAYS GREAT!

Finishing up my meal as I write this review. We were greeted with fresh and amazing salsa, and given time to look through the menu. The restaurant is very clean, low music in the background, and very friendly waiters/waitresses. I knew the food was going to be good based off how good the salsa was. My fiance ordered the combo plate, and I got a burrito. The portion size is very good, but the food was even better. If you're in the area and looking for a good Mexican food choice, look no further.

Party of 7 adults. Our server Gato was fantastic throughout our entire meal. I was impressed when he came out with a huge circular tray holding are seven large heavy entrée plates. Fantastic people, great food and service. thank you.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE La Capilla's. They offer the best happy hour specials (1.99 tacos and yummy margaritas). They also have a really nice outdoor area that is smoker friendly with tvs that are always playing whatever game is on. All the servers are great and very friendly.

Food & service was good, but not great. I only got one margarita because we weren't visited often enough to order more.

First of all this is the most mediocre Mexican I have ever had my mom is originally from Jalisco Mexico I know good authentic Mexican food my mom is 65 as she owned operated and prepared food for Mexican restaurant s and catering for events to describe the food I went there recently to try it out for the first time I ordered a four item combo it was 19.00 I expected it to be authentic that is the opposite of what I received on a plate the beef taco was soaked in grease there was literally grease dripping out of it the taco shell was so soggy as if it were dipped in grease the meat had no flavor it had no seasoning at all it tasted like somebody just boiled shedded meat and stuck it in a taco the lettuce was fine the cheese tasted very processed and was extremely cold the Chile relleno was the worst they put cottage cheese in one of the peppers that's not how you prepare Chile relleno properly it tasted terrible finally I proceeded to try the beans and rice the rice wasn't fully cooked it was stale the refried beans was liquidy as if somebody just spilled water in it or squirted it from a tube any moisture it would have been a refried bean shake I wouldn't serve this food to my worst enemy finally at the end of my meal that I tried to enjoy but failed my stomach began to erupt I felt so nautious dizzy light headed and fluid from the grease began to rise to my chest I ran to the bathroom as quickly as i could not knowing where it was I made it and regurgitated all the food that I had eaten I felt an instant relief like a hurricane just ended in my stomach and a rainbow had formed as a result to the food that was ejected from my body it was the worst Mexican dining experience I have ever encountered the quality of the food was very poor below the anticipated standards for what be expected at a casual Mexican restaurant finally check arrives I had told the manager what had happened and that is the last time I would ever set foot in that Establishment the manager became hostile toward me said I had to pay for the meal even though it was disgusting I refused so he let me go taco bell is more enjoyable than this place do not eat here there are so many other better Mexican that I've had that are better this this places food tasted straight out of the freezer if you like frozen Mexican food that is not authentic I recommend you eat here thank you

Food is always good. Sadly the place smelled. Restrooms outdated and staff spoke little English. Will always be a favorite spot of mine diapite the communication issues. Food was fantastic

Food was really good, and the service was fantastic. However for the price, the quality of the children's food was sub-par. The chicken nuggets looked like they were taken straight out of a freezer bag.

The food is great!! The bathroom not so much...one toilet broken handle 2nd almost broken handle 3 stall door broken won't shut..sink the faucet wiggles all over the place almost ready to come off need to get plumber in here!!!

A lot of ppl made bad review but I say 4 outta 5 Salsa could have been just a bit better other than that it was decent...

I love their Arroz Con Pollo! (Rice with chicken) Better than any other restaurant that offers it! They are generous with the portion, so I always get a second meal for lunch the next day! Their chips could be lighter and their salsa is a tad spicy to me, but my husband likes it.

It was a pretty quiet Sunday when we walked in. We were seated promptly and the waiter, Ariel, took our drink order quickly as well. The restaurant had come highly recommended by my SO's boss, so my expectations were high. I was pleasantly surprised. Even though the restaurant got busier while we were there, and we saw our waiter covering a lot of tables - we never felt rushed or ignored. We never saw the bottoms of our chip basket and our drinks. The chips tasted homemade. Our food came after just a long enough wait so you don't think it's microwaved, lol. My burritos de carnitas was good! It was stuffed with meat. I had to fight off my SO! I was very happy and took the time to send word to the Manager. Ariel was great and I loved how the whole staff pitched in to make for a great dining experience. My only regret is that I was driving, or I would have tried the very interesting looking cocktail menu. �

Best huevos rancheros--a great start to 2016 food love. Hubby had shrimp cocktail with generous shrimp. If you like extra heat ask for a side of the habanero sauce. Sergio the bartender is the best!
