Review Carlitos's Diner - Huntington Beach

Came here for the taco Tuesday special. We ordered 3 shredded beef and 3 shredded chicken jr tacos since they were under $2 each. Decent size for a jr, loaded with lettuce and cheese. Meat was tasty, salsa was good. We preferred the chicken over the beef. Lots of choices of other items including sandwiches, smash burgers and more Mexican food. Close to work so this was easy!

Good Mexican and American food. I enjoyed the carne asada burrito and my spouse had the Philly steak Sandwich both were delicious. We will definitely go back.

Carlito's in Huntington Beach is a great new Mexican restaurant option either to order for take-out or to dine in. You will meet the sweetest lady behind the counter who works so hard to ensure all customers are happy and loving their food! The inside dining area has a diner feel to it, and it is very clean and welcoming. There is quite an extensive menu of items to choose from, with breakfast options served all day. We enjoyed our chicken fajitas and shredded beef taco combo plates and will return to try some of the other items on the menu.

Mucho gusto Martha and Carlitos Diner! If I could rate it 10 stars I would! Despite the phenomenal tacos they customized at a very reasonable price, it was her customer service in assisting me find something to eat for my toddler (may be on the spectrum) that struggles with tastes and textures sometimes... AFTER I have ordered her food. She would not charge me or let me tip. Family friendly, disability friendly, veteran supporter, DELICIOUS FOOD and very authentic, GREAT prices and customer service! Great Mexican food served by a very nice family. My family has come here since they opened and we always enjoy our meals. I usually get the chorizo breakfast plate. It is very filling and has a lot of great flavor. I recommend this place if you are in the area. Great authentic Mexican food!

We're from out of town and stopped here for breakfast based on good Yelp reviews. We weren't disappointed. First of all, all employees were super warm and helpful, helping us with recommendations. We split a plate of green chilaquiles and they were delicious. It's counter service and they bring your meal to you at your table. Tables were clean. Just a good experience all around.

I tried Carlito's for the first time and it was authentic Mexican food! They have Posole and it's really good! Tacos are crispy and not overly oily. Their beef and their beans and rice are on point. Plenty of chips and salsa Rojo and Verde. I'll go back for sure.

Originally rated the restaurant 5 stars. The 1st time I ordered posole and it was great, and so was the service. 2nd and 3rd time, food was great, but service wasn't the best. I decided to dine in for my 3rd visit and couldn't understand why I had to call the waitress over after sitting at the table for 15 minutes after my meal was finished. She never checked on me and she didn't make eye contact once until I waved at her to come to my table. She smiles occasionally, but her customer service isn't the best. Another reason I rated Carlito's 3 stars this time is because everytime I ask for an extra sauce I'm asked to pay. Wanted a side of green salsa for my wet burrito because it was a little dry (even for a wet burrito) and they wanted to charge me $2 for 2oz. The problem is not only do they charge for a small extra sauce, but I've watched them give extra sauces on the side at no charge to other people. Really hoping that it's not a racially profiled decision. Might have to stay away for a while. Hopefully if I return service will improve. I returned 10/6/18 and had to change the stars back to 5. Apparently they actually value the customers opinions! And the posole... I just can't get enough!

I've been here a couple times and each time I tried something, I wanted to come back to try more. I would recommend the Huevos Rancheros. I was also pleasantly surprised how good their chicken enchiladas were. The chicken was so flavorful. Most recently I tried their Burrito Rancheros (as shown in picture). This burrito is no joke, it's huge! Comes with a side of guac and sour cream.

Genuinely the best hard TACOS around. The people who work here are always super nice and it makes me want to keep coming back! Update from a year later… this place still holds up day in and day out. I’ve found the Al Pastor wet burrito to be so out of this world I’m writing this update from Andromeda! 👨‍🚀 Update 6/1/23 Menudo is insanely good, some of the most fresh I’ve ever had. Couldn’t recommend it highly enough!

Hands down, one of the if not the best Mexican restaurants around! The food is so well made. You will not be disappointed! The Beef crunchy tacos are my favorite but literally everything on their menu is to die for. I would say Carlitos Diner is better than our previous local favorite Mario's . I highly advise giving them a try! This is a family ran business. Carlos and his family are the nicest, most humble and hard working people I have ever met. Support local!

Bare bones ambiance but the food is good and authentic. Prices are very reasonable. The daily specials are always a good deal.

The food here is so good. The service is always great and very friendly. My only issue was the sudden change in the fries they used in the asada fries on my most recent visit. They used sliced potatoes and I wasnt a fan at all. The toppings were great like usual but I just didn't like the slices of potatoes they used this time. Over all though their food is really good. Definitely a must try if you're local or in the area.

Had breakfast and dinner there yesterday. Food is good, they serve more than Mexican food. Breakfast was french toast, my favorite, bacon and two eggs...delicious. Dinner was Monday quisidilla, with shredded pork, very tasty. The place is kept very clean. It is family owned and run. They all work very hard. ..give them a try!

I wanted the chilaquiles plate. It was perfect homemade taste. The people are friendly and attentive. The decor is lovely and welcoming. Its a gem. Great place to have a date, bring ur bff for lunch or just have a dinner with kids.

The service was exceptional and the food matched how great the service was. Highly recommend this establishment and will be a regular!

If you are looking for a fresh home-cooked Mexican meal and you want to feel like part of the family then Carlitos's is a great find. Having eaten in the home of several seasoned cooks in Mexico and having eaten at top Mexican restaurants all over California and Mexico it is hard to find somewhere that can make me feel at home and taste really good. My wife and I wave eaten here several times within the last few weeks after discovering Carlitos's and were hooked. We walked in and were immediately welcomed by Carlos himself and he thanked us just for walking in the door. Our first visit was for breakfast and we got the Huevos Rancheros and Chilaquiles and both were PHENOMENAL! The Chilaquiles were crunchy and soft just as they should be, the salsa verde was excellent, just the right amount of cheese on the beans that were clearly fresh and the rice (which is so often overlooked) was fresh and had some veggies mixed in which was a nice touch. The Huevos Rancheros were the best I've ever had since they had perfectly cooked chili verde on top and the egg was precisely over medium. We were thanked profusely for coming in by Carlos and his wife and we felt at home. We came back with more family and we got the Huevos Rancheros and Chilaquiles again to make sure they were as good as we remembered and everyone has been raving about them since. Our office made a to go order and everything was right, ready when promised and made it back to the office still delicious. We came in today for lunch and branched out with a crunchy chicken taco, enchilada with green sauce and Carnitas plate which were all great again. Both Carlos and his wife Gabby are incredibly nice and welcoming and the prices are VERY reasonable! Thank you for staring this restaurant, we will be back again soon.

I love this place! So hard to find good Mexican food that's well-prepared with solid ingredients. This place does that AND they are so nice! Always getting take out here and still always have a great experience. Plus, pozole EVERY day of the week! Huge bonus!! I'm not just a fan, I'm a customer!

Recently became regulars Carlitos's Diner. We love the food & service. Taco Tuesday is a GREAT deal! Besides Mexican food, we've also enjoyed breakfast & burgers. My wife appreciates practicing her Espanol with Carlitos & Gabby. Highly recommend this family-owned business!

Since when does Huevos Rancheros come with pork on top??? Waiter was rude when we told him we were allergic to pork. Then even though we could not eat it, he made us pay for it!!! POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! We will never come back!
