Review Saffron Grill - Huntington Beach

This isn't your garden-variety "Mediterranean" or "Middle Eastern" restaurant. Sure, you can order your kabob or falafel, but this is really an authentic Persian restaurant. Now, Persian cuisine is not like Arab cuisine (unlike what unfortunately too many people in America seem to think, Persians aren't Arabs...) It has its distinctive flavors and uses spices that are often different than those used in other Middle Eastern cuisines. I'm definitely a fan, and I'm telling you that while there are hundreds of "generic" Middle Eastern restaurants in Orange Co., finding a Persian restaurant just isn't as easy. This is very much a "mom&pop" place, where the food is prepared with love and pride. And it won't disappoint you. In fact, it's quite spectacular. I suggest you try the Borani and the Tadig as appetizers. The former is mashed eggplants cooked with grilled onions, mint, and whey. Fantastic flavor! The latter is crispy rice from the bottom of the rice pot, plain or accompanied by a delicious chicken stew. As for entrees, you can't really go wrong with anything on the menu. The service was extremely corteous and reasonably fast (it's not a fast food restaurant, so don't expect your order to be served after 3 minutes...) Prices are very reasonable. The "lunch specials" are probably the best deals. Highly recommended.

Excellent food quality and flavor. I love this place. Expect your food to take long because they are grilling it from scratch. The older gentleman is a sweetheart. This will be my go to place whenever I am in town.

This place is literally perfect. The food is so good. The vegetables are high quality and fresh. The feta melts in your mouth. Everything is good!

Absolutely amazing Mediterranean restaurant. The servers are friendly and playful and the food is wholeheartedly delicious! The portion size is large but the atmosphere is very small, modern, cozy and clean. It's a bit pricey, but definitely well worth it.

I liked the place portions were big and I hoped so with a 25 price per plate, I got the beef and one of my buddies got the lamb which he didnt really enjoy said is was bland.,only real complaint I have was at the end our waitress never came back around to give us the check I had go and get it for myself.

Stumbled upon this place while visiting the area and it was delicious and authentic Persian food! The owners served us and were kind and friendly and everything from the tea to the kabab was perfect (even the kids enjoyed). Definitely recommend.

Phenomenal. Was visiting near Huntington Beach and found this little gem of a restaurant. Everything tasted more flavorful and authentic than most restaurants I’ve tried in the past. You will not be disappointed.

I have been going to this Persian cuisine restaurant since 2008 , and Soheila and Abbas are exceptionally by far the best! The taste and portions are great and very reasonable prices. They always go outta their way in customer satisfaction and I would recommend this Persian Resturant the Best! You will not be disappointed.

Outstanding service, great portions of quite delicious food and very friendly owners, Saffron Grill is definitely a place I’d return to. The beef kabobs are the best I have ever had and of high quality beef. It was really nice to get to know the owners who are very welcoming and generous. They take every measure to be sure you are happy with your meal and they care! Wow!! You won’t be disappointed.

This place was AMAZING! I like Mediterranean food and have tried many places which have been satisfactory, but this place was so authentic and warmly inviting that I felt like I was eating at a Greek home with a real family. Delicious food and great service from a family run small business, that's what it's all about. Cannot recommend this place enough. Will definitely be back!

i came here with a good friend who is persian. the owner was chatting with him and found out that they were from the same town. the owner gave us the most exceptional service and the best persian food. most notable was the yoghurt salad which my friend requested to be his preferred version. highly recommended for their authentic taste, clean and fast service.

I absolutely adore the place!!!! Been eating here for years!!! My favorite persian food in HB.The owner and staff are always super friendly and service is excellent.Remember it is cooked to order "Fresh" with high quality ingredients and may take a few minutes...But,always delicious 😋😋😋 finished off with her secret cardamom tea...I no longer live in the area.But,always visit when in town.Its my "go to" for comfort food!!! 😊💗😋👍

I went there for the first time last week. Their owners are very welcoming. The food is delicious. I loved the Mixed Rice of the day (Rice with Dates and dry berries). The Chicken Shish Kabob is good. It comes with a bed of rice and a Side Salad.

A small resturant with biggest heart when comes to customer service. The food is just superb and extraordinary. Very tasty and delicious dishes. I felt like visiting my Aunt's kitchen back home again. You should try it and judge yourself. I will definitely re visit them again.
