Review Gyu-kaku Japanese Bbq - Huntington Beach

Definitely one of the most delicious bbqs I've had in quite a very long time. Due to COVID all you can eat was not available so we went with a 4-person course meal (we were on 3 people), and man each and every one of us were in our happy place! Great food, very friendly and accommodating staff, I highly recommend you check this place out, especially if you've never had Japanese BBQ before!

This is a Japanese BBQ place and has great service. They have lots of options for vegetarians. The quality of the meats are always good. The salad also is very delicious. They have lots of seafood options as well. A great bar too. They also have a kids menu. I will say the reason this place doesn't get 5 stars is because the menus are so confusing. They handed is like 3 menus and when I asked about a special she told me one thing but after further investigation I found out that Mondays are happy hour? It's very confusing.

Always a great experience here. Joe is a great server. He is always attentive and professional. The food is excellent. I miss dining inside but they have patio dining during the pandemic. Unfortunately, they only have 3 tables outside. Arrive early. It's totally worth it. Update: There is inside dining again. Food is still great. Service is still wonderful.

So much better than the Cerritos location. We got the all you can eat, which Cerritos won’t offer, and Huntington Beach is open for lunch. Which again, Cerritos won’t offer. My new favorite location is Huntington Beach!!!! We WILL be back. Won’t spend another dime in Cerritos!!! And lastly, the staff at Huntington Beach, much friendlier. Huge plus !!!

Great customer service. They open for dine-in in the front of the restaurant (3 tables only) so you might need to reserve first. The wait is not too long if the party is under 4. I like the ninja combo. Great meat quality, but if you like side dish like me then this restaurant does not have as many as Manpuku Costa Mesa or Kang Ho Dong Baek Jeong. Overall, a great place for Japanese BBQ, but not the best one.

Came for happy hour and it was great. We did the happy hour set and ordered a hot sake with two beers all for $80. We left feeling full but not stuffed which was perfect. Servers were attentive. We will definitely be back to try their other sets

This place is a really fun date night restaurant! It's more interactive and is fun to cook in the middle of your own table. My husband and I used to go here at least 3-4 time's a month when we lived in Hawaii so we were excited to find out there was one somewhat close to San Clemente. The servers are really nice and very helpful if you have never been there before. The cuts of meat are really good and their drinks are good as well. I definitely recommend this restaurant!! 🙂🙂🙂

I took the family here 4 my daughter's birthday. Everything we ordered had amazing flavor - meats, rice, noodles, egg soup, shrimp. It's a small place serving up big flavors! So you better get a reservation to keep safe!

The service was really good, food was really good. They really need a better beer selection They didn't have much to offer, also it makes no sense on how if you have a big party you can't use the big table only walk in ppl can use the big table, you can reserve it for your big party. The regular tables are small so why not let ppl make a reservation for the big table.??? Please Work on this issue 🙏🏽 other than that I give it 👍🏼👍🏼

Summary: Outstanding service provided by Laney, delicious beef dishes, furniture not in good shape. Will come back. We have been to Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ several times before, but this visit was special as we brought our kids along. Despite our reservation being for 6 PM through OpenTable, the host kindly accommodated us at 5:30 PM with a short wait. We requested boosters for our kids, but they weren't ideal as they were a bit far from the table for our toddler's reach. It would be more convenient to have high chairs that could be brought closer to the table. Our server, Laney, provided outstanding customer service throughout our dining experience. She patiently answered all our questions about the dishes and ensured that any modifications we requested were properly clarified. For example, we asked for the chili dumplings to be served with the sauce on the side, including all the crunchy garlic, and Laney made sure it was done just right. We started with the Steamed Chili Dumplings and Takoyaki as our appetizers. The chili sauce with crispy garlic was absolutely amazing, adding a delightful kick to the dumplings. The takoyaki had a dense texture, which I do not like much. For the grill, we ordered the Bistro Hanger Steak, Kalbi Chuck Rib, Toro Beef, and Yaki-Shabu Beef. The Bistro Hanger Steak was a huge hit with our kids, as the meat was incredibly juicy and melted in their mouths! The Toro Beef (beef belly) was delightfully fatty and became perfectly crispy when grilled. However, the Beef Sukiyaki Bibimbap fell short of our expectations, as it only came with two pieces of meat. The rice was served in a hot stone bowl, and the longer it stayed in the pot, the crispier it became. While the food was delicious, we couldn't ignore the worn condition of the table we were seated at, with cracked leather seats. The boosters provided were also showing signs of age, with lifting edges. Despite these minor issues, the overall positive experience overshadowed them. Hopefully, on our next visit, we will be seated at a different table that is in better shape.

Nelson, Bryan & Evelyn are awesome! We came here for the lunch special & had a delicious lunch. It was fun to cook our own meat. Great service & fun music!

The service was outstanding. They take your temperature, and ask you if you’ve been sick. The food is fresh to serve. You cook your own food. Will cost you around $15 per person.

Great night out with the wife. Food was ridiculously 🔥 too. Not much of a beef eater but when we do order beef cuts they're not as tender as I would expect. Other than that food is 🔥

This for real one of my favorite AYCE Spots. Hands down the best quality meats hence the prices are steeper than KBBQ. this is Japanese BBQ and different in many ways but give it a shot
