Dinner at the Tavern at Rivertown Lodge last night was one of the most wonderful dining experiences I have ever had! Great atmosphere, warm and knowledgeable server, DELICIOUS food. I over ordered because I had a hard time deciding - I wanted everything on the menu. Even though I couldn’t possibly eat any more... I couldn’t say no to dessert. That was a good decision. The chef came out to chat with us and we really enjoyed his company. We can’t wait to go back and look forward to sharing with friends.
Outstanding Sunday brunch today & many other days. Kind, friendly & professional staff always welcome us as we walk in the door.
Excellent ***** food. #LuckyHudson
Just spent a relaxing long weekend with my daughter and my 110 pound Bernese Mountain Dog, Bella, at the Rivertown Lodge. First off, the service at this establishment is exceptional! Micheal greeted and took care of us as if we were family. Our room was immaculately clean, cozy, and well appointed with a VERY comfortable bed and soft, thick Brooklinen bathroom towels. The location is ideal for walking to the many restaurants, shops, and spas in the downtown area. The common areas were inviting with free coffee and tea available, as well as several areas to sit and relax. In the evening they create a soothing, calm atmosphere with tea light candles placed throughout. I look forward to staying at the Rivertown Lodge again the next time I am in Hudson!
First time here. Small bar restaurant area but the ambience is very nice. Service was friendly.. The food had the potential to be excellent. It fell short due to the small size of the portions (for the price) and the amount of salt used in both the pasta I had and the scallops. In my opinion, the overuse of salt was unnecessary as the food was very flavourful on its own. My husbands duck was flavorful but tough. Gave them a 4 not a 3 because there was definitely some effort made and the host was great.
Had an excellent experience dining at Rivertown Lodge last night! Everything from the small plates (bread, almonds, olives) to the larger appetizers and the entrees was absolutely delicious! The brussel sprouts were the most insane dish I’ve had in a while. Also loved the tagliatelle and the scallops. Will definitely be back here! Very cute ambiance too.
A very rare find! The quality of food served is exquisite and surpassed my expectations. Goes without saying the service is top-notch. Highly recommend. And by the way, if you’re one of those customers who get upset for not having too many fries in their plate, this restaurant is not for you
We had an amazing meal here yesterday so I just had to share. We decided to go with a spread of shared plates/apps and everything was amazing.
The foie gras dish was different and the best foie gras dish I’ve ever had; sugar snap peas, strawberries, foie gras, cocoa nibs (seriously, an unexpected ingredient and mind blowing addition to the plate) and miso. The foie gras was thinly shaved over the whole dish and was just so light and decadent at the same time. All those flavors worked so well together; a stellar dish.
Another stand out was the whipped ricotta and blueberry mostarda and pickled mushrooms served with pillowy, charred sourdough bread, so simple and so brilliant.
We also got - escarole with cashew vinaigrette, black limes and bread crumbs. Mackeral crudo with green almond aji amarillo and coconut milk. Oyster mushrooms with pipian, pumpkin seeds and bread crumbs. Asparagus with farro dressed with brown butter ponzu and topped with cheddar and black truffles.
We ordered several cocktails and all of them were very good. My dessert cocktail, Coffee Cold Brown and Indifferent, was the best and most balanced coffee liqueur cocktail I’ve had to date.
The desserts were great, especially the pea ice cream with white chocolate, macadamia and coffee.
The menu is very seasonal and filled with unexpected but well thought out flavor pairings. The chef definitely knows his stuff. The outdoor seating is nice but there are no exciting views attached. The patio is dog friendly (in fact the boutique motel is also very dog friendly) The service was very attentive and helpful. Reservations need to be booked in advance, it’s a very popular spot. We highly recommend this place, and if you have to travel a bit know that Warren Street (the main street in Hudson) is a very fun and walkable strip and there are a few nice bar options if you want to make a trip of it.
The mark of a great chef is consistently executing quality over months and years. I have eaten at Rivertown over a dozen times, and each time the food is fantastic. Never disappointed, even with a changing, seasonal menu. Asparagus with brown-butter ponzu, faro, cheddar, and black truffle = savoury delicious 🤤 . Snap peas, miso, strawberries, and fois gras = mind blown 🤯. Impressive how chef mix japanese & western ingredients seamlessly into creative and impeccably balanced dishes. Miso, ponzu, yuzu, all play supporting roles throughout the menu, alongside truffle, fois, and fine cheeses. Natural wine list, good cocktails, good atmosphere. Whats not to like?
Completely dog friendly and really welcoming to our pup. Michael and the entire staff were courteous, attentive, and made sure our stay was fun. There are great restaurants for take out or outdoor dining with the dog.
Michael even drove us to the train station when we couldn't find a car! Will definitely be coming back for another weekend getaway.
