Review Maharajah Restaurant - Houston

I was craving good Indian food during my visit to Houston and came across this restaurant. After checking Google reviews, I went there and got some food back to hotel. As I was not feeling well, I didn't try any non veg dishes. I got samosa, dal fry, mix veg and butter naan. I would say that all the items were delicious. The owner of the restaurant is also a nice person as we had some good conversations while waiting for the food to be prepared.

Maharaja restaurant has some of the best Bengali katla/rohu fish curries available in Houston. We have been here many times to try out the curries with rice. Their fried chicken pakora appetizer is also very tasty and crispy. They have a buffet menu in the afternoon lunch hours which is also pretty good. They also serve large and small party trays for house parties and events. Their fish kalias are very tasty indeed. However, you would have to go and pick up the trays yourself from the restaurant.

First time we ate at the restaurant. We went during buffet lunch. It was really good and go again.

Went there to try their special Bangladeshi-type Chinese buffet on Wednesday Nights. Loved the food. After a long time, we got a restaurant that actually provides food with the exact Bangladeshi flavor and spice level. From the appetizers to entree to dessert everything was just perfect and tremendously delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant. One thing, if you want to enjoy the dinner buffet, You should go very first hours of the dinner. The late you go, the food becomes a bit messy.

Have been going to this place for a long time. Never thought of giving a review since it is always crowded or has their party center booked. Well, the Chinese buffet is good, the chow-mein is a crowd pleaser, love the bite-sized chicken fry and thai soup. I tried their appetizers too here and there and it is not bad. I like their Bangladeshi buffet too. I just wish the place was more clean especially the floors and they would have a new coat of paint on the walls. But they have renovated the bathroom. It is super clean. Staff is cordial and helpful too.

The $13 lunch buffet (as of Oct 2023; even on Sunday) lacks variety but is decently tasty… if only a tad bit bland – although the goat curry was actually quite nice. You can order certain items not on the buffet at no extra cost, such as the “tandoori chicken” (always a treat), but not the “gulab jamun” or “chicken tikka masala”(this may be a deal-breaker for some). The dishes are spicier than average, though not overly so – keep that in mind, especially if you are taking younger children. We were given bottled water at no extra cost and our two toddlers – ages 3 and 4 – ate for free (we were three adults). The staff were all Bangladeshi and pretty friendly, though there was a bit of a language barrier with the lady who was serving us – which wasn’t really a problem; on the contrary, it was kind of interesting. All in all, the buffet comprised above average Bangladeshi/Indian-inspired food at affordable prices.

I went for buffet which was 12.99. Food was awesome. In loved the Tanduri chicken with naan. Samosa was also very good. Finally the desert, gulab jamun with rice pudding were delicious.

Moharaja Restaurant in Houston provided a true taste of Bangladesh, making me feel right at home. The lunch buffet was up to the mark with all the menus. The authentic flavors and friendly atmosphere made it a memorable dining experience.

We have been eating at Maharaza since 1980’s in another location at Bissonet. Obviously it was under different ownership. Since the current owner took over I don’t know exactly for how long. This is a Bangladeshi restaurant. They cook Indian and Pakistani dishes too. Now they also have a Chinese buffet along with regular items on every Thursday night. You have to be lucky to get a seat or table on Thursday night. First of all they cook with less grease, less spicy. But very testy. Our community have almost all the function such as Wedding, Birthday party etc. They were closed during pandemic. We couldn’t wait for them to reopen. I give two thumbs up. 👍 . We cannot wait to take our family for a nice dinner. Their service is immaculate. Owner Pavel greets everyone with a big smile. Enoch parking in the front and in the rear. Try it you will love it and you will get hooked.
