Review Harolds Gastrobar - Houston

I had the opportunity to dine at Harold's Shrimp and Chicken recently, and I must say, the food was absolutely amazing! I decided to try the 4 wings with the Chicago sauce, and it was a delightful choice. The flavors were rich and the wings were cooked to perfection. The customer service at Harold's was outstanding as well. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made sure that all my needs were met. The bartender also had some great drink options to complement the meal. Overall, I had a fantastic experience at Harold's Shrimp and Chicken and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for delicious food and excellent service.

We went into Harold's for the first time on a Wednesday night 730, and they had a couple of people inside waiting. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a smile and was told you can sit wherever you like and we will come take your order. We sat at the bar. The establishment is nice, clean, professional and the music was on point (R and B) old school. The bar area has T.V.'s so we watched the basketball game. We ordered 2 side cars' cocktails, and the young lady was very confident in her bar skills, and I loved it! Next, we ordered 12 wing, it comes with fries, 2 pieces of catfish with fries, 3 jumbo shrimp, fried okra, and Philly steak egg rolls. The egg rolls came out first fresh out the grease. Now them wings are WHOLE wings, NOT DRUMETTES, again fresh out the grease THEY ARE NOT like all the other places! The wings reminded me of my mother and grandmother frying wings. Everything was GREAT! I DO MEAN EVERYTHING! GO SUPPORT THIS ESTABLISHMENT, You will not regret it! Yes, it's Black owned, and I will be back! Disclaimer: we had already started eating before I took the pictures!!!

Highly Recommend!!! This was our first time trying Harold's and I'm glad we did. The atmosphere is so laid back and welcoming. Our server had a great personality and she was knowledgeable of their menu. Now let's talk about the food....HOT, FRESH, COOKED TO ORDER, AND WORTH EVERY PENNY YOU SPEND ON IT! Please do not sleep on this place, it truly is one of the best chicken restaurants we've gone to in a while. Don't walk, run to try it and soon!

The fried chicken batter was seasoned and crispy... the chicken was juicy. The red sauce was delicious as well as the powered lemon pepper. Had both placed on the side. Definitely would return.

This was our first time eating here. The food was great. The service was AMAZING! I was a little surprised about the price. It was way more than I expected to pay, but I would definitely recommend trying it.

First visit 7/21/23. This was some of the best fried chicken & catfish I've had. Seasoned & flavorful to the max.

I wish I had taken pictures of my food but I was so hungry I just dug in!!! Every time I’m in Houston I stop here at least once for dinner. The food is seasoned to perfection!! I never have to add anything! They are consistent. Every time I come I get the same quality and deliciousness that I look forward to. The ladies at the counter always greet me with a smile and are so pleasant!!! If you haven’t been here I recommend you go, I always order take out but if you like to listen to music and groove while you eat by all means take a seat 😊

It's crunchy, juicy, and mild sauce isn't to spicy (if you want spicier they have a spicy one). Definitely tastier than the typical fast food chains. I had tried them in Chicago, it was really good, after that I came back to Houston to try this location. Great flavor just like Chicago! Will be coming back for the juicy, crunchy, fall off the bone wings!

As a Chicago native, this Harold’s has special place in my heart while I’m here in Houston. The food is always fresh, they don’t take too long to make the food, a the mild sauce is spot on. My only con is that they put enough mild sauce on the chicken sometimes. So make sure you ask for extra mild sauce and lemon pepper if that’s how you like it.

Didn’t believe it when I seen it on TikTok but Harold’s really does have some of the best fried chicken I have had in a longgggg time. Nice lil restaurant great service , good music and good food. When visited it was probably about half capacity and yet the service staff was very efficient fast and friendly.

When I tell you I wouldn’t not be able to replicate and experience like this anywhere else. From the staff to the owner everything about here is perfect! And I don’t use that term lightly. So let me provide some tips to help with your experience 1. Patience- Rome wasn’t built in a day so expect when it come to your chicken. It will be fresh like pipping hot. As a result you may have to wait. But when I tell you it’s worth the chicken you will get I mean it 2 “Another round” - Sasha when I tell you their bartender don’t miss she doesn’t miss. I have been here at total of 4 times and she doesn’t disappoint. 3 Enjoy yourself - the location speaks for its self. You are greeting by staff and from beginning to end you will be catered to as well assisted by all. First impressions is everything and they leave a lasting one. Bria and Red so far have been my servers and they are above and beyond amazing. And the owner Martin has gone above and beyond to make sure this place is everything we expect

Visited Harold's Shrimp & Chicken yesterday by recommendation of an Instagram post. The overall experience was pretty good. The service, the atmosphere, and the food made for an enjoyable evening. When we first walked in we were immediately greeted by a kind young lady who gave us the option to be seated anywhere we wanted. After we were seated she asked if she could get us started with any drinks. She did provide us with a food and drink menu, but since it was our first rodeo with them, we asked what she recommended, my cousin likes fru-fru drinks so the young lady recommended the Strawberry Lemon Drop for her. My beau likes tarty drinks so she recommended the Obamarita for him. I'm a hardcore drinker; so she recommended the Kanye Krazy for me (I have enclosed a pic of the drink menu for you). Overall the drinks were ok, they just needed a little more alcohol added to them. You can definitely add an extra shot for an additional charge. My cousin ordered a 2nd lemon drop with a double shot and it tasted sooo...much better. Now for the food....what I love about this establishment your food is made to order. Everything was super hot and fresh! I ordered the catfish & shrimp. It comes on a bed of crinkle fries, which are my favorite! You can get cole slaw, but I elected for extra fries instead. My food was pretty good, just a little heavy on the salt, but seasoned very welll. My beau ordered three chicken legs and onion rings. After placing our orders, the waitress came and informed my beau they only had two chicken legs available! She asked if he wanted a breast or thigh instead. He elected to sub for a wing. My cousin ordererd the wings and shrimp. Forgot to mention we ordered the Philly Cheesesteak Eggrolls off of the appetizer menu, they were pretty good as well. During the course of our meal a gentleman approached our table and asked if we were ok. I assume he was a manager. I really appreciate great customer service like that. Overall I recommend this establishment

I've been to this establishment 3 times already. The chicken is amazing. It's always fresh and hot. I've been told that it's cooked upon request which is about a 15 minute wait. I love that about them. I've always ordered when I was on my way to work and the smell from this chicken would always make me pull over just to take a bite and the chicken is seasoned very well through and through. I drive 40 minutes at least once a week just for the chicken and vibes!!! Hands down the best chicken in the city! It was fresh, and full of flavors but not salty. Great and fast service will be back

My sister came in for a visit and wanted to come here. Harold's shrimp and chicken did not disappoint! I had chicken wings, French fries- they did forget my Cole slaw but food was so tasty didn't realize it until I got home! I think we will go back tomorrow before my sister leaves!

I called in my order, and the employee taking my order was extremely polite and thorough. When I arrived, my food was hot and ready. I ordered the large catfish and wings combo, and it did not disappoint! Both the fish and wings were well seasoned. I had enough to share with my family, and they enjoyed it as well. I look forward to going back!
