Review La Corona - Houston

The food was very good and our server was very sweet. His enthusiasm was a lighthearted addition to the meal. I appreciate that their beans are made with oil rather than lard so that I could eat them.

Great staff, very friendly and great attention to detail. The restaurant was very clean. I loved the decor. The tables and chairs looked hand carved and painted. Our food was hot, and seasoned just right. I got the Acapulco dinner and it did not disappoint. My daughter's enchiladas were crab, I was expecting lump crab ...it was finely shredded. They were good, but a little different from what we expected. My husband and son ordered enchilada plates and they were good as well. The churros were crispy ....maybe a little too hard ...and doughy on the inside, but had a nice flavor. I'm just used to churros a littler tenderer ....lightly crisp ...just not hard. We enjoyed ourselves, and will go back to try more menu items.

Great food and wonderful drinks!! Service is also top-notch. My new favorite place for Mexican cuisine.

Came here for the first time, and I was blown away. Food was the HOTEST I've ever been served. When I say hot, I mean out of the oven hot. My food was bubbling . The service and quality of food were great. I will return for dessert and drinks. Went back a day later and had the menudo and a carnita taco. 😋. IMHO the best menudo I've had .

Hands down, this place is awesome. Pepe, the owner, came and introduced himself. Then he brought me some specialty salsa, which was great, but way spicier than what they serve with the chips (which is fantastic! - served hot). Food was excellent! Price was decent. Service was great. In fact, the beef fajita meat was the best I've ever had. For real. It was fork tender and full of flavor. I usually get chicken fajitas because beef is usually tough. Not here! It was amazing! Drinks are a little pricey. Perhaps a happy hour would benefit both the establishment and customers alike. They were good, though. I got a skinny margarita and my wife got the bloody Mary, both of which were excellent. Highly recommended. If you're gonna get Mexican and you're in the area, go here.

Atmosphere and service was great. My friends for the fajita nachos and crispy fajita tacos, which they said were super good! I got the blue margarita and shrimp cocktail they were both delicious! The shrimp cocktail had the perfect amount of shrimp and spice. Can’t wait to go back!

Went to visit for lunch with one other person. The food was authentic and tasty- the salsa was perfect! It was worth the money. The resturant has cute interior and even has custom wood chairs with designs that I haven’t seen at other places. The service was also great - our waiter made sure we got everything we needed.

Stopped by for lunch, first time visiting. The Corona Rita was excellent, Paloma really good also. The beef fajita enchiladas were delicious, stuffed with fajita meat and tons of sauce and cheese. Wait staff was great, checked in regularly and items came out quick. I was a little surprised with the price, a little more expensive than I was expecting. But everything was great so will come back again at some point.

We sat outside on a warm, breezy night and it was absolutely wonderful. They took great care of us. I had the crab enchiladas. There are no words that can describe how happy I was with my enchiladas. I cannot remember what my husband had but he loved it. Five stars for sure!

If you looking for authentic Mexican food this is the place to come. Small place but the food is delicious and not so expensive. The fajita for two that I order came with lobster, chicken, beef, and shrimps— it also came with rice and beans for like $59. Their margaritas were pretty good. The attention to their customers were spot on too

I’m not gonna lie I’m a frequent and loyal customer to la corona and for good reason. Ever since my first dine in here I felt extremely welcomed. The survive is outstanding. And the best part was the food is absolutely delicious. Like I said I’m a frequent here and the service, and food is consistent. Now every time I go in they know which salsa I like and which appetizers I usually get. I gotta say I love the chips and salsa here alone is so good. I recommend trying the crab enchiladas they’re so different and even better the taste is really something. I could go on and on the whole menu is great!!! Go here please it’s so good!

Probably for the finer palate (not me)—this is definitely not your TexMex garden variety Mexican food. The food here is much spicier—which reminds me of food from Quintana Roo, Campeche or Yucatán areas of Mexico. I’m not familiar with how to describe the flavor of the spices. I can tell you the salsa was warm and spicy. My fish in the fish tacos was cooked nicely. Whatever, the sauce was, it was too spicy for me. I took one taco home and used tartar sauce —which was perfect for me. The fresh made tortilla was really great. My mate’s chicken molé enchilada sauce was spicy, yet flavorful. They shredded the chicken, which was delightful-compared to how other places give you chunks. The cheese was lightly browned. The refried beans and rice were both kind of basic. This really reminded me of rice and beans in Quintana Roo. What really stood out —and earned five stars— was our water glasses were always refilled immediately. We never had an empty glass. All the waitstaff was so friendly. We couldn’t be certain who was our actual waiter because everyone waited on us.

First time there. It's very close to authentic Mexican food. The best Mexican food I've had lately. Great service.

Excellent service, great food and margaritas. I had a skinny top shelf and some beef dish with onions, guacamole, etc. Very tasty and did I mention super friendly service. Great place to feast!

The restaurant is beautiful, cozy and yummy treat to anyone who loves a more authentic Mexican food. I like their lunch menu. Their salsa and chips are great. Very friendly staff. Try their enchiladas, yummy!!

Nice, quaint Mexican restaurant nestled in Vintage Park. We've visited twice now and both times were really good. The waiters are very attentive and the food was better than I expected. Loved some of the decor such as the loteria tabletop and the unique picture that captivated us for at least 5 minutes!

Service was great, not obnoxious. The food was really delicious. Had the beef fajitas and the fajitas poblanas. Super juicy meat, very tender and not at all chewy or with the usual carbon crust. For drinks we had the frozen house margarita which had a nice tequila kick and the paloma was super refreshing. Definitely recommend!
