Review Hb Japanese Steak House - Houston

Love this place! We've been HB customers for almost 20 years and went again last night for our anniversary. Excellent service by our outstanding server Bing Bing and cook Nguyen. Their fried rice really is the best around and we always order an extra to go with the leftovers from our main meal. So much food that I always end up with half of it left for another day.

We went for lunch which we had never done before. It was a great experience. Similar portion size as donner with a few differences but much better pricing. Still a great show by the hibachi chef and as always the Garlic Chicken Fried Rice was wonderful!

Reserved a table for a party of 10. We got in right away and was taken to our table It wasn't very nice and the show was awesome! We really did enjoy the food and the service! Everyone walked away with big smiles. We will definitely be back!

I was not greeted at walk in, I had to wait. The person that sat is was not speaking English and spoke to everyone else but me. Very rude. The chef could barely speak English, had a heavy Asian accent. Food was amazing! Loved the taste of the food! The show the chef gave was very minimal, I went there specially for the experience at the table. For the amount of food and money I spent, I would of perfered to have table to myself with my girl. I'd come back for food, but not anytime soon. Only person that saved the night was our waiter. I tipped him very well for being so attentive and caring despite that he was the only one for the entire restaurant. He's great!

Always a great experience when we go. The food is oh so good, but the garlic fried rice is my favorite. The staff is always professional and friendly. This is a must location to visit. If you're reading this... add it to your list :)

The food was top-notch, and the chef was amazing. The atmosphere was good. It had a very authentic Japanese feel to the restaurant. However, it was expensive. 80 dollars for a party of two. And I ended up having to grab my own to-go boxes from where they were on display, available for whoever needed one. Waiting for the table to fill up with other guests wasn't great, given that the chef didn't start cooking until the table filled up. We waited nearly 30 minutes for the table to have 8 people with everyone having ordered.

*** Food and a Show *** We come here frequently, they never disappoint. Typically they won't wear you down until everyone from your party is present. We were extremely hungry and they made an exemption for us. LOL, we are regulars.... I recommend this place. Seating arrangements are perfect even for big guys!

My all-time favorite hibachi restaurant. The food here is incredible and you can't beat the lunch prices! I ordered the mini steak, shrimp and scallops!

I haven't been here for at least 13 years due to the bad reviews. I missed out . I am not super easy to please but the waitress was on top of her game , the Hibachi chef was fun and talented and the food tasty. Will be back soon for sure !

If you want to have a delicious and healthy freshly cooked in front of you Japanese dinner, that's the place. Each table will have a cooking show. Great for a date as well☺️

The experience and chef was great. My 4 star rating is due to the "salad" it was simply lettuce with a dressing on top. I would not call it a salad. Also I'm not sure what kind of dressing it was however it wasn't the best tasting see photo. Our chef was entertaining and made the experience worth wanting to come back. I ordered fish & shrimp it was delicious. The fried rice will fill you up so don't eat that all right away.

There are no complaints about the food, it was pretty good and there was an abundance of it- you’ll definitely get full. The Hibachi experience is fun for family, especially kids. For my family of 3 which included 3 entrees, sushi roll, one bottle of beer and an order of sake it came out to $92 before gratuity. I don’t want to knock this place for not being as extravagant as other Hibachi grills I’ve been to, but for the pricing I feel the atmosphere could offer a little more. Nonetheless, my family left happy and full.

Good experience, great garlic butter. The Tempura is nice and light.

This was the first time my family and I ate at the HB Steak House and Sushi restaurant and was pleasantly surprised. The reviews I read seemed somewhat negative of the service. We on the other hand found the service very good. The hibachi chef was outstanding. He was friendly, fast and prepared a delicious meal. His skills with the various cooking tools were impressive.

HB is our favorite Japanese Steak House in Houston. The ginger dressing on the salad is the best! We live in Richmond, TX and make it a point to come out multiple times throughout the year.

My wife and I were excited that there is a Japanese Steakhouse near our new home...unfortunately, this place is awful. The food was mediocre, at best, the service was horrid, and the location is tired and worn out. I will never eat there again.

Bad service. Haven't been to the hibachi side, but the sushi was okay. Service was was less than okay. Wouldn't take a date there unless you aren't into getting drinks refilled and like feeling like you are cutting into your waitresses conversation time. Try wazabi for good sushi and good service

Not very good. Tea was bitter. Sushi was so salty almost unedible.

Boring and Bland. I've been to a number of Hibachi-style eateries in my lifetime, but all of those experiences pales in comparison to the absolutely horrid experience my husband and I had at HB. First off, the place is dark as a cave and was virtually -empty- on a Friday night -- not an indicator of a great place in my mind.

It had the standard offerings for those familiar with these kinds of places. The ginger dressing on my salad was thin and watery, more like ginger and mayonnaise flavored water than dressing. The onion soup was, again, more like onion flavored water. The "show" that is typically put on by the chefs for these tables was boring and sub-par with what I've come to expect from these kinds of places. It's like the guy wasn't even trying to be entertaining or connect with his half-empty table of patrons.

The shrimp and beef entree my husband and I ordered was bland and uninspired. I think the thing we enjoyed most was the tiny noodle portion they give you by way of an appetizer.

If you're looking for a worthwhile hibachi experience in Humble, please stick with Asian City in front of Deerbrook Mall. You'll get a much better experience for your money.

Awesome. Good food and good service! Show's are wonderful and the chef's are always full of jokes and surprises. Never had a dull night here.

Great for adult birthday group. Great place for large group birthday-you can bring your own cake!
Good hibachi shrimp and chicken!
Cooks are entertaining and skilled. Nice birthday pic with chef hat and Samurai sword is taken free of charge!
Lots of fun!
Reasonably priced with good menu selection. Tempura vegetables are awesomw. Loved the ginger dressing on the tiny salad. Only improvement needed is salad size.

The food was great and so was the show but the service was very poor. I split the Samurai Special which is Shrip, Chicken, and Beef with fried rice and vegetables. It was more than enough for 2 people. The waitress never offered me second drink or even a glass of water. They did not have sweet tea so when I asked for a spoon to stir in some sugar they told me they did not have any spoons! Instead they brought me a second fork. The waitresses also seemed like they were in a rush to get you out the door after you ate. I tipped the cook but the waitress didn't get a dime.

Great Group Restaurant!. Good chefs making great food for you and your friends. You have plenty of choices to choose from when it comes down to eating. You can choose your portions size and try some of there tea,it's the best!

If you don't want to drive to Benihana. This place is a nice alternative and just a bit less expensive.

Wonderful show. Above average food.

An OK Japanese Steakhouse. We recently moved to the Atascocita area from the Northwest part of Houston and recognized HB Steakhouse. We've enjoyed many meals at the NW location. At the time, I did not realize there were just 2 locations. What are the odds? So, we tried out this location and while the food was OK, the building and service was not as great as the 1960 location. My son always likes the show and the food was just what you expect at most hibachi places - good but not great. There are truly better ways to cook steak than cubing it and flash cooking it in oil. If you really want some red meat, go to a traditional steakhouse. If you enjoy the ginger dressing - which I do - and the fried rice, shrimp appetizers and sushi availability, then give it a try.
