Review Luby's - Houston

robert navarro
It's nice to find a luby's every once in a while because most of these are closed down or disappearing. They are more of a catering type of eating place. It used to be a buffet place but those days are gone. The food is still very very good I enjoyed all of it. So did my friends. That hankering went away really fast. The only thing that I didn't like was the root manager kept telling us to hurry up and eat and get out of his door so could have had a five-star review but one of them Stars is gone. You never know who's doing a review so you should always treat everyone equally happy fancy about it. I reckon!

They are still open! This makes me so happy!! Lunch was great yesterday. Love their fried fish! Oh, Luby’s. 😔 Maybe I should have written a review sooner. I grew up on Luby’s. Never disappointed. Today I turned 45 and I had my choice of any restaurant. Taste of Texas, State Fare, Liberty Kitchen, Steak 48 and Seasons 52 were all on my radar. I chose Luby’s because I knew this would be my last chance and I knew I would thoroughly enjoy my experience. I’m so sad this Texas tradition is ending. I purchase the HEB frozen meals to have at home, but nothing will compare to seeing the fresh food and steam on the glass as I chose my meal down that long buffet line. So long to a true love of mine. Update: my Luby’s is still open! The selections are plentiful, the flavor is great, and the service is terrific! Their fried fish is my favorite. I’m so happy I still have a Luby’s to go to near by. My personal experience today was wonderful! I wish I had the server’s name. She was fantastic. If you go to a Luby’s before they close, make sure you tip your server. They rely on those tips and my gal went above and beyond. Thank you, Luby’s. You will be greatly missed!

I have loved lubys since I was a kid and went there all the time with Grandma. Love the huge portion of liver and onions.

Great food, clean environment, and outstanding waiter service. The food is fresh and diverse. It wasn't overly crowded, and Matias, the young man who served my area, was very attentive to the tables and always kept my glass full. The only issue with this place is the indoor heat, and considering Houston's hot climate, it's something they need to address. I would recommend this place.

It's where I go when I want a simple homemade meal and they never disappoint. The prices have gone up, but it's reasonable compared the other restaurants in the area. They portion size is good and the food tastes great.

The food is usually pretty good, but it's hit or miss. On this occasion, I decided to surprise an elderly neighbor with a catfish meal. Never did I imagine it would be $18! It was only one piece of fish!!!!

This is the best Luby's I have ever been to! The staff is extremely customer service oriented, the food was absolutely delicious and varied, prices were not to steep for the portions. I have been to some other locations and the food was too salty(OST), horrible recipes etc..I prefer this Luby's to pappadeaux next door!😄💗👏👏👏👏👏

The Old Luby's is back, and I love it! Well prepared main dishes of comfort food, sides, salads, and deserts! What could be better!!! I can't forget, all this with fair prices. Oh yeah, and no porters wineing for tips. It is great!

This was really good! The chicken pot pie was freakin’ amazing!!! Sorry I ate it before I realized I should’ve taken a picture 😂

Serving line ladies tend to be a little rude but other than that this place is great for a warm homestyle meal. Nice quiet atmosphere.

I´ve been going to this particular Lubby´s for many years now. I love the decoration. The food is to die for... very good cooking for a cafeteria, with very accessible prices. The Chicken Fried Steak is always great, so is the pumpkin pie.

Always Good Food. I used to live in the area of this cafeteria and would eat there several times a month. Now I live in the Heights, but I still venture over to this Luby's every now and then. EVERYTHING they serve tastes good. I usually get the tilapia with sides of cabbage, mac n cheese or fried okra. I ate there today and tried the enchiladas, beans and dirty rice. I always top it off with a slice of lime pie or cheese cake. The prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere is pleasant.

Although we joke about the geriatric crowd there, I have to admit that my husband and I eat at Luby's about once a week, and we're still in our 20's. The prices are reasonable and it's the kind of good homey food we grew up on. They rarely have my favorite salmon croquettes anymore, so I generally stick with the baked almondine, while hubby prefers the fried fish or chicken fried chicken.
