Review 3 Salsas Mexican Restaurant - Houston

Greg Andrews
Really good enchiladas and tamales! 3 Salsas does not disappoint. Dropped by for a birthday dinner tonight and quickly got a table for 8.5 and were seated right away. Took a bit for the staff to get our drink orders and get going, but once the did, the service was great. Food was super hot when it came out, and without boiling unnecessarily under heat lamps. Tacos were tasty. Enchiladas and the sauce was on point. The salsas are all quite different and all really good. Looking forward to going back!!

We've visited this restaurant 5 times and today (Sunday) was no different...each time it has been a wonderful experience all around. The food was amazing, staff very friendly and atmosphere was great! Even when the restaurant was packed we were seated, waited on & served food quickly. If you are looking for authentic, homemade Mexican dishes, this is the best place in Houston or surrounding areas!

An excellent Mexican restaurant which satisfied the two metrics I look for: quantities and taste. I didn't realize the significance of the name until the person I was eating out with told me they literally serve three salsas with the chips they provide. Being not a expert in Mexican food, I can only say two are the cooked tomato based variety and the other is green sauce which consists of green jalapenos, garlic and vegetable oil. The latter which I drank bowls of. I had the 3 salsa beef fajita speciality for two (24.50). It had a actuall thick cut fajita steak about 1/2 in thick. It was well grilled and very flavorful, resting on a bed of grilled onions. Sides were served on a separate plate per person; they were enough. Also the tortillas were warmed as they should be. Service was excellent, they refilled my drink and checked up on us. While the area here may be kind of seedy, I have reservations on the restaurant itself and would eat here again if given the opportunity.

Great food for good prices. Drinkd are good too. I think it's a family owned restaurant so that's always a plus to spend your money local. Beef fajitas are awesome, I would recommend those because it's a lot of really good food for a good price. Been here twice with my wife and we will be back many more times.

I just left this place after stopping in for lunch...5 star all the way FANTASTIC FOOD, SERVICE AND PRICES. The waiter was hands down one of the best I've ever had... attentive but not overbearing. Such a great vibe and I'll definitely be back. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!!!!

Fantastic! This place was hoppin’ the Friday night we went. They have a small bar area with high top table seating along with the main dining area with lower tables and chairs. It’s a small restaurant, but they’re apparently doing something right! Groups of people gathered to dine and fun was had by all from my observation. I would classify this place as a “hole-in-the-wall” on the upside. The patrons were well dressed, the establishment was clean and the energy was high. They had a man playing the guitar and, what looked to be his son, playing the accordion. That piece of our experience gave it the old school Mexican mariachi restaurant feeling I haven’t had in a long time. That was a common find in the 80’s and early 90’s, but hard to find these days. It was pretty cool. We were greeted by our waitstaff within a couple minutes with chips and 3 salsas, hence the name of the restaurant. They give you 2 reds and 1 creamy green salsa. All were good, but the green one is the spicy jalapeño sauce that is hot, but so tasty you can’t stop eating it. The chips were warm and perfect weight for dipping. I ordered a frozen margarita with salt. It was good and complimented my chips perfectly. We ordered the trio fajitas for 2: chicken, beef and shrimp. Our meal arrived steaming, within 20 minutes (perfect time to enjoy the chips and the first margarita) and served with rice, beans, lettuce, guacamole. I figured the shrimp, being the priciest item on the platter would be skimpy, but I was wrong. There were 6 big shrimp along side of the good portions of chicken, beef and grilled onions. Everything was delicious! The meats were flavorful and tender. We were very impressed! Finally, the check… $54.00, including our tip (and 2 margaritas), for all of the above! Great prices!! We will return.

My family has been coming here for the past 20 years and we have never had a problem. The service is amazing as the owners know my family and we always get treated with respect. The food is very good and the drinks are on point. Overall the restaurant is a very good place and has amazing atmosphere. Would recommend!!!

My favorite spot for Tex Mex food. Never had a problem and I been there more than 20 times. The fajitas are delicious and the margaritas are the best!

Plenty of parking spaces. Also free parking. Service was fast and friendly. Drinks were good, not too strong but not too weak. Refreshing. Food was fresh and hot. Their mixed nachos are now my favorite nachos. They use the hood cheese not the string type cheese that gets cold too fast. The chips are not soggy neither. They have great Prices for everything on their menu. And of course all three of their salsa are amazing! My favorite one is the green salsa. If you are into drinking margaritas. I would recommend getting the top shelf corona rita. You can chose a different beer in it. I wish they had a closer location in the downtown area.

I was really impressed with this place. Prices are very reasonable and food tasted great. Love that the cook kin the back randomly starts singing. That tells me he likes what he's doing. I can't wait to go back and try something different.

Very very underrated place. The 3 salsas and freshly made thin crispy chips are wonderful. Lunch menu is cheap and cheerful too. My favorite is the chicken breast and quesadillas but there's much more. Great service too. The reason why it's not too popular is just the subpar location. But in a prime spot this place would be swamped.

Authentic food and people! Had a lunch meeting there and have been back several times over the last 3 weeks including takeout! You want value? 3 (tres) Salsas delivers! The complimentary chips and 3 Salsas are a fantastic start. Either of the three are great. I prefer the red salsa that has onions and cilantro. I've ordered crispy beef tacos, flautas de pollo, and beef enchiladas (carne molida). Last time, I could not decide and ordered one of each with arroz y frijoles. Highly recommend. Glad to see them up and running despite the ongoing issues. Gracias!!!

Wow, I can't believe I haven't told you about 3 Salsas before! It's one of those neighborhood restaurants that should go on your rotation. It's not fancy but the food is good, as are the portions. The jalapeno sauce - yes, it's one of the three fresh salsas you'll get - is sometimes mildly spicy and occasionally HOT. Trying it before your drink arrives is part of the fun. We order extra to take home to put on breakfast tacos. The carne guisada is my hubby's favorite, hands down. It's the one he judges all others against. I like to get the ridiculously generous 3 Salsas special: a juicy crispy beef taco, rice, beans (refried or charro), a scoop of guacamole, chile relleno, two cheese enchiladas and a tostada topped with queso. There is always plenty to take home. This is the kind of place you eat at regularly and take out-of-towners to when you want them to know how Houstonians really eat. I hope it becomes one of your favorites, too.
