The honey glazed wings, meatballs, and fried chicken are really delicious! The Mac and cheese was just okay, but the pink Kool-aid is bomb!!! Definitely skipping the deserts next time, the peach cobbler and pound cake was terrible. I would only order meat the next time I go.

Just started into these oxtails I picked at 1pm 26AUG18. They are tender yet weren’t braised. Opened my container & it looks like they just sprinkled some seasoning salt on top throughout. The gravy taste like packaged gravy and the meat was unseasoned this bland. Only gave it a two instead of a One because the Kool Aid was good.

Only recently moved to Houston and was missing a good old fashioned plate lunch. Thankfully Larry and Laney's is exactly that spot. Some of the nicest people who put alot of TLC into the food and service. Plan on trying to come back as often as is practical.

I don't know who the people are giving reviews but this food is terrible. It must be family members and friends leaving reviews.
Here is the truth: everything that we ordered was disgusting. We ordered pork chops with rice, mac and cheese with cabbage and a side order of peach cobbler. Everything tasted boxed and ill seasoned.... oh and please don't get me started on the peach cobbler..... who uses diced can peaches and store bought pie crust?! Mac and cheese only had cheese on top and wet noodles on the inside. Pork chops were tough. Either these people have never had soul food or they think all of their customers have never tasted REAL soul food.
The only good thing we can say was their customer service was great but I feel that was a trick.
Don't believe the previous reviews. They are friends and family to these people. That's the only way I can explain why they have positive reviews.
I'm trying to figure out how to attach the recipes for how to prepare REAL soul food mac and cheese (oven baked), cabbage, smothered pork chops, rice (can't mess up 10 min rice) and how to make peach cobbler using real crust and the right kind of peaches.
Back to grandma's kitchen is where they need to go to figure out how to fix this.

Went there today. The food was not what I would call soul food. Mac n Cheese if you don't get cheese from the top you just missed the cheese. Pork chop was tuff but the gravy was good. Corn was not any good. All the sides were questionable
The best thing we got was the free soda. They may need time to put perfection on the menu. Sorry I Was very disappointed.

Let me start with "WOW!!!!" My wife and I were at an event near Larry and Laney's, and I knew I had to try their food. I'm sooooooo glad we did. First of all, I actually got to meet Larry and Laney both. As a business owner, that shows me that they care so much about their business that they are the ones still doing all the cooking. That's a huge plus to me!
Now to the good stuff, the food. Talk about Yum's to the max!! I had their meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and cabbage. Can I just say that I don't think that I have inhaled food the way I did there, since I left the Army. Except in the Army it wasn't because of the flavor. I didn't get to try their wings because the sample they gave me, my wife ate. So obviously, they were phenomenal.
At any rate, I'm giving 5 stars because of the people, food, and the customer service. I will definitely be back, and I'll make sure I let everyone I know!!

Love their food. It's carry-out only but that is not a big deal, My only mission is to always get there before they sell out! I have tried everything and have not been disappointed. Wings, catfish, mac and cheese, ribs, their chicken and special sauce is so good! The restaurant is definitely a must try <3. The owners are awesome and I am happy to support their business.

Best fried catfish I've had in a long long time- crunchy, finely-coated breading, juicy moist fillets & plenty of it. But the true winner today was the braised oxtail dish that the owner gave us on the house. I don't know what magic he brewed in there but I was drinking the gravy from the Styrofoam box at the end.

I've been driving by Larry and Laney's place almost daily for over a year, promising myself every time I saw their sign to give it a try. Today, finally, I fulfilled that promise.
It was great!
I had the salisbury steak on a bed of rice with gravy, collard greens, and mac-n-cheese. And the owner threw in a free honey-glazed chicken wing just to hook me, which it did. I know I'll be getting them by the dozen soon.

Larry and Laney's is unbelievably delicious. The selection is always quite varied. Some of our favorites are the chicken wings, greens, meatloaf, Mac and cheese, and don't forget the cobbler. Larry and Laney always greet us with a smile. Love this place, the food, and the kind owners!
