Good ol local dive bar. Cheap beer and drinks!
Stephen Jurgella
Beer is super cold and Alice is the bomb.
No liquor but who cares, it’s the Tall Texan.

So my friend and I somewhat accidentally stumbled upon this fine establishment after a nice dinner at a restaurant in the Heights. Now I have been to another Drive Inn before so I know how it goes but we did not expect to be packed wall to wall for a birthday party.
We made our ways to the bar and it was very crowded that night. I told the owner this is our first time and the first thing she said that it is cash only and they are known for the goblet of beer that everyone has in their hand. It also turns out each one is only $2.50 and the choices are Lone Star and Shiner. We got our goblet and we went around the room to find a spot for us to stand without bumping to people.
One of the good thing about places like this is that people are friendly here. Even though most of the people there that night was celebrating Tony's birthday (whom I met and learnt his name later on the night), but my friend and I had a good conversation and even got the approval from the birthday man himself to help ourselves to the food, the cake, and the liquor they brought. Yes, you can bring your own liquor and food here.
People keep going to the Internet jukebox and playing all sorts of funky dance music from the 70s as that's the era most of the patrons grew up in. But never less we had our fair share of beer and liquor before we move on to the next place for the night. Over all I did enjoy the time I was there. If I want to show friends to have a good time with cheap beer, I will tell them to go here.

Been there twice, very chilled neighborhood bar to have a few beers. The frozen goblets are a plus. The waitress is very nice. I listened to some nice old school Tejano and Mexican music. I will definitely be back when I on that side of town.

Thanks Alice for being you! And for being the perfect Neighborhood Bar! Ice Cold Lonestar in a frosty glass was never better! Bless you!!
Nick Carson
Nothing fancy. But it shouldn't be anything fancy. Shiner and Lone Star on tap, some basic domestics in bottles.
Cash only. Alice is still bartending.
It was pretty bright inside for a dive bar, but it was a welcome change.
Zach Armitstead
Best dive bar in Houston. Cash only with 2 beers on tap: Lone Star and Shiner in 18 oz goblets. The bartender has been serving at this establishment on and off for the past 25 years. A unique experience that anyone living in the heights should try!

Last week was my first time going to this place! I was in shock when we ordered a large beer and it was a dollar!! Alice keeps this place clean, and it smells good. Very small and well kept!

Why is it so great? Because it is what it is.
So, what is it?
No-frills, as local as it gets, as cheap as it gets, honkey-tonk texas dive.
What you should know:
- Shiner and lone star on tap for $2.50 and you get it in a large, frozen, chalet/goblet thing. These are the only beers on tap.
- ***CASH ONLY***
- This is a LOCAL bar, and Alice still runs the place so don't go in there with your yuppie grouper-date buds expecting to walk into a craft beer garden that has kale salad and sweet potato fries. The food selection is a bag of funyuns sitting in a basket at the bar.
Vibe of the place:
- Laid back, unassuming, old home with stained corkboard ceiling tiles and a classic country jukebox
Patrons:
- You never know, but they've always been chill

Great dive bar of legend. The bartender is exactly what you want for a great night out. Make sure to bring cash, and enjoy yourself.

My home away from home. I been going for almost 20 years and I keep coming back. The beer is cheap and cold. Best regulars of any bar. Don Jesse, Juanito, & Tachito to name a few. Nevermind the new hipster pinche crowd. Orale Saluuuud!!
Ann Marie Castorina
Very cold beer and a classic place to take friends!
Mike Collins
Just go and take it all in. It's a glorious country dive bar!

A locals bar. A neighborhood bar. Always happy to see you and one of the best places to stop by after Critical Mass.

This will always be one of my favorite things about Houston. I lived there in the late 90s and loved to play pool and listen to the juke box. Glad to see its still alive and well.
