What's located in the Heights, is delicious, and super cozy? Well, that probably describes plenty of places, but I'm talking about the restaurant, Mastrantos!
We arrived pretty late, and although they looked quite busy, we were seated right away. The service was wonderful, the food was fantastic. The serving sizes looked a bit small, but I'm guessing that's because here in America we are used to eating double the size of a normal portion. It actually ended up being the perfect size. We both felt full, but without feeling like we had eaten too much, which, of course, meant there was room for dessert! It was a tough choice between chocolate ravioli and carrot cake, which sounded amazing. We ordered the chocolate ravioli, and again, the portion size looked small. However, we shared one dessert and it was plenty big enough for both of us.
This was a nice dining experience. I enjoyed the food, which was expertly prepared. The atmosphere was nice, it seemed to me like a "special occasion" restaurant, but would also be nice to visit every now and then "just because."
Everyone was happy!! This Italian based food incorporates flavors from other places. It was family friendly.

A small warm restaurant in the heights. Which, if it's in the heights, it has to be good there are so many great spots to eat in this area....and it is good, very, very good. They have a short menu of different entrees, wines, and sharables. The service is top tier. I would absolutely recommend Mastrantos for an outing with friends or family.
I am in town visiting family and we went to this place for dinner. It's not too big so has a nice intimate feel to it. The food was amazing. At least what I had was. I ordered a shared brussels sprouts dish, which had a mix of raw, fried, and grilled spouts and this amazing aioli. I ordered a side of salmon which was cooked perfectly. I wish I had taken pictures of it but forgot. lol. Such a great place. I'll definitely be back.
I did the dining in the dark experience and it was fabulous! I had the seafood meal and everything was delicious. The bar tenders Emily and Pablo were very friendly and helpful. All of the staff members were professional and courteous. The atmosphere of Mastrantos is quite pleasant, with Latin music playing and warm lighting throughout. The design and decor was modern with a calming ambiance. I'd love to go back for a regular dinner service!
Mastrantos is a must! We have become regulars because we love this place so much. The food is absolutely delicious with fresh and high quality ingredients, the menu is eclectic and international, the atmosphere is vibrant and trendy and the staff could not be nicer! Our server Jamila is the sweetest, she always remembers us and what we like and makes great recommendations!
From their new menu, we highly recommend the salt-roasted beet salad and the brussel sprouts!
Great ambiance, energetic. The menu is short however contains a bit of everything. Also very creative cocktails options made with wine and/or sake. the baked burrata was great with lots of greens. parking was really difficult.
Atmosphere was nice, drinks were excellent, and food was good but imo very overpriced for what I got. I tried the salmon and tequeño.
A delightful dinner! The food was incredibly delicious. While the restaurant does offer meat dishes, we opted for all vegetarian items and we were beyond impressed. Everything was full of flavor, perfect textures and scrumptious. Our waitress explained different nuances about our dishes, how the pickled onions would combine with curry spice and unique deviations from typical ways the dishes are made. We loved her! We arrived early without a reservation but if you're going to go during peak hours, you might have a wait. If so, it's worth the wait! I'll definitely be recommending this place and can't wait to go baaaaaaack!
If this was based exclusively or mostly on ambiance or service, it would easily be a 5/5. The look and vibe of the restaurant was great, having a nice level of energy, dim lighting, and general decor. One of the most friendly and helpful staffs I’ve ever encountered at a restaurant.
The food, however, was definitely hit or miss. For starters, the Texqueno was great, especially the cilantro lime sauce that came with it. The cacio e pepe risotto was just eh, as it was far too fishy and a little salty as well. For the main courses, the beef ragu bolognese and vacio steak were both delicious and with hearty portions at that. The pesto gnocchi was disappointing though, as we barely had any actual gnocchi in the dish (the plate was basically filled with veggies).
Even with the mixed bag of results with food, this was still a place I’d recommend checking out (while saying results might be a bit of a toss up).
