First time here and will definitely be back. The salsa is great. Got Tommy’s tacos & they were delicious & a really good portion size! Jackie was our server and was incredible. 10/10 recommend Mi Sombrero!
Stopped in for lunch Saturday I've been on a menudo craze, trying to find the best bowl of menudo in Houston. When you walk in you find a place to sit and the waiter will come to you with menus and chips. I knew what I wanted so just asked for a large bowl of menudo and some breakfasts tacos. She informed me that the tacos come in order of two. The menudo came out promptly and it was piping hot. It has hominy and that's a plus, however the tripe was large and cut uneven. It was all yellow tripe, the taste was a little gamey. The chorizo tacos were bland and they didn't bring me any salsa. One big plus was that their corn tortillas were home made. I will come back and try other items.
Been going here for many years and I always go with Tommy’s Taco Dinner! Never fails to satisfy. 3 tacos with fajita, cheese, and jalapeños. Rice and Beans. If you ever come here you gotta try it.
First time here, located inside a small shopping center, but super busy. Restaurant overall looks a little run down but dont get fool by it. Food. was great, tasty and service spot on. Salsa might be great if they serve it cold, not temperature hot I'm not a fan !.but that is just my taste. Anyways flavor was excellent . I ordered the hamburger which cm with thick slices if avocados, tomato and lettuce. Patty eas tasty and juicy. French fries on the thick cut. Freshly made . The second dish was enchilada special, chicken wirh cheese and gravy. Not my favorite mex dish but to my surprise eas Gooood. Definitely will be back for more.
I have been coming here for a couple years yet never shared my review. I love this place. It’s very delicious and no frills just good food. I usually get the Tommy Taco dinner with chicken instead of beef. Soooo good and usually eat off the plate twice. I also get the breakfast tacos and they are pretty good. Overall service is good. Would highly recommend this place
This place is great if you have plenty of time, whether it's a weekday or the weekend. Food is amazing, but availability is not so great, May have to wait outside, which isn't so nice with the hot weather we have had. They are very busy inside, so getting a waitresses attention is a bit difficult at times. Overall, it is a good place for authentic Mexican food.

Somehow, Mi Sombrero had missed my TexMex radar for a long time! So I decided to head over and check it out. I was not disappointed!
First off, the chips and salsa. Fresh and warm chips if just the right thickness served with an amazing warm salsa which was a red brick color. Honestly, one of the better salsas I’ve had served with chips.
Of course I had to get a combination plate. I got their number one, which offered two enchiladas, a queso doused tostado, crispy beef taco, rice and beans, and an avocado/guac salad. The guac was fresh and bright, simple recipe without a lot of extra stuff thrown in. You can definitely tell the beans are homemade and oh, so creamy! Excellent rice, cooked just right. The beef taco was seasoned well. The enchiladas were also good, but perhaps the least favorite of mine on the plate. Maybe just my palate, but the cheese made them a little rubbery. But excellent gravy on top and they offer them with fresh onion on top if you want.
All this with endless, fresh tea!
Service was prompt, friendly, and attentive. Automatically offered a “to go” tea with my leftovers box!
Will be back to explore the menu further!
This place is a local landmark. Get the Tommy tacos dinner, or go custom and ask for the Tommy Enchalada dinner! Rita's are awesome too. Kid friendly and the ladies all love kids.
No frills tex-mex when you want really great tasting and inexpensive options. Can't say enough of the enchiladas and their fresh handmade guacamole. The food was prepared quickly, and the service was extremely friendly. Try the combination plates to get a taste of everything and go hungry. Portions are huge.
Good was very good and authentic. Service was fantastic. The waitress was very friendly n keep up with us, there were 10 of us, with anything that we needed n out drinks were always full. Will be going back
I came back again and my experience was exceptional, I highly recommend this place either with family or just yourself, good environment, great taste, temperature, presentation and ingredients, place is super clean, today I had a chance to talk to Jackie and she made me feel welcomed again

The food is amazing and tacos and the enchiladas are good. I will say after eating here every time I do need to take a nap. Lol but really great service great food great prices.
Food is delicious with hand made corn and flour tortillas. Server was friendly. Restaurant could definitely use an update. Looks very outdated but overall we are there to eat right? Food is great. 👍
What can I say. This is a hidden gem. The food is a mix between Tex Mex and traditional Mexican cuisine. Their Caldo de Res is out of this world. Their friendly service and smiles makes it a very welcoming environment.
