I am so happy I stumbled upon this place! The flour tortillas are fresh and thick. My favorite was the chorizo and papa taco, which is very filling and for $2.99 it was completely worth it! The masa for the tamales was very flavorful as well. They have a huge selection, cheap prices, and everything we ordered was delicious 😋, not to mention that they prepare the food very quickly. We will definitely return next time we are in town.
I recently had the pleasure of trying the breakfast tacos at Luchi & Joey's, located in the tunnels beneath the commerce building. I must say that the experience was delightful, with one particular taco standing out among the rest.
The 1910 breakfast taco, a true masterpiece, deserves a resounding 10 out of 10. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and each bite was a harmonious blend of ingredients. The quality of the ingredients was evident, and the taco was cooked to perfection. It truly surpassed my expectations and ranks among the best breakfast tacos I have ever had.
While the breakfast taco was exceptional, I must admit that the Machaca taco and the El Popular taco fell a bit short. They were decent, but they lacked the same level of excellence that the standout taco offered. I would rate them a 6 out of 10. The flavors didn't quite come together as cohesively, and there was room for improvement in terms of seasoning and overall execution.
The location of Luchi & Joey's adds to its allure. Nestled in the underground tunnels beneath the commerce building, it provides a unique and cozy setting. It's a charming experience to dine in such an unconventional space, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the visit.
Overall, my experience at Luchi & Joey's was great. The remarkable breakfast taco was a highlight that earned it a perfect score. Although the other tacos didn't quite reach the same level, they were still enjoyable. The hidden underground location added a touch of novelty to the experience. If you're a breakfast taco enthusiast looking for something out of the ordinary, this place is worth a visit.
Tried for the first time today! So good! I tried 3 tacos...classic beef, pulled pork and Baja San (grilled shrimp). All 3 were great the pork and shrimp were on another level. So fresh and hot (temp hot). The salsas have a lot of flavor. I went towards the end of lunch rush and no wait. I will be a regular customer. And they have so many breakfast options!
I wanted to get some local tacos on Taco Tuesday. I tried Luchi & Joey’s. The team was fast and friendly. The tacos tasted great and were big. The hit salsa is great with heat and a bite. I tried the Gringa, 1810 & Pulled Pork tacos.
I’m not usually the type of person to leave reviews, but this place is such a hidden gem I had no choice. Stumbled in early this morning for some breakfast tacos, which were delicious; nothing gourmet or fancy, just really good homemade tacos. The service was quick and friendly, and the prices very reasonable. I’ll be back!
I really love tacos. Authentic mexican food. My favorites are Gringa and Pirata’s tacos.
Plus, the staff is very friendly.
This is a cafeteria style Mexican food place in the downtown tunnels. The breakfast tacos are delicious! I’ve also had the veggie tamales and they are the best tamales I’ve ever had. They have a machine that makes fresh squeezed orange juice upon order. Don’t miss out on this place.
Breakfast tacos are great 👍 best potato and egg taco I've found. Salsa verde is solid too.
One of the best food spots in the tunnels. Fast and fresh food. Handmade tortillas.
Delicious food and super friendly staff. There are a lot of places to get breakfast tacos in the downtown tunnels, and I used to rotate between them. Once I added Luchi and Joey's to the rotation I stopped rotating, they're the only place I go now.
