Review East Wall Chinese Restaurant - Houston

So I've almost come to the standard that some Chinese restaurants just don't care about customer service, but this place was fantastic. Waitress explained the menu, didn't give my check randomly middle of meal, asked how food was. We just went with some basics: Wonton Soup, Mongolian Beef, and Chicken Dumplings. Food was great. Nothing insane to call mom about but flavorful! Will definitely return. P.s. Inside was quiet and had a great decor. Decor was almost like walking into East Asia as the name suggests. 😳

Parking was a bit of a nightmare but the establishment itself was solid. Staff was extremely pleasant and accommodating. Food was better than average. They are very family friendly, especially with young kids. Would definitely recommend.

Five stars for food, service, and atmosphere! We ordered the Peking duck (sliced so thin and served in a beautiful round pattern WITH BOTH cucumbers and scallions!) $46.99, the $5 bean sprout add on, eggplant (special requested plain to share with baby) $11.99, flat rice noodle with beef $11.99, and the green delicious water spinach $14.99. Literally every dish was SO GOOD. And our toddler agrees. He eats best when the food is good and he ate so well. Nothing was too salty. The eggplant and water spinach were so perfect. I ate so much of both despite usually only eating Peking duck at PD restaurants. The duck was soft and juicy, the skin stayed crispy to the end of the meal. I didn’t eat the noodles and the add on to be strategic and save for leftovers. My only minus is I prefer pancakes over buns, but I think buns are Cantonese style and that is the style this restaurant chose. I also found the duck sauce to be a little citrusy. I find that at Peking duck restaurants sometimes. It’s an acquired taste I think. Lastly but not least, the service was great. 🤩 Thank you for an amazing meal!

Not sure if they have a new chef but the dishes are different from before :/ It all tastes fine but I really liked how it used to be. I don’t recall duck being in any of the dishes I ordered but I guess they just used the scraps from the Peking duck. And they’re thickening their sauces more, it’s like all goopy. The Peking duck still tastes great but the portion seems smaller now. Makes me sad, my family loved this place.

We ordered the Mango Slushee. Iced Thai Tea. Beef Lo Mein, and Chicken Pineapple Fried Rice. It was so so good! I will definitely come back here and recommend it to my friends. I didn’t have the chance to take better pictures because we ate our food right away. Nice ambiance and good service. 10/10 :)

The food is good. Service is nomal. The price is on the top end of expensive. My kid wanted some crabs and so ordered. When the bill came, it showed $65 for a crab (about the small fist size). Little smaller than the ones I caught at the Houston Pier. LOL.

Update… I liked the food this time around, just not as much! When I asked about the difference, maybe because of the language barrier, but I was dismissed and was charged more to have my dish cooked the way it had been served initially the first time. Not a good fit this time. Maybe there’s been a change in service, cool or management, but tisk tisk. Previously (One of the very best tasting Chinese foods I’ve had in a while!)

Great food and overall good. However, portions of this duck was lacking. Definitely a bit overpriced for the amount of food you get. Mafutofu was lacking in flavor as well and I do not recommend. Lobster dish was great.

Beautiful restaurant with excellent service and great food. Big portions and good prices. Huge menu with many options. Vibe: Very cozy and clean interior, and they have fresh fish on display too but there isn't the typical fishy smell you often get in those kinds of restaurants. Lots of cool decor and plants adorn every corner, and they had nice holiday theming when we went. Food: we ordered the sweet and sour pork, black bean rice noodles, and beef & broccoli. All dishes had great flavor! Sweet and sour pork was very crunchy even though it was covered in sauce. Rice noodles had a nice texture too, and the broccoli was perfectly cooked - firm but tender enough to pierce easily with a fork. The texture of the sauces here are a lot gloopier than we have typically had when we order these dishes in other places - be aware if you have picky eaters that aren't used to that kind of texture.

First time trying this place and it will not be my last. From the moment we came in someone was quick to sit us down at our table, then they came for our drinks and appetizers. The menu is extensive with plenty to choose from. The prices are very reasonable they have family meals as well for a get together or dinner party. Our appetizers came out quickly and they were super delicious, then our main course came and we were hooked!!! The food had so much flavor and everything taste so fresh, I can keep going about the food, it's so good. The place is beautifuly decorated with plenty of seating. The waitresses are very nice and attentive. I definitely recommend everyone trying this place!

The best dim sum in Houston so far! This is a worthy successor to the Legendary Dim Sum King. From the decor, to the music, to the variety of authentic dim sum dishes, and finally, the amazing service. What a great discovery!

I came to this restaurant due to my craving for Peking duck. The duck skin was very crispy and the duck meat was prepared well. The Peking duck was fairly priced when I compared to other places in the area and if you paid $3 more you can have a duck stir fry or duck soup with your meal. The salted fish, chicken, and eggplant hot pot was not what I expected but it was still good. I was hoping for more salted fish in the dish. Customer service was great and the food came out pretty fast.

I went here for dinner on Christmas day and it was absolutely delicious. The service is top notch and a very beautiful ambience. We ordered peking duck, custard buns (not shown), walnut shrimp, and stirfried flat noodles. Peking duck 5/5. This is some of the best Peking Duk I’ve had in my life very tender, flavorful, and Skin was crispy I prefer the pancakes, but they serve with buns that were very good. Stirfry noodles 3.5/5 these were pretty good I’ve definitely had better but the flavor was good just that wish there was a little bit more sauce. I may have ranked higher if I didn’t just try the Peking duck. Walnut shrimp. 5/5. This was so good, I would come back just for the shrimp. Perfectly fried, great sauce, and the Frosted Flakes on top were a fun touch that added extra sweetness Custard buns 5/5 these were so good, could be a perfect dessert or appetizer

Every year at this time my husband and I take a day away and go get massages and dine at The East Wall!! We love their Peking Duck… it’s one of the best in Houston. Today we changed it up with the Steamed dumplings, Beef Sate hot pot and general tso chicken!! The duck wings as well!! They were amazing. The service is always great! It is a true gem in such a busy area! Hope we continue our tradition for many years!!

Visited this resturaunt on a Tuesday night. The service was fast friendly and the ambiance over all of this place was peaceful and relaxing. Now to the food! Peking Duck anyone.....you won't find it better ANYWHERE else (stateside at least). Perfectly moist meat and the crispiest of skin. Their traditional Hong Kong hot and sour wonton soup....I don't think you can get it anywhere else so definitely don't pass it up. You Will Regret it if you do. We also order a shrimp dumpling appetizer again fantastic delicate yet super rich in flavor. And last but not least we tried the Beef pan fried noodles with vegetables. Trust me this is not worth passing up either if you are looking for something filling and full of flavor. The food was plentiful for each dish that we ordered each had enough to share with someone else. And the price point was very reasonable. We visit Houston often and we will be back for sure.

If you're in Chinatown and want some really good Chinese food you need to visit this place you won't be disappointed. It was my first time here my wife, my son,and I tried the lobster, beef and broccoli, orange chicken, and spare ribs Japanese style. We will definitely be back.

I was with my boyfriend. Being an interracial couple , I felt as if our waitress forgot about us after taking our order . she disappeared and never checked up on us. We had to waive another waitress down to get our check after never even asked if we were okay from any employee. I felt slightly discriminated as if our needs didn't matter. The food was not great but decent. I liked the quiet atmosphere and that's what my boyfriend and I were looking for. But the service was just off. I was disappointed and do not plan on going back.

I. Love. This. Place. Friendly staff, delicious food (get the pork belly, because it's perfect), good clean atmosphere, and the chrysanthemum tea is to die for.
