The food was very good and our server was friendly. There clearly is a big following based on how many people filed in while we were there. There are definitely good price values to be found, with a tremendous amount of food for the chicken fried steak omelette for only $12.95.

Had SUCH a great brunch here! Our waitress was the sweetest thing!!! I had the mushroom burger with fried pickles and my boyfriend got the pancakes and sausage and they were so delicious ☺️

When you walk in, you know at once you stepped back in time. The people greet you with love and care, almost like walking into Mamma's kitchen without the hand slap when u reach for something, lol. The food is fast, and the only thing missing for me was seasoning. I will go back, and you will as well once you try it.

Oh my gosh...this was our first trip to Avalon Diner. It did not disappoint at all. This diner had that homey feel to it just as soon as we walked in the door. Our waitress, Misty, was awesome. She answered all of our questions and checked on us periodically throughout our meal and even stopped and chatted with us for a couple of minutes. The food was hands down the best breakfast we've ever had. It definitely puts Dennys, IHOP and Waffle House to shame. My boyfriend ordered the breakfast quesadilla and he said that was one of the best quesadillas he's ever eaten. I ordered the big breakfast and I couldn't finish it because it was that big. You definitely need to come with a big appetite. They serve breakfast and lunch all day. We can't wait to go back and try other items on the menu.

This place is so cute, you wouldn't think it looks like a diner from the inside since the outside looks so modern but it has that classic diner feeling. The waitresses are on too of all the tables and the food comes out quick. The food is delicious and full of flavor, portions are huge as well. Definitely recommend coming here!

Today I saw the “Did Someone Say Cake Promo”. Purchase an entrée and get a piece of cake for $1. What a deal!
I also noticed their ‘Running Side Work Sheet’, no wonder they stay so clean and organized. Wish I’d thought of a chore list like this when my kids were little.

We went to Avalon Diner on 11/02/2017 . Address is 8800 Katy freeway, Houston, Tx. Avalon Diner has been open since 1938. The Decor is to give the feeling in the atmosphere of 30's/40's . Photos are on the wall of the original Avalon Diner. The diner serves breakfast and lunch and is open from 7 am -4 pm. Blue plane special are served daily ranging from $6.75-$8.45. The consist of entree sides and desert . Avalon is famous for Soda Fountain Drinks as follows: fresh squeezed lemonade, ice cream soda such as cola float and root beer floats. A Houston tradition for over 75 years They have the best milk shakes and malts that I have ever tasted ranging from $4.00 to $5.00 . I had a creamy , thick , delicious chocolate malt served along with a ice cold mixing cup. Flavors are as follows: chocolate,vanilla, banana, pineapple, Oreo cookie,butterscotch and peppermint patty. My cousin had indulged on pancakes . She wanted me to mention the great way the syrup comes in a hot bottle and lots of it. I had the french toast with banana and powder sugar and pecans. A little bit dry but nothing warm syrup can't fix . Staff very friendly, Carrie was our waitress , very knowledgeable on the menu. Carrie is a yankee fan and even wore a Houston Astro shirt to show Houston Strong Spirt.😇

Definitely stop by early to avoid a wait. We had breakfast Sunday morning. It was good! The best is probably the French Toast as it is made with Challah bread. The Chilaquiles were also really good. Wish I had taken pictures, but we were hungry.☺️

A good option if you want diner food that is steps above Denny’s or IHOP. I had the breakfast sandwich with ham. Service was attentive and the sandwich was tasty. It’s hard to mess up breakfast.

My wife ordered Eggs Binidict. The Ham was soured so bad you could smell it. I ordered a Hamburger and the meat was full of filler, grissel and way over cooked and hard. Needless to say we won't go back. We told the waitress and she brought my wife some bacon for her eggs. I ask to speak to the manager, but he or she never came to our table.

Awesome diner with your classic breakfast standards. I personally love their Grill Cook's Medley, it's pretty much everything on the plate but the kitchen sink with eggs over-easy on top. The service is great and I look forward to coming back.

Avalon Diner. This restaurant was great. I have been here before and I still love it. The hamburger and oreo milkshake was amazing. The atmosphere was cute and really a good diner. The service was good and food presentation was good as well. Overall, I would definitely go back here again!

Delicious. My experience at Avalon Diner was definitely good. The Diner has a very home feel. The facilities were clean. The service was very helpful and I enjoyed the fish on a bun. The crunchiness (from the fillet) in the middle made it all the more delicious. (sort of like eating chips with a sandwich but even better!!!) They even had a healthy menu. I was so impressed with the diner. Will be going back there again.

The presentation was nice. I got the Hawaiian salad. It was okay Also, I got the Oreo cookie milkshake. It was fantastic. Overall, the restaurant was pretty good. Next time, I will try the burger and fries. It was a great experience and comforting place.

I love Avalon Diner!! It is personally one of my favorite restaurants. I love the environment and the staff is beyond friendly. I had a cheeseburger that was perfectly seasoned. I really enjoyed everything about it.

Avalon Diner is the typical 1900 diner with milkshakes, hamburgers, and fries! I loved how the waitress came out right away and took our drink and the food orders. I love these kind of places!! Although the First Lady who came to is with our menus was a bit rude, I was still pleased with the cute restaurant. The place is a bit crowded with the tables, but I get that they want as many tables as they can for the customers. I ordered the strawberry milkshake and the typical American hamburger. They were both really good, and I devoured my milkshake is a couple of minutes!! I am very pleased with this place, and look forward to coming again!

The milkshakes are AMAZING! The burgers are also very good and i remeber the breakfeast being good to.. Its in a cute location and the waiter are kinda nice. The facilties were pretty good also but i was a bit cold.

Great Place. Attitude from the servers is what makes this place special. Theres a wonderful older spunky Black Lady with attitude galore that is fantastic! Food is good, great variety and prices are very reasonable. Get there early because the place is small and busy at normal eating times. I love it!

We're Done with Avalon for Good. Today was the last time my husband will step foot in this place-ever. He order "over easy" and get "hard" plus attitude from the servers. There are too many good breakfast places within a 5 mile radius to tolerate this crap. Unacceptable service and unacceptable quality. Done. Too bad-it was so convenient.
