Couldn't dance at the 80s place down a few blocks, so my husband and I wanted to just get drinks and head back to the hotel. Passed some clubs, but decided to come back here to the Irish Pub we passed. So glad we did! Music rockin, great bartender, chill old school masculine leather and dark wood vibe. On my second round right now, and I'm so glad we came in!
I visited this place before rush hour, so it was very quiet and relaxing. More like a booze place
A true Irish pub in the middle of downtown Houston. I was introduced to Jameson Irish whiskey here 14 years ago! When I asked why everyone was drinking Jameson, the bartender responded; “Ai, you’ve never had a Jameson, lad? The first one is on me, the rest will be on you.” Thus began my love affair with Irish whiskey.

We came into to have a drink. The place is amazing. Music is not over loud. Nice and clean. Staff are professional and friendly! We might of found a new place to come have a night out. The food is amazing!!! The lighting is perfect for a date night.

Great place, knowledgeable bartenders. Locals were very friendly. Prices were very reasonable. Had a nice seating area outside, enclosed by a gate to separate it from people walking down the street.

Great Establishment! I have read some strange reviews about this place saying things like “no Irish people working there” or “complaining that “How come an Irish Pub doesn’t serve food till the wee hours of the morning?”.
Strange reviews and I’m betting probably from some competition bars in the area or a drunk customer who didn’t get their way.
I have always had a great time here. Staff is awesome, it gets lively but not obnoxiously packed, the jukebox has a wide variety of tunes, they have to at least 20 taps and a ton of bottle and canned beer and their broad whiskey selection gives me plenty of options. All around good, fun place.
A couple of my friends and I made a trip to Houston to watch a Texas Rangers game. We stayed the weekend to experience the atmosphere and see how the Houston experience differed from the Dallas experience. Which is where we are from. We decided to do a pub crawl and we started off here at Shay. It was a pleasant experience and the bar tender Tiffany was amazing. We wound up leaving to go experience the nightlife. We came back to this place because this was the best experience, and Tiffany took such good care of us. I highly recommend this bar for your Houston experience.

This is one of the longest running bars in the downtown area. A standard Irish pub with an awesome staff and management team. This is certainly an amazing place to share drinks with friends and perhaps make new ones. The bartenders are great! Gotta check out the ongoing specials they have...and Karaoke on Tuesdays!
Shay's is always certainly a stop over for any big weekend downtown plans that include a great time.

It's a very chill and relaxing environment to go with friends and hang out. They have quite a bit of beer selections and liquor selections. I love the cozy environment and the interior decorations they have inside. I love looking at the different art work and the maps of Ireland in the bar! It's got various seating options (bar, tables, sofa, etc) and it is not too loud.
