Review Massa's Restaurant - Houston

This is by far my favorite restaurant downtown. It has a very elegant yet hip atmosphere. I come here often before the theater with my friends but have also felt comfortable bringing my 2 toddler children. I haven't had anything on the menu I didn't love, but I tend to get whatever is the off-menu special of the night. I always get great service, I love the food and atmosphere, and it is a big plus they validate parking in the connected parking garage. I can't say enough positive about this place!

I wondered in here while staying at the Hyatt across the street. I had the lobster bisque soup (highly recommended), seated ahi tuna (very good), cheesecake (not recommended), and a cafe latte (very good). the ambiance was upscale, but casual. the hostess was fairly cold but overall nice. the waiter was nice, but didn't seem that knowledgeable. if I could find 3.5 stars, if give it that.

The ambiance of the restaurant was magical. I wanna say #DaveTheBartender was awesome to say the least. He anticipated our needs and knew the menu like the back of his hand. The food was a pleasure to my pallet, but that bisque oh my gosh the lobster bisque was as tasty as that I have had on the east coast. Dinner was an awesome attribute to our evening!!!! THANKS DAVE

This restaurant is one of the best I have ever been to and I dine out at a lot of fine restaurants. The food was expectional and the service was the absolute best. My birthday dinner was in the best hands in the last 53 years. Can't wait to visit Houston again and I highly recommend it.

Absolutely delicious with great service at a reasonable price. I had one of the most delicious fillets I've ever had in my life. The food is just as good, if not better, than steakhouses that cost twice as much.

I have never had anything but an outstanding meal and a great time at Massa's Blue. Gumbo is extraordinary, the spinach salad with berries is great, and I am particularly fond of the red snapper, however they make it that day. Scallops too. Im not a dessert guy but hey, the key-lime is killer too. Good wine list and their wine suggestions are on the money. The atmosphere is relaxed...why bother coming here if you're in a hurry? They want you to enjoy. And I have never had any service problems! Heck, feels like home to me.

Good seafood place in downtown Houston. Nothing spectacular per se, but if you want to have a good business lunch this is a solid place. I had the red snapper, which came with mashed potatoes and broccolini - all of which was cooked perfectly. The portion size of fish was good for lunch and it wasn't drowned in a sauce. The food will be solid and the ambiance is such that you don't have to shout for the person across from you to hear to.

Tasty food and friendly staff. The bread pudding is to die for! If you're heading to the Toyota Center or Discovery Green for an event park in the deck, stop in for dinner or at least a drink and dessert, and get your parking validated. Win, win!

Great place! I always go here for special occasions and the serves never disappoint me. They are so prompt and organized. I wish every restaurant can be this efficient.

Good restaurant and separate bar, both of which are good. Restaurant is certainly up market in price and quality, but still good value, the bar, run by Dave has a really nice atmosphere and also serves great bar food

My first visit and had a lunch special: plan seared scallops. They were excellent, done to perfection. I'll definitely go back.

Very classic

Very classic restaurant. Fresh flowers on every table adds attention to details and enhance their service experience. Entrees from appetizer to dessert all came well presented and on a timely manner. Staff is very friendly and educated. Will definitely recommend this place to anyone who appreciates classic restaurant dinning

My first visit here was perfect. My Old Fashion was strong and not sweet. My Red Fish was absolutely perfect, and my wife's steak was so tender it just melted in my mouth. Everything from appetizer to dessert was superb, and Dave was an excellent waiter. This will be a regular dinner date for us.

LOVED the Lobster Bisque. Rich and creamy, with little chunks of tender lobster. Will be going back!

This restaurant is not worth wasting many words over so here are the bullet points. The service was extremely poor. In our party of seven one water was missing and when it eventually arrived, after having to ask for another, it looked like it had been sitting out for an hour (ice melted no lemon wedge). When one of our party received his chowder, he was not given a spoon. We asked our waiter for one and proceeded to watch him scurry about the dining room for 10 mins, as we placed side bets on whether he would remember. He didn't. When another waiter was asked for a spoon, and specifically for a soup spoon, he replied in an aggressive manner "I KNOW." So aggressive, that our host commented, "I think he is going to spit in your food." Oh yes the food. My Redfish Pontchartrain arrived. Looked appetizing, a piece of fish (definitely not snapper) on a bed of asparagus sitting atop mashed potato topped off with a brown mushroom sauce, their "jumbo" lump crabmeat and a shrimp. The fish was dry, the crabmeat, I'm not sure what that was (there were shells in my sauce, but they couldn't have come from the mystery lump.) The asparagus was unpeeled, so the stalks tasted shrub-like. The mash, well, the best way to describe them, umm, ok. Prepare the mash potatoes, refrigerate for four days, microwave, let stand till cool, serve. The desserts were ok. One would suspect they were made somewhere else. Massa's kitchen, in my opinion, is not capable of producing them. Was it a bad day for Massa's? It's your money.

I ordered the lobster bisque which the waiter said was the best. It wasn't. The soup was bland and the lobster tasteless as if over boiled. I also had the red fish ponchertrain. The fish was over cooked and a bit dry and the sauce lacking in quantity. If you vet had this in Louisiana the fish is topped with crab in abundance and sauce is overflowing. Overall this is below average food at above average prices. Won't return here again.

Good, fresh but pricey.. Nice place to bring business associates. The service and food is generally good.
