Anyone can pile extras on a hamburger patty, but Blake's starts with a very tasty burger that could stand alone without extras. Yummy good.
I tried the delivery option, but it was too much to ask for the food to be really good after a 20-30 minute transit time, especially the fries.
So, I'll always make the drive and get my meal hot off the grill.
Bacon cheeseburger and chopped beef sandwich was on point. Ribs fell off the bone and so did the chicken (tender and juicy) my daughter also loved the sweet potato pie!! We'll definitely be back.

Let’s gooo!! Great hole in the wall restaurant if you want REAL GREAT FOOD.
Recommend the dirty rice & Mac and cheese it was sooo good. Hamburger and fries seasoned greatly. Definitely will be returning and inviting others to this restaurant
This place is great. The burger was bomb, delicious, and juicy. I also got the onion rings and lemonade which were so good. It reminded me of an old school burger joint. I can't wait to try the rest of the menu. I look forward to going back.
I literally asked to shake the man's hand who made our food at Blake's. This is the type of place you talk about for days after leaving, and can't wait to return to on future trips. I found it on Yelp since we were staying nearby and looking for some good Texas BBQ--the fact that it wasn't a chain appealed to us, and we knew when we drove up it had the potential to be amazing. The atmosphere is that of an establishment that hasn't changed a great deal in 30 years, and that only adds to its charm.
We ordered both cheeseburgers and BBQ since we couldn't decide which to try. Can I just say that they were both equally amazing, and we couldn't stuff our faces fast enough. The burgers were clearly hand-formed and pressed, charred to perfection, with a soft, perfect bun. The BBQ meats (pork, sausage, and brisket) were fork-tender and the sauce was delicious. Sides of green beans and potato salad were also great, with the kids' fries being the only non-stand-out.
After we finished our meal, the lady came over and asked the kids if they wanted some homemade ice cream--DUH!! The husband and I split the Italian Cream cake, which tasted like someone's grandmother had made it.
I can't rave enough about this spot--reminded me of why Yelp is so amazing since we probably would have driven by it otherwise:)
Favorite BBQ joint in Houston besides my dad's back yard. Always greeted with a smile and good attitude, and the food is on point. I've recently been going for the gumbo and boudain plus whatever meat I'm in the mood for. Never been disappointed in the eats or the service, not to mention there's not usually a wait.
OMG, this place is an hiden gem. The best old fashioned homemade burgers in houston. It's black owned so don't waste your money somewhere else. Like whatabuger is a 3 star rating compared to Blake's. The other places are not even close. I definitely recommend you try there burgers. You will not be disappointed. Next, i will try the barbecue. I will let you guys know how the rest of the food tastes as i keep going back. 😋
The owners are wonderful, the food is delicious, the restaurant is always clean and homey. I'm impressed. This is my second time visiting and I brought a family member this time. Next time I go back I'll have to try their burgers since everybody raves about them! I highly highly recommend this place. Locally owned, DELICIOUS food!
Close to where I stay so location is great. I got a double cheese burger, fries and a loaded baked Potatoe.
The burger was good but nothing stood out about it. Fries were $4 but you dont really get 4$ worth in my opinion. The baked potatoe was pretty good and fulfilling. I do like the history of the place and to see it's been around for so long. It does have a "small town at home " feeling which I like. I'll be going back again to try other menu options
Ordered the 3 meats dinner had ribs, brisket, sausage links then 2 sides mac n cheese and pork and beans. The whole meal was great, probably wouldn't get the links again just wasn't my type of flavor. Everyone is very kind and funny. Definitely give this spot a try if you want some good BBQ.
Great food and amazing southern hospitality. Needed a weekend fix of comfort food and happy to have stumbled on this place. The gentleman at the window was friendly and courteous… he made me feel like a long time customer even though it was my first visit. I’ll definitely go again when I need some good food! Highly recommended!
It is confirmed, Mary Lou Retton lived in Westeheimer. There is photographic proof at this Blake's! They recommend having the burger if it is your 1st time and on your 2nd trip a Po Boy might be necessary.
