The food is really good. High place for tex -mex, and some reviews are correct when it comes down to service. The hostess don't greet or welcome you when you walk in, they just look at you and look away. The Aguas frescas were amazing! It's a good decent place for the prize. They give alot of food especially the parrilladas.

We came across this place, always looking to find a great new spot for Mexican food. It was our first time trying this place, which was very packed during our visit. Not very friendly upon entry to the business, the host did not greet us, just asking how many. However, it did not take them long to sit us down, around 15 minutes. Now, our waiter did not seem to be having a good day and was rude. At less, he was not trying to rush out after we ate.
The food took only a short time to come out and looked delicious. The taco was good, with fresh homemade tortillas. The menudo was right on point and had excellent taste to it. However, it lacked meat, and it was mostly hominy. The chilaquiles are traditional.
The atmosphere is perfect, and they have TV everywhere. The customer service was ok. They have clean restrooms, which is a top priority.
Parking is limited, but they do have additional parking across the street.
I recommend this place and try it againâhopefully a better experience. Safe travels. Prost

Love this place, food is amazing.. I got the Carne Guisada, it was very tender and flavorful, came with rice, beans and tortillas.. I also ordered a medium Quacamole and it was huge.. the small Chile con queso was also huge and we ordered a small.. Hubby ordered a Huge chicken burrito (no pic).. total bill was about $50 bucks.. with 2 teas..

Our place to stop for breakfast when coming into Houston. Breakfast is sold all day long. Fresh made flour and corn tortillas. Sopa de fideo just like home. Menudo is also tasty.

Best restaurant so far I've been to in Houston Mexican food Margaritas are great not only that the service was outstanding it was about an hour before they were closing and the waiter was very polite and courteous and professional that's what I'm used to and that's the way it should be with everybody regardless of what time it is

This restaurant is terrific! Their happy hour is always enjoyable. The food is flavorful. I love the tiles throughout the building, they look hand-painted! And the servers are exceptional, as always. Check this great place out located in the heart of Montrose!

Great Tex-Mex in a fun atmosphere. Service was just OK but they were very busy so it's understandable. Only negative is the salsa is kinda thin but some may like that.

Very disappointed with our return for late breakfast. Service was slow, food cold, portions smaller and total was shy $100 for 6 and that's bc one meal returned for extremely salted! Think we failed to check if it was removed from tap bc that would put us $16 plus per each (when one guest only had two tacos, if it was removed $19 plus for 5 bit high for ordinary not extrordinary breakfast .... gheez!! Also seated at back area while no one bother to notice elderly with walker not best seating choice bc the ramp is steep.
While la Mexicana has added additional parking and nicer patio area hope they return to better service and food. đ It will be a while before we make our way back

It had been a while that I had been there. Not too impressed this time. Ordered the Tortilla soup. It was just a bowl of tomato soup wuth shredded chicken. Very bland, no taste. Margarita was a typical glass of frozen mix. Could have gone to a taqueria and eaten a lot better food and a lot cheaper!!

I hate to say it about all of these other reviews but yeah y'all sound like you were having a bad day. This place brings my family from across town. I love this place and have only ever had great food and service. Probably because I treat them like anyone would want who is making your food, with respect. Go find a chain restaurant, stay out of H-town originals. If you don't like something, ask to have it replaced, it's food, not something to whine about.

I would love to give you all 4 stars but not impressed. The food was okay but the service was horrible. The waiter took a bit longer and did not know how to make change. While the food was okay and colorful it was still missing something. I live 4 min. Away and was trying something new. Lesson learned sometimes not the best.

I ordered the migas plate. Itis described as scrambled eggs covered in crumbled white cheese with a side of refried beans all of which is placed over a bed of fried tortilla chips. Well, the cheese had just been taken out of the deep freeze. By the time the eggs made it to my mouth, they were as cold as ice. The beans were just luke warm. As far as the bed of tortillas was concerned, I came across only two, countâem two tortillas. No bueno. Take the extra time to go to La Tapatia on Richmond.
