Review Naam Khao Thai Kitchen And Bar - Houston

This place has very authentic Thai food with a great modern atmosphere. We ordered the crispy egg rolls, yellow curry, larb, and mango sticky rice. It was very delicious. The staffs and owners were very personable as well. Come check it out, it won't disappoint!!! We'll definitely be back!!!

Our first time here and we were very impressed! We ordered the tomahawk which was AMAZING! We also ordered a variety of of “typical” Thai dishes to taste. The yellow curry was great, it’s hard to find a good yellow curry imo. We also had drunken noodles which had an almost a smokey flavor. The fried rice was also really good. The spice levels were on point. It reminded me of a fusion type restaurant. Give it a try you won’t be disappointed.

First time eating Thai cuisine and hands down couldn't have picked a better place to start. The food options are perfect for all types of foodies. The bar is packed with drink options as well. Went back a second time and came out just as satisfied. The overall service was on point. Yaneli and Eddie did a great job attending to my needs.

We ended up getting to-go from here one random night and have been thinking about it ever since. I’m a big Thai food fan and this satisfied my cravings! The owner was very nice- on the phone while ordering and when we picked up the food. The cool thing about this place is that if you decide to eat at the restaurant it’s also a bar.

This cute Thai restaurant is probably one top 3 list of my choosing for Thai food. Ever since I discover it couple of years ago. I have been coming back ever since. Reason I love it is because I think they are very authentic. I’ve been to Thailand and we were doing street eating every day so I know what’s authentic. The beef noodle soup with meat ball has the most intense flavor of all the other Thai place I have been. The creamy chicken tofu soup was so spicy yet so good. You can’t eat it yet you can’t stop eating it. The flavor is rich and creamy makes the chicken very Tasty too. When the dish arrives on your table you are probably already drilling. Clear glass noodle with veggies are always great. They have a very nice out patio seating, perfect weather for dine outside. Highly recommended, worth your time going.

I love that this place opens late! The Thai basil with chicken is delicious! Thai tea is very good. Loved the drunken noodles, but the Thai basil really was the best thing in my opinion. Staff are super friendly and helpful. I am definitely a recommending and returning customer.

I've came to this spot twice already and I gotta say each time has been amazing for me. I came here with my husband and colleagues after an event and we all order appetizers and steaks to enjoy. They had this special spice sauce that chef himself brought out and would check to see how the food came out. Staff was very friendly and would come by to refill drinks and ask if we needed anything else as we enjoyed the karaoke portion for the night. A nice little spot I would come to once in a while with husband and friends where I know they would have good food and wine.

I like everything that we ordered! Usually thai restaurants are overly sweet, not this one. I loved that! My favorite was the soured pork(naam khao). I have one negative, the sticky rice was not fresh, it was old rice heated up. I know so because I use to eat it daily. It was hard.

The food was really good and the service was fast enough. However, it seems that they were understaffed for Sunday evening traffic. The reason I have to take off one star is that the place was generally very messy, specially the patio which was also obviously dirty with cigarett butts all over the place and random plants(some of them dying) left there to make the place look nice, but they are just crowding the place and look very uncared for. Some of the tables were also wobbly and not usable. Overall, sitting outside was not a pleasant experience because of the atmosphere there. Indoors was a lot neater, but then again therr were stacks of boxes crowding the hallway leading to bathrooms… the menus we were handed were also dirty. They are supposed to be used only once, but have been and will be used more than that for sure…

AWESOME! We love Thai Gourmet in Houston but decided to try something new. This is just as good, if not better! The foods were delicious and fresh. The serving sizes were big, and the prices were more than reasonable for the quality. The servers were also kind and helpful. This is a Thai spot we will be visiting more often!

This is the best Thai restaurant in Houston, actually not only Houston but in the whole USA. We went there so many times and now our regular order has become the red curry fried rice (Khao Pad Gaeng Dang) and the Thai Railway Fried Rice (Khao Pad Rod Fai) and the Thai iced tea. Their small size Tom Yum soup is enough for 2 people. We also tried Pad Thai from here which is served as the Thai Street food Standard. Their desserts are also mouthwatering. We tried the mango sticky rice and the sticky rice with custard. Both were made just perfectly. The customer service here is just great. They are attentive to your order and always have a smiley face towards you. If you are in Houston and looking for the best Thai restaurant, I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Incredible lunch prices. Everything tasted great. Lunch also comes with a bowl of the soup of the day and a bowl of dessert.

The staff was very warm and inviting. I had the Shrimp Pad Thai from the Lunch Menu as well as the Thai Tea. Both items did not disappoint! I would definitely be coming back to Na'am Khao Thai Kitchen! Would definitely recommend checking it out if you're in the Memorial / Energy Corridor area!

All I gotta say is Food and service is 12/10! Even when I did take out you can tell they have regular customers. I had the house fried rice with Beef and Shrimp. I also had the sticky rice. So yummy!!!!!!

Food was ok, but what a fun and funky place. A little small restaurant with karaoke. Wasn't expecting it. Had bar and outside seating as well. The actual singer was good! Table tried different dishes and it was meh to really good. Steamed dumplings were really great said all that tried the appetizer. Service was a bit slow and one person had to wait quite a bit before he was served. Makes the table feel weird when that happens ya know? I might come again just because it's different and that is why 4 stars otherwise it would be 3 overall.

Authentic Thai food. We love the Pad Krapow, finished it so fast we forgot to take a photo lol. The Yum Woon Sen is nice, wish it had more glass noodles lol. It’s quite spicy here I guess for Americans but for Asians like us, we love the level 5.

We tried the thai chicken wings with the spicy fish sauce, thai chili cheese rolls, and the yellow curry with chicken. Everything was delicious! Great late night spot if you're hungry. The people are friendly and make you feel like family. Highly recommend!

My Husband and I tried the Thai food here on Oct.19,2016 for my Birthday & it was definitely a delicious treat. This was our first-time experience eating Thai & we loved every bit of it. We'll come back & Recommend this restaurant. We tried the Panaang Curry (chicken & shrimp) as well as beef & shrimp!

I recently found this gem and am quickly becoming a fan. Don't believe any of the negative reviews here - the food and service are outstanding. The Panang Curry is especially addictive. You have the option of dining restaurant style ar a table or if you are alone, you can sit at the bar. The servers are very friendly & engaging and remembered me on my second visit making me feel very welcome. This truly is a neighborhood gem! I look forward to many more happy visits.

EGREGIOUS CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! YOU CAN'T TEACH AN OLD DOG NEW TRICKS!. So . . . . . I revisit the place three times in order to afford the proprietor the opportunity to rehabilitate. My fourth visit, on last night, I was met with overwhelming unprofessionalism. The staff hurled vulgarities and other inapropriate terms in my direction based upon the previous review I submitted to yelp for potential customer perusal.

I would assume there is an underestimation, on naam khao's part, of the power of social media and word of mouth. The management and staff do not understand the definition, principle, or theory associated with the word "customer". Customers are the heart and soul of any business.

Houston has over three thousand restaurants and even more bars. When there is repeated and vicious biting of the hands doing the feeding there is serious potential for starvation. In my many visits to the Naam Khao faux business I do not recall them giving me any USD.

Nevertheless, hungry reader, do not starve, run from naam khao to the "THAI GOURMET" where you will be met with professionalism, Thai cultural atmosphere and delicious authentic cuisine; but, no vulgarities, drunkards, abusive management and staff! Demand excellence from every business you visit, especially if you are spending your hard earned money! BON APPÉTIT!

-----20 Jul, 2012-----

DO NOT EAT HERE, I'M BEGGING YOU ALL, GO TO "THE THAI GOURMET" BECAUSE 88% IS AN INFLATED RATING!!!. I have had the opportunity to visit the restaurant and bar many times. Unfortunately, the consistency of my visits has not been comparable with the services rendered. Although the fare is at or below average the service is frighteningly nightmarish.

The staff is not professional and consume alcohol while serving customers. Furthermore, the restaurant, after it transforms into a bar, reflects an egregious inattentiveness and insensitivity with regards to the diversity of patrons.

The employees badger customers to purchase them alcohol and are abrasive when rebuffed. This business is not the type of environment for a family gathering, unless, perhaps, you schedule your meal for late morning or early evening. Even then, there could be an inebriated or attitudinal "employee" or "regular" customer destroying the atmosphere or customer service.

There are a number of Thai restaurants and bars in the proximity of this business. I will hedge my bet on visiting a place other than Naam Khao, unless you like padded checks, rude employees and overpriced drinks and food. The restaurant deserves, on a percentage scale, on a good day, at most, an abysmal 65% or the letter grade of D. On a evening filled with multiple debacles as the result of lack of professionalism (staff and management) 0% or the letter grade of F which signifies failure.

Naam Khao"s So Good. I finally found authentic Thai food in Houston. Now, it's out West Off Eldridge and Briar Forest, which is technically East Katy, but it's so good.
I lived in Hawaii for most of my life and didn't know how good I had it with all the great Asian restaurants in my back yard until I moved to Houston.
It has really been a huge challenge finding, even edible Thai food in this city (sorry native Houstonians. I LOVE H-town), especially living so far from "town".
Well, Naam Khao's the real deal!
I could tell when I walked in by the group of chatty Thai women nibbling on plates of food at the end of the bar that I was in the right place. I ate full flavored red curry, and soup (plenty of left overs). And the prices were reasonable. I can't wait to go in a big group so I can try more great food.
Do yourself a favor and go eat, what I consider to be, the best Thai Food east of Hawaii.
Mark K
