Review Riva's Italian Restaurant - Houston

I was recommended this place by friends and it was a worthwhile visit. We were able to order our meal pretty easily, the decision was difficult to make as there are so many appetizing entrees but we managed to narrow down our choices and ordered the Beef Ravioli and Veal San Pietro. All entrees come with a soup and salad and garlic bread. The soup for the day was a vegetable soup and was so delicious, I almost picked up the bowl and drank it. I didn't ask what the salad was but it came with ranch and an in house sauce which were both delicious with the salad. I'd say the garlic bread has a little too much of whatever makes plain bread turn into garlic bread but that didn't stop me from eating more than 3 pieces of it, dipping it in my entree's sauce and whatnot. The entrees were great. I wouldn't have been able to eat them on my own entirely. The ravioli was everything I could have wanted and more. The veal San Pietro didn't hit for me as it did for others (3 people ordered it at our table) and that's fine. I'd still recommend trying it because everyone else said it was pretty good. The food filled us up and left us satisfied. I'd come back and try more when I can. As for customer service, overall pretty decent. I didn't notice anything out of place about it. The food arrived in a timely manner and they checked on us enough. One of the employees came over and doused our food in cheese and followed it with some innuendos which was fine since we're all adults. It added to the vibe.

My boyfriend and I came in on a Sunday for brunch and as soon as we came we were greeted, seated and had our drinks in less than 5 minutes. We stay close by and always pass by this place and decided to walk on over and try it out.. and it sure did surprise us. The food was delicious, the drinks were perfect and the service was outstanding.

Went for brunch on a Sunday and had a great time. Loved all the light decorations and the food and service were great. We had the lasagna and crema rossa with chicken and shrimp and they were huge flavorful portions! The only thing that was underwhelming was the tiramisu, because it seemed like it was frozen so it was not very enjoyable there, but it was good when it thawed at home

Penne Rosa pasta was outstanding! Truly enjoyed the salad & lentil soup … Dinner plates are very large! Next time we will share a plate — Five stars and definitely returning

We love Rivas. It’s a cute little homey restaurant that I believe is family owned. The main guy is always cool and sweet and always makes my Baha. We love because you get a lot of food for your money. I don’t believe anything is over $25 if that. You get Sam’s and soup and unlimited garlic bread with your entree. I also like that they don’t list it but they have vegan options. I definitely recommend this place for vegans. This is always great for a last minute or random date night when your in the car and decide you don’t feel like cooking. All together with both entrees and a drink and tip I spent $70

This place is a bit big for a hole in the wall. A neighborhood gem for sure. It could use a bit of a cleanup. The service is outstanding. The food is very good. We ordered the Shrimp Scampi (sautéed) 5/5, Chicken Picatta 5/5, Cannelloni 4.5/5, and crème brûlée cheese cake 5/5. The prices are great too.

Our favorite neighborhood spot - feels like old Montrose! Very upbeat, gay friendly, home style cooking. No kids under 12 due to more mature nature of jokes/guests. Michael the owner loves the community and the majority of the staff has been here for over a decade. Large portions at reasonable prices and strong cocktails!

Delicious food with a cute atmosphere. Excellent service. All food our table had was excellent with large portions. Highly recommend their Italian margaritas!

Was very impressed with their food, lentil soup and salad were amazing. I got spaghetti and meatballs and thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Very cute Christmas lights during the holidays. Will go back.

From the minute you drive up you'll know this is not going to be your ordinary restaurant. A sort of an old house reworked into an eclectic place to eat. I was there for a friend's birthday. If you want to be surprised, pleasantly surprised, slightly shocked, this is the place to take someone for their birthday lol. I don't want to spoil the surprise if you haven't seen it but it was definitely worth it and you didn't have to pay extra lol. Luis was a fantastic server. A sense of humor with great service it's a nice combination. This soup and salad that came with my meal we're a pleasant surprise. The salad was fresh and crispy great great flavor. The soup from what I understand was the Italian wedding soup, it will make you want to get married LOL. Will definitely come back for the food as well as the fun.

i would definitely come back! we stopped by from out of town, we were craving italian and i’m glad we picked this restaurant. the christmas decor is super cute and welcoming. definitely worth the value. i wasn’t expecting soup and salad. i ordered the chicken francisco with fettuccine as the side 10/10, pro tip: mix the fettuccine in with the chicken. service was fast. everything was yummy. Salomon, and the team was really friendly and fun.

Came in from out of town, Austin. Walkable from where we stayed. Enjoyed the atmosphere where it was older and just had that Italian vibe. God was fantastic and lots of serving. Owner came to see us a few times and was very nice. Even complemented by date.

I love this place. Always a good time and lots of fun energy. The food is usually pretty good for the price point. On this particular visit they were having on off night. The Penne with cream Rosa and shrimp was very good. A favorite, and one of their best appetizers, the grilled portobello mushroom disappointed. It was flavorless and water logged. The marinara on my spaghetti marinara, which I've enjoyed in the past, also lacked any flavor. Tasted like someone opened a can of tomatoes, heated them up and served it. Had no body, no depth. That's disappointing when you're in the mood for a simple, but good, bowl of macaroni with gravy. They've been around for a long time, so that tells you they must be doing something right. They definitely get a pass on this night's experience. We will be back. Go experience Riva's. I do recommend them.
