Review Captain Tom's Seafood And Oyster - Houston

A unique dining experience in this local seafood favorite (shaped like a boat). Everyone sits at the "bar," and if crowded, you just wait for seats to open up. The shrimp and flounder were excellent, and even though you may wonder how the servers notice new clientele to wait on them, they keep track and do well! We got our food quickly too! It's worth the trip out here.

The food was incredibly amazing! The service was stellar! The atmosphere was fun and friendly as our waiter was another guy sitting at the bar behind us.😂 Just part of the experience here. Absolutely fantastic gumbo and raw oysters!!!😋😋

Really fresh food and oysters! The gumbo was by far my favorite part of the entire meal, so flavoful, had to order a portion to go for my husband 😊

This is THE place for seafood! Everything tasted so fresh and I was so shocked by how much I liked everything. The oysters were top notch, I even had a dozen for myself! The shrimp tasted really fresh and I enjoyed the juicy goodness. The salt and pepper catfish was very crunchy and I especially enjoyed the sauce that came along with it. I got gumbo at the end and I thought it was very tasty, but I just wish it was more hot though.

Always a must driving back to the city in I-10 from the East. Food is phenomenal. I always enjoy the people. Can get pretty crowded, but it's well worth it. Micheladas are great, oysters are fantastic, crab fingers have been a regular dish for me now. Hits the spot every time.

I visit this spot every time I'm in the Houston-area. Great, boat-shaped restaurant with excellent food choice. The restaurant doesn't really have waiters, you just place orders with the kitchen staff and somehow they keep up with your order despite how busy and crazy it gets in there. All seating is also stools and bar-type seating and not your usual tables or booths and during busy times you have to just wait for open seats to pop up. The food is great and the oysters are only $10 for a dozen which is unbelievable to me as I'm used to paying double that or more where I live. The fried oysters, shrimp, fish, and frog legs are all excellent. All the necessities are provided as well. They have a nice selection of beers too. The regular soft drinks are served in cans and no refillable. Overall, excellent spot and as long as it's open and in town I'll pay it a visit.

I come here for the oysters and micheladas. Oysters are always clean and fresh, prices are very reasonable compared to other places around town. Just be sure to bring cash because they don't accept cards. Also if it's a weekend be prepared to wait for a seat.

Love this place! People from all walks of life talking, interacting, no one speaking the same language! It's just something you can't quite put your finger on. You walk into the place and want to be there. From the crazy crooked bar and walking up to the bow of the boat and then back down, watch your step! It's cramped, it's cozy, it's the place you want to be if you love people. The food is exemplary, and the oysters are excellent. The gentlemen behind the bar amaze me in their ability to shuck oysters so quickly. The cool thing is you get your oysters perfectly shucked and not all ripped to pieces like some places. The fried shrimp are huge and everything is done up in real simple corn flour. The micheladas are the best! The mixture of fresh lime, salt and their secret sauce will keep you coming back for more. Going in there and having one of those bad boys on a hot summer afternoon is what life's all about! This is truly a Houston landmark.

Great food, great service, and served hot, fresh, and fast! I loved the fried oysters. Not a date spot, loud and close. But good food.

Can't beat the prices and the food is fantastic. But you're gonna have to wait because it's always busy

In Houston, the only preferred oysters chain. The oysters tastes very well, in mid-September every year, the meat of oysters is delicious, and the fried cats are also very good.Gumbo seafood porridge is also super delicious.

The staff service was great. Got my Favorite Raw Oyster's, Gumbo and Texas Mini. Great Food fast service. One of my oysters had a pearl. That was really cool.

Best Gumbo in town hands down! If you don't come early be ready to wait. The spot is small but fills up quick. Micheladas on point!

I tried their seafood gumbo...pretty good! It's a quaint little place, nothing fancy. But has a community feel to it. Definitely regular customers. I'll be back for sure!!

The gumbo is horrible it is not a true gumbo it's almost got a Mexican flair do it it is not a true Louisiana Texan gumbo what a waste of money never again

My husband & I got there around 11:45 so seating wasn’t a problem. We had boiled shrimp, fried shrimp, fried oysters & fish. Everything was delicious. We live in Galveston & it’s a “crying shame “we have to drive to NW Houston for food this good & reasonably priced

Great Place. My husband and I enjoy coming here. It is very different then any other place we have been to but the food is excellent and the prices are amazing. We always have a good time and have never had an issue with the food. Great place to eat.

Boom! Legit... This place was bumpin' on a Monday night. Great prices on food and beers, good service, and tasty food. Will def be back (and I live in Austin, not Houston).

Festive Seafood. One reviewer said it was loud and everything was in Spanish. Yes, it's loud, in fact it's volumes beyond loud. But as for everything in Spanish, I don't get it. English is definitely the second language here, but the servers are fluent in English. And menus posted on the wall are in English only. So what's the problem? Patrons are mostly Hispanic. They come for the micheladas, raw oysters, gumbo and fried shrimp. And they come for a good time. I'm usually the only Gringo in this neighborhood place and I come for the no-frills seafood and the party. I don't bring my wife here--she wouldn't endure the noise and chaos well. But she expects a to-go plate--she does appreciate the food.

This place has THE BEST MICHELADAS!!
