Review Harold's Restaurant, Bar, & Terrace - Houston

Another HRW23 venture. We ate downstairs in the bar/lounge area because upstairs was super busy. The bar top was dirty and the bartender seemed a bit overwhelmed when we arrived. She cleaned it up right away and took good care of us. The food was tasty and the drink menu was very interesting. They have unique liquor offerings and it was a nice relaxing atmosphere. There were sitting areas to just chat and have a drink if you didn't want to sit at the bar and I really liked that, very homey feel. We had shrimp and grits and Fried Chicken and Mash with Chcolate layer cake and Granny Cake for dessert, everything was super tasty.

We sat on the covered terrace, yes in Texas Heat, it was overcast so not too hot, and although they were short staffed, they gave us service with a smile. Our happy hour drinks were great and the food was delicious, they even turned on the outdoor cooling fan for us. Everyone that was there made our visit most enjoyable, this was our second time visiting, and certainly not our last

Came in during Houston Restaurant Weeks, ordered from that menu. The deviled eggs were good. The little chicken bite on them is a fun addition for some texture, and the pepper definitely gave it a nice zing. I wanted something fried, and drowned in gravy, and they definitely delivered there. I'd have preferred to have my vegetables on the side, but overall, the food I got was good, and it came out hot. My drink was good, even though I feel like it took forever to get it. Service was pleasant enough albeit a little slow. Perhaps they were just shortstaffed on the day I went. Overall, I would dine there again if I happened to be in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way to dine there.

Found this gem while out and about and enjoyed a nice dinner with a pretty view. The bar had plenty of seats but we opted to sit on the terrace, which was nicely decorated with patio lights. Food was good, but wish they had more wine variety. Good ambience overall.

The patio upstairs is amazing, I can imagine if it's busier it's even better. The food was alright.. wasn't my most favorite Caesar salad and the deviled eggs lacked a bit of seasoning. But my friend said her pizza was good! The sangria was amazing though! I think I'd go back after visiting a few other restaurants in this strip!

This was our first time here, the food was very delicious. We ordered a mimosa flight with multiple flavor options and honestly they were all very yummy. Our waiter was very nice and definitely gave us a great first time experience, I definitely recommend

This is a good restaurant for everyone. The food is good... But it's definitely not soul food or Southern food. It lacks the seasoning and flavor profile of soul food or Southern food. The fried chicken is good and you can tell that it was brined, yet there is a serious need for white pepper, paprika, and other seasonings. The crab cake is NOT a lump crab cake. Lump crab cakes do not require a ton of breading, sauce, or toppings. There is parking behind the restaurant. You can have a drink at the bar on the first level. Food and an additional bar can be found upstairs. You can dine inside or outside. There is a fireplace and AC units - neither were is use at the time that I dined outside. A good place to try... Just manage your expectations. Staff is friendly and accommodating.

The food was so good! I had the chicken and waffles, which was big enough to share with my child. It came with 4 waffles and half a chicken! Our server was super nice and the atmosphere was perfect. The music was loud enough to enjoy but not annoying. The patio was perfect. We had Bloody Mary drinks and they were awesome! It was all of our first time there and we'll worth the visit!

Found this gem and enjoyed an evening out for our dinner while in Houston. I had the fish and chips and my husband had the fried chicken. Food was good, only complaint is the flies that got in as the outside terrace door opened. The drinks were good and the food was good.

Great place for brunch. Food is tasty and their mimosa flight is worth try! It was pretty empty for a Saturday brunch though, but we didn't complain as service was dedicated to us!

Really enjoyed eating upstairs with a view of the classic heights area. Very clean and nicely decorated. Food was delicious. We came at lunch so it was too hot to sit on the patio but will come back for happy hour next time once it gets cooler out. I took a star off because the service was sooo slow. Only one other table that had already finished eating by the time we were sat. Took us over an hour.

Nice balcony and great menu. There are a wide variety of choices for both food and drink. There are options that take into account and special food needs. Happy hour prices were a nice surprise for lunch. We went on a weekday for lunch and they were not busy which was enjoyable. We plan to go back and try something different next time.

I had such a lovely brunch. Ordered the beer battered cod with a side of maple brussel sprouts. The flavors and textures were delightful. The waitress, Alexis, was absolutely amazing. She was very attentive, kind and helpful. Definitely made our experience special. Thanks Alexis, I will definitely be back!

I attended a work happy hour on the rooftop. It was a nice atmosphere for sure. The food setup wasn’t the best. Some of it seemed to have been premade very early in the day and was a bit stale. The drinks are good but seemed very strong! Someone might love that! If it burns my esophagus off then I struggle. The place itself is good and has adequate parking! I would return with my husband for cocktails for sure.

Houston Heights neighborhood is one of the happening places in Houston and you don't want to miss Harold's when you are here. We went here for a friend's birthday lunch and we had a great experience. We wanted a a table by the window and the staff was very accomodating in getting us the table that we wanted. We were a big group and they were extremely patient with us. 10/10 for their service. We ordered a lot of food and everything was really good. Their pizza is the one that I will always remember. Their crab cakes and red snapper fish is worth a try. The food portions were large. I tried everything from friend's orders and I was not a big fan of their pasta. There are a lot of drinks options to select from and we got their Fitzgerald - please try and you will definitely like it. Overall it was a good experience.

I will say the food is not bad, after a little pepper and salt, but the service was A-1. Our server was Nicholas, and he stayed smiling, and brought great energy. Also, I have to shout out Fabian, Netta, Devin, and the bartender girl with the hat for adding to our experience by giving my sister a wonderful birthday experience. I highly recommend coming to this specific location, the vibes are everything.

Great service, food and ambiance. Set in a historic men’s department store in the Heights, Harold’s host a fantastic brunch menu including a Crab Cake Eggs Benedict and a Big Nasty Biscuit that is delicious. After washing them down with a nice size mimosa, you will be ready to take that Sunday nap you deserve.

Love, Love, Love this place! It's always so cozy and the service is great! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was the lack of vegetarian options. I was a bit disappointed recently when I went in and wasn't allowed to order from the lunch menu (which was only about 45 minutes away) because of such few vegetarian options on the brunch menu. Other than that I love this place and will continue to visit!

This restaurant is a hidden dream in the Heights. Allie Jarrett, the owner, has done a great job of interpreting southern Creole food, with a twist - and the wine list is awesome. We had the Boudin balls stuffed with pimento cheese and slaw. The "Big Old Biscuit" - fried chicken, cheddar cheese, home made gravy on a high biscuit! A meal in itself! Top it off with Miner Rosato wine. Great summer lunch.

Great food, service and location. I host a monthly meeting here and finally found a place that understands the meaning of customer service. Everyone of our members and guests say nothing but great things about their experience here. I also take my clients here for initial meetings. The owner and team are exceptional and I highly recommend eating and enjoying a drink on the terrace.

Outstanding food! Great atmosphere! This will become our new favorite place! Highly recommend you try it! Love the variety of food on the menu and the hush puppies were my favorite!

Harold's was an unexpected, delicious delight. My TX friends remembered Harold's as a men's clothing store. The chicken was crisp and tender and hot. The Hawian dinner rolls were the best. The mac and cheese was really cheesy. To top it off the Sangria was sweet and tart.

Restaurant is hidden next to Torchy's, but what a great find! Gumbo is very flavorful and I wish I had a bowl instead of a cup. All of the ingredients were very fresh and delicious. Highly recommend the mirliton crab cake!

The beer was good, meal not so good. When the food came out it was cold, would not go back. Staff did come around to ask if everything was okay but I didn’t have the heart to tell them food was not good.

I really enjoy eating pizza hear with a pint of Stestí Czech style beer. Tonight was exceptional as Harold's featured every craft beer offered by the family operated brewery in the Piney woods of Lovelady, TX. Thanks Allie!

My drink (crown neat) is excellent. That's why I didn't give a 1. I ordered a seafood poboy that came with shrimp that were boiled, battered and then fried. SEAFOOD poboy to me indicates more than one food from the sea, that's up for interpretation Everyone deserves a second chance. Third times the charm, fingers crossed.

Went on Tuesday for lunch. Awesome service, excellent food. I had the chicken sandwich on the best bread ever. Husband had the Carolina Pulled Pork sandwich and very good. We definitely will be back. Gonna try out brunch next.

The fish and chips were fabulous and the tinibellini really hit the spot. Service was a little slow but the place was busy. All in all a good time and will go back.

The fried chicken and mash was amazing. The sticky toffee pudding tasted like heaven even though it wasn’t very pretty to look at. I have no real complaints. Was worth every penny.

If you are hungry for a taste of South Carolina low country cuisine, Harold's is the place to be. My brother's family lives in Beaufort, SC and a visit to Harold's is the second best thing to being at his house. Yum!

The location is great. 👍🏽Besides that, the food is very under-seasoned and over priced. Also, I ordered a drink that did not live up to its standard. The server seemed like he didn't want to be there either. Oh well!🙂
