Review Bb's Tex-orleans - Houston

Crystal Saavedra-Perez
Our experience was great! The boil experience was scrumptious!!! The grits were delicious as well as the boudin balls! Hakeem was a wonderful bartender and waiter! He made our night very pleasant with his charisma and kindness! He made our experience so enjoyable! He made me a Piña colada that I said was "tolerable" and went out of his way to have someone else make me one that I would enjoy more!!! The gentleman who took his time to make it was also so very nice!! And the gentleman who seated us was very kind too (he had a unique mustache)! Our over all experience was great and we'll definitely be back, hopefully we'll catch the great bartender with his great service!

Excellent service and great bar tender. Food is fantastic 😋. It was great seeing a sweet friend, Dennis Rodman, there and in Houston. We used to model at his. New Port Beach ⛱️ restaurant. He would give us big hugs. Welcome to Houston, Texas

This place is fantastic and a great Houston escape into a genuine New Orleans vibe - the owners, the art, and the food are all NOLA authentic. They're open late and have a great menu (they are part of the Houston Restaurant Weeks too), this place has my stamp of approval!

The best boil we’ve ever had. There was so much flavor with their wet rub they add. The alligator sausage, pollo bombs, and corn were better than expected. 1/2 pound shrimp provided more than enough! The drinks weren’t too sweet and had good flavor. The ambiance outside was peaceful and quaint.

BBS Tex-Orleans for lunch today. The restaurant was cute, cozy, and clean. The boudin balls appetizer was delish! We chose the daily gumbo special and the small order of etouffee for our lunch. Both dishes were good. I’m from south Louisiana, so I enjoy a darker roux than what was served.

Great deals on crawfish, with 3lbs $23.99 and 5lbs $33, recommend Cajun flavor if you are not a spicy lover, and if you are into spicy flavor, definitely Texas flavor!

Went here for the first time with my family. This is now one of my favorite restaurants in Houston. The food was amazing. We had the Boudin Flautas which was the best thing I have eaten. My daughter had the fish tacos. She said they were delicious. If your visiting Houston go see Randy he was a wonderful server.

Bbs is our neighborhood go to spot for all things tex Orleans...Cajun with Texas flair. The crawfish are always on point! The boudin link comes straight from Louisiana and only 6 bucks on happy hour and it is FIRE. The staff is awesome Randy and all the crew make everyone feel right at home. We like this BB's best out of all the locations.

Excellent food and service. I had the shrimp and grits with a side salad. I'm going to have it again sometime soon. Tried the grilled shrimp dinner today. It was very good. They don't have it on the menu so you have to ask for grilled. They are very accommodating so it wasn't a big deal to get it grilled.

Food was amazing. It was our first time visiting, and it more than we expected. Jordan was a great server. Whenever we come back to Houston we will most definitely stop again.

The seafood Gumbo soup is fantastic, plus their hushpuppy is great. There are two types of sauce for crawfish and we prefer tex-orleans style. Ordering 5 ponds is a better deal. Outside seating is great unless it's too windy. Go a bit early to beat the crowds.

Nice Louisiana themed place. Got seated and served promptly. Very nice selection of drinks. We aren't very familiar with Cajun cuisine so it was nice to see some authentic items on the menu, dishes seemed original. Food prices are cheap and the portions that they serve are beyond generous. For some of the food we had there was a little bit of flavor lacking, but I really can't say anything was disappointing. The manager came to check on us and demonstrated some genuine hospitality. Overall great experience, definitely will visit again.

4.5 stars for a great experience! Still has the mom and pop feel, and the food is so comforting. We tried a little bit of everything from the etoufee, gumbo, poboy and fried shrimp. The brownie dessert is not to be missed! Would certainly come back; it seemed like a lot of people were also enjoying the booked crawfish

This place’s food is really good, I have tried 3 different plates and they are always good, portions are generous and normally you wont be able to eat the full plate. People are nice its just service takes a little bit and if you are in a timed lunch break this could be a problem, but I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for Cajun food. PS: I forgot to take the picture before putting the rice in.

Halena, our server was great spirit, good attitude, polite. Food was great.

Super glad I found this gem while visiting Houston. The barbecue joint I planned on visiting closed early, so I made my way down the street to BB's. The service was great (thanks Zachary) and the food was phenomenal. I enjoyed a great Bloody Mary, entre, and some of the best bread pudding I've ever had. I'll definitely be back.

Our server Carlos was amazing! Told us about their Daily Feature of 5 pounds of Field Run bugs for $35! I love coming here! Y’all need to try Texas Twister margaritas and their Boudin balls!!!!!! Ohhhh and don’t forget the Loaded Pollo Bullets! 😌😋😉 thank me later ☺️

I loved our waitress...she was amazing. The drinks were...okay. not very strong. We had boudain balls that way too "porky". Fried great...but not seasoned well or have enough rice. The shrimp and grits was good. Filled with peppers and corn. We had chicken and sausage gumbo that was pretty good in a cajun crunch! Overall...I will return.

I’d never come back here again, neither location! Service was trash , manager don’t care and won’t offer to fix or replace anything. Wait staff seams to just started working yesterday. I would never recommend this place to a dog

This is not your typical Pub Food hang out. This neighborhood gem has Creole/ Cajun fare, that is prepared with real Chef quality. The atmosphere can get a little hectic, because at times it is a busy place; popularity denote quality in this establishment. However, the staff is always professional and courteous. The manager walks the floor regularly. so if you see something out of sorts, let him know and he will certainly handle it. This place is in the heart of the Greenway plaza/ River Oaks corridor and that makes for a wide range of patron types. But this is not strictly a yuppy, hipster or millennial type joint. I've seen all walks in here and that is WAY COOL. You won't usually find your super uptight, Stuft shirt, pinky out and starched collar types enjoying the fare here. If you are one of those types this may not be your Blond Bombshell. (Hense the few complaints you may see in the reviews). If you are looking for a comfortable, be yourself, have a beer or something stronger and a fantastic meal sort of place, you found it here. They have a great patio as well for the warmer months, for you outdoorsy types. I love this place as the perfect neighbor hood gathering place...

This was one of the best lunch experiences I've had in houston! Roy was a great server and very attentive. The weather was beautiful and I had a great view from the patio. The Crawfish were the best I've had yet! ♡ my bloody Mary's were on point too ;)

Being a person that works in a customer service environment I want to say that this establishment is horrible. It is horrible from the check in to the checkout. I brought a gathering for my birthday celebration and the selection of your establishment was the worst decision I made. I told the hostess that I didn't have a preference on outside or inside. Your patio was nearly empty. We waited for nearly a hour and a half to be seated because they mixed us up with another large party that said they wanted to be seated inside. When we finally got seated we gave our orders and had to wait another hour before even our appetizers came to the table. The waitress said the kitchen was having a backup. My three year old was the last to get his food. I was so pissed off at the service that I couldn't even eat my tasteless dry food. When I had to ask for the manager, she apologized and said that we would be compensated. I sent my food back but still was charged a portion of the bill for that tasteless stuff I sent back. I will not be recommending this place to anyone, and will be only dealing with Pappas brand from now on. I visited the Pearland location on 8-5-16 around 7pm.

Shout out to our server Ben... service was excellent. The #Crawfish was wonderful, I got my fix, and it was well worth the wait. Thank you Michael for your gracious welcome; you manage a great venue and team. We'll be back....

Doing Uber everyday, and dropping clients off here, I decided to give it a try myself. The poboy was killer. The gumbo was awesome. Will be back, and recommend my riders to BB's.

Used to love this place but why did you change the breading on the fried shrimp??? It was great before but now the panko breading is too heavy and, frankly, the finished product no longer looks hand prepared but instead something that would come from Sysco foods. The table next to us thought it was chicken or from a Chinese restaurant. Please fix this!!!

I don't really review much, but this place has some awesome food and the service was great!

This place was vibrant and savory. The food was to die for. Will be going again soon.

The food here is always good. However sometimes the services questionable. But we go back two to three times a month because of the food. Try it

Self described as Cajun Creole Tex-Mex, which is Houston in a nutshell. Fun place, intimate folksy setting and good food.

Lamar Bound<br/><br/>I love their seafood gumbo with extra crab meat. I usually get it to go because I work at the school around the corner and by the time I make it back to my class it's still hot. Also try their boil shrimp the spicy ones. Very good.

I wanted to eat a taste of a dish that was a Cajun/ Tex mex fusion, which is what drew to trying out BB’s in the first place. I landed on the boudin flautas. Three flour tortillas filled with boudin, crab meat, deep fried, then covered in a verde cream sauce. I don’t normally order sea food dishes, but it’s hard to go wrong with a deep fried tortilla. Great choice , with red beans and rice as a side. The red beans were really good with a bit of a smokey flavor. I ordered 2 hush puppies for $1. After one bite, I ordered 2 more. Excellent, light and flavorful. Service was attentive and friendly.

I have been to this BB’s Café location (Upper Kirby) a couple of times, but a recent visit on a Saturday evening was my first visit in more 2 years. Despite the place was packed, the wait staff did a great job to get our food/drink orders out in a timely basis. Parking can be a problem especially during weekday business hours.

The BB's on Richmond has an over-salting problem that may not extend to other BB's. That said, there are some very good dishes here, including the Chalamette Macaroni and Grillades & Grits. Many of their fried items suffer from some mealy breading/soggy feel.  The bread used for their po' boys is seriously lacking in correct texture and becomes soggy far too quickly. Both of the gumbos were way over-salted as were the etoffees, but all were very flavorful. The shrimp & grits was too mushy to be good. And the beer was good and cold, although pricey.

As a New Orleans transplant to Houston, I often get a hankering for the food I grew up eating. Unfortunately, BB's cafe doesn't even come close to replicating anything you would find within a 100 mile radius of New Orleans. I was actually embarrassed sitting through my meal of crawfish, "chalmette" macaroni, and a roast beef poboy. It's almost like someone gave the chef a menu from a local spot in New Orleans and told them to try their best to make it...without showing them how to make it correctly. <br/><br/>First of all, the crawfish had seasoning added to the outside of the shells, that doesn't happen in New Orleans. You are supposed to put the liquid and solid seasoning in the boil, not throw it on afterwards. The point of not throwing it on after you pull the crawdads out of the water is to make sure the entire crawfish is seasoned instead of just the part you don't actually eat (the shell). <br/><br/>Second, any resident of chalmette that would've seen the "chalmette" Mac and cheese probably would've fought the manager on site. Thankfully, I'm not from chalmette, but I've spent enough time there to know that you can't heat up a velvetta Mac and cheese to go cup and call it "chalmette" Mac n cheese. It's about the same as ordering Kobe beef and getting flank steak--that's how different the quality was in this particular dish. <br/><br/>Finally, the roast beef poboy. A staple of any New Orleans poboy shack. The most important aspect of any restaurant that wants to call itself NOLA food. You shouldn't have to add Tabasco just to get through finishing it. The beef should have enough taste to where adding anything to it would detract from the taste of the beef. Also, the makeup of the sandwich shouldn't be 75% lettuce, 25% beef. Oh, and that ain't French bread. I could get better French bread at a Vietnamese restaurant--that's just lack of effort. <br/><br/>Overall, this place needs work. I'm actually offended that there's a place out there representing my city to people, all the while serving this knock-off crap for double the price I could get in the state of Louisiana. I could look past a lot of these flaws if they actually gave some effort in their service to customers...but alas, they don't. <br/>

This app says they serve breakfast but they don't =(<br/><br/>This zomato app says they serve breakfast and they do not. This zomato app is horrible.

My wife and I went here late one night looking for something to eat, thought we'd give it a try. We were very happy when we left had the best PoBoy to touch my lips. We'll definitely be back!!

One of the smaller locations, but not the smallest. Of course, being known for their crawfish that is a must when you visit here. However, if you're looking for something else I would highly advise the Tuesday Special which is pecan crusted chicken, jalapeno/brisket mac & cheese and veggies. I could literally eat this every day and never get sick of it. Abita-Rita is also a must when you go!

Not a good experience. Waited for about 5 minutes without any acknowledgment whatsoever. Then were put on a wait with no one else waiting and plenty of tables open. Saw an older couple be asked to move to make room for a larger party. Went to the bar to order drinks and were put on wait there as well...by the manager. Waited 20 minutes and ended up just leaving. Would not recommend.

Found this place because it was close to my hotel and glad I did. Friendly service, great food but drinks are pricey. Had the fried shrimp Po Boy and gumbo. Beer was as much as my sandwich but they do have a great selection of local beers. Will come back again for sure.

Some if the best fried pickles I've had in Houston. The spicy boiled shrimp is prepared with crawfish boil and is served with corn and potato. Friendly prompt service.

I love this little chain. We used to go to the one on Montrose all the time. Then started going to the new one in The Heights. I just moved to Greenway and was pumped about them opening near me. We went tonight to eat, drink and watch the games. The food was very average. The sandwiches are usually do stuffed you have to clean up with a fork. Not here, my sandwich was very small, the fries were cold and the bread was too tough. I'll probably give it another chance because it's so close but I was seriously disappointed.

Anyway. So now that I like Cajun food, I sauntered on over to local favorite BB's Cafe. I assume it's a local favorite because the logo is so cute, a snoozing moon, that there's no way people could manage to stay away. The logo would just melt their hearts. +10 Also there is a BB's right next to the Velvet Melvin, where I frequently hold my birthday parties. Public service announcement: you can no longer get a fish tank for free on your birthday, you have to pay $18 for it even if you cry. If you're looking for a better deal on your birthday, you can come over to my apartment but there's no guarantee that I'll stay awake past 12:30 to hang out with you (maybe that's why people in New Orleans didn't card me - because it was barely even night time hours and I was already checking my watch and wondering aloud when we could be back to the hotel room, asleep)
