Review Ramen Tatsu-ya - Houston

Ella Lu
My friend and I hadn’t seen each other in a few years, and we chose this place to catch up. That said, Ramen Tatsu-ya is already a special place. They have an efficient process to get orders and patrons seated. Only full parties are seated, so there’s no wait time. It’s obvious the seating arrangements were laid out to accommodate a variety of diners. There are seats for the solo diner that appear to have plenty elbow room as well as the option for community seating. This alone gave me the impression that the owners had considered a customary Japanese approach that was also suitable to average Texan. I ordered the mi-so-hot. It was an appropriate amount of a very savory heat that didn’t mask the broth and other ingredients. The noodles weren’t very chewy, so I can only assume it’s not hand-pulled. Not a big deal though. I’m writing this review weeks later, and the overall flavor is still memorable. My only gripe would be the bathrooms. Going from the modern dining area to the bathroom felt like stepping into a back alley or dive bar.

We love this place for casual date nights. Service is consistent and always fast, whether during week days or peak time on weekends. Have been here 4 times and the food is always 10/10. Highly recommend trying out the different flavor bombs to enhance the ramen. If you order appetizers, know that the ramen comes out so fast you might end up getting appetizers towards the end of your meal.

After looking for a year for a nice ramen spot after our local favorite closed during the pandemic, we finally found a suitable replacement! What we love about this place is the thick, flavorful, fatty broth rich with aroma! The noodles aren’t the bland, soggy noodles you’ll find at most ramen shops, but nice with a good bite to them. Great spot with plenty of bowl options and toppings.

Ramen Tatsu-ya was a place that provided a quick and satisfying dinner. We stumbled here by playing restaurant roulette and it was a delicious experience. The service was prompt and the food was presentable and tasty. Come here if you're in search of flavorful ramen and good service.

Overall this place was great. Food was delicious only and the service was fast. For some it may be confusing when you arrive. Their process is they have you order, then pay and then you wait to be seated... which was quick. It's the first time I've seen that process but I enjoyed the process because once your done you can leave when your ready. We ate Gyoza as a starter (forgot to take a picture) but they are steamed then seared on a pan to give it a crunch. We ordered the #3 and #4. #4 is basically #3 but the spicy version. Overall the portion was great and the broth had amazing flavor. For people who don't eat Ramen there broth is pork based which is richer then others. It's not for everyone but in my opinion has more flavor so I was very happy with the flavors. If you want to "up" your experience they offer flavor bombs to add a little something special. I wanted to try the broth but next time I'll try for sure. Now the one negative... it didn't affect us but I have to give the full experience to give a fair review. We received our starter and drinks quickly but noticed minutes turned into 10 minutes then 10 minutes turned into 20 minutes. This wouldn't be an issue but every person who sat and ordered after us received their meals. So I spoke with a staff member to inquire about our ramen. The manager then came to the table and apologized stating the ticket was misplaced and they were making the food and would be brought out immediately. After that we received our food within 5 minutes. No big deal to us because to me it was still fast BUT if we had not said anything how long would we have waited. The manager did apologize and did offer an item on the house. Overall he handled it like a professional and because of that I still stick with 5 stars. Just be mindful and make sure to pay attention. I highly recommend you visit this place. I'll definitely go back!

So we went to Ramen Tatsu-ya for lunch last Thursday and it was absolutely wonderful. For appetizers, we ordered the fried pork goyza and their Karaage chicken. Both plates were magnificent, the Karaage was well seasoned and crispy, and the dipping sauce complemeted the chickens flavors to perfection. The goyza was uber fresh and perfectly cooked. As main dsihes, we ordered the Tsukemen and Sho-yu tonkotsu ramens, and they were both sublime. Both noodles were super fresh and cooked on the right side of perfect. The Tsukemen's broth was thick and luscious with deep, complicated flavors that teased the palates' perceptions. While the Sho-yu's broth was creamy, silky, and bold while encompassing all the plates ingredients in every mouth full. To drink, we had their iced Macha, which was fantasic and was just what we needed to round up the meal. Overall, it was a fantastic meal. At an awesome venue, I highly recommend this restaurant to any ramen aficionado. P.S. their staff is the bomb!

I love ramen and this is one of my favorite spots. I usually alternate between Mi-So-Hot (tonkotsu) and Tsukemen. Gyozas is usually what I start with but today I decided to also have the Muchie Katsu Slider and it was soo delicious. The staff is always so courteous and they always make great recommendations. I left so content and satisfied with my lunch today that I decided to leave a well deserved review.

First time trying this place and it was probably the best meal I’ve had in a while. I got the mi-so-hot with a fire in the bowl bomb. It was so spicy with the habanero 🔥 it was also reasonably priced for the portion size! I’m already looking forward to going back once the weather cools down.

A fairly traditional style of ramen. I loved it. The noodles were perfect and the broth was rich in flavor. I didn't see anything particularly innovative and to me that's perfectly fine. The food made me happy and the atmosphere and staff were lovely.

Great atmosphere and fast service!! The ramen and matcha iced tea were delicious! They have a small parking lot which was great since we didn’t have to look for street parking. Highly recommend!

Ramen was Top 3 of all time for me. Loved the OG Tonkatsu with a spice bomb.

This has been the go-to ramen spot for my friends and me since college. The parking lot is somewhat small and you may have trouble finding parking during peak dinner hours but outside of that, I've always been able to find a spot. The restaurant itself has an immersive, relaxed vibe with plenty of booth and table seating available. The staff have always been very kind and accommodating if you need anything. The food always comes out fast and while it is not the cheapest meal in Houston the serving size is massive and the food is incredible. I have tried most of the bowls of ramen on the menu and 'THE OG' with a side of 'Karagee' is my favorite. If you're looking for an amazing, fairly priced comfort meal that you can count on to be consistent you simply can't go wrong here.

I haven't actually had the ramen here yet, but I've had a few of their smaller bites and they are delicious! I love their curry rice, with vegetables. I've bought it to go before for lunch and it didn't make it out of the parking lot. The slider is very delicious. Just make sure you have a lot of napkins cause its a delicious kind of messy. The pickles with it are bread and butter pickles which are one of my favorites. They go very well with the slider. I thought the karaage was a bit oily, but that was just me I think. Still pretty good. I had my ARANET4 with me today, and even sitting on the bench next to me in a booth, it was reading in the 500s. That's some really good ventilation. The restaurant was lightly filled so that might have helped. Parking's not too bad. They have their own parking lot. No shade trees though. I will definitely come back here again.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Ramen Tatsu-ya in Houston, and I must say, it was a truly delightful experience. From the moment I walked in, I was captivated by the chill vibe and aesthetic that the place exudes. The ambiance sets the perfect tone for a relaxing and satisfying meal. The culinary journey began with the karaage, which was a crispy and flavorful delight. The perfect appetizer to whet the appetite for what was to come. Moving on to the main event, the SHO-YU (Tonkotsu) ramen was a symphony of flavors. The rich and savory broth paired harmoniously with the tender noodles and expertly prepared toppings. It's evident that a great deal of care and skill goes into crafting each bowl. One of the highlights of the evening was the Hibiscus tea sake drink. This unique concoction added a refreshing and unexpected twist to the meal. The balance of flavors was spot-on, making it a delightful companion to the ramen. All in all, Ramen Tatsu-ya left an indelible impression on me. The combination of the relaxed atmosphere, delectable dishes, and standout drinks made for an exceptional dining experience. If you're a ramen enthusiast or simply someone in search of a memorable meal, I wholeheartedly recommend paying a visit to Ramen Tatsu-ya. Your taste buds will thank you! Five stars, without a doubt.

This is one of my Texas comfort foods. Lol I say this because I moved to Austin about 10 years ago and went to the original location every Sunday. I got two paperclips on my table number because I always got double extra noodles. 😂☠️ Anyways, I love this place so much! You really can't go wrong with any ramen you choose but I normally do stick to the Mi-so Hot or the OG chicken based broth. Get some small bites - my personal favorite is the korokayyyyy. The employees are so kind and well trained. The decor is very on brand with the original location and boss move by buying the lot next door to create ample parking for guests. Music is always on point and maybe link it to us on your social! Take some pics next to the lucky cat in the front! Super cute

A giant lucky cat was beckoning us from the corner of California and Ridgewood in Montrose. I got a classic chicken broth and my dinner partner went for the spicy pork. They were both absolutely delicious. This is not your typical bowl of ramen. Garnished with a slice of soy glazed pork belly, soft boiled egg and a slice of nori. Chopped scallions float atop my clear chicken soup and atop her creamy pork broth. We slurped and enjoyed the Japanese surroundings. We were so glad we tried the pan fried brussel sprouts WOW 😳 how could they be so good!

The ladies at the counter were super nice and patient while I was trying to decide what to get. The food is good, the broth is really rich and delicious. The decor is awesome. They don't have sweet cocktails, which is my preference, but the drink I got was mild and refreshing. I'd get it again.

You might think you’re ready for this level or coziness, tastiness, and happiness that comes together with this place. But you’re not. No worries, none of us were. Hehe. My gf and I have been coming here for years and we don’t see that changing any time soon. Her fav is the mi so hot, and mines is the tsukemen. Their seasonal items are great too! What you see in the picture below is the Mt. Fujiro which is one of their new items. Just know that the food here is delicious, the people who work here are awesome, and the setting makes you feel like you’ve left Houston and gone to ramen heaven. Just go. You and your belly can thank me later. 😏 🍜
