Review Ruggles Black - Houston

December 15, 2023: Christmas party was held at Ruggles Black; first time dining in the establishment (a colleague and I have ordered to-go before), and I was impressed with the cuisine featured on the menu (different than what was seen to-go). The beef empanadas, calamari and crab spring roll appetizers were delicious (and quickly eaten - sorry, no photos šŸ˜…!). The pistachio crusted snapper was fresh and tasted excellent; interesting fig topping was on top of some of the fish, and the vegetables were fresh and well prepared. My colleagues were kind to let me take photos of their cuisine. Jose was a patient and attentive waiter, responding to our many questions about the menu. The dessert options are what set the bar; they would give Cheesecake Factory and other well known dessert places a run for their money.

My husband has been to their previous location. This is our first time here. We love it so much! Lovely vibes with the light and the big tree out on the patio. Smart casual and wear whatever you like. The food is super delicious! Very good cocktail as well! Plus, enclosed and empowring bathroom šŸ˜† We got a spicy paloma cocktail, crab tower for appetizer, paleo pistachio snapper for myself, keto pepperoni pizza for the husband and ended with the keto lemon cheesecake.

The dining experience was excellent with delicious food and desserts. The atmosphere exuded a cool and hip vibe, offering a variety of paleo and keto options. The bread pudding was excellent and a great finishing to our night. Despite a busy night in the restaurant the chef personally visited our table to ensure our comfort which was really nice touch. A definite must-visit, and I look forward to returning.

I went on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. The food was amazing. We shared the crab tower. It tasted great and was very colorful with the tomatoes, avocado, and sweet potato crisp. For the main course, I had the goat cheese stuffed chicken, it came with vegetables. Every bite was full of flavor and if you love goat cheese, then this is a meal to try. All plates served a good portion and were filling. Dessert, we shared the almond joy cake. It was also impeccable. We will be back to try more meals. They do have valet parking

In my opinion, one of the best restaurants in Houston. There's a reason Ruggles has been around for decades. The chef never disappoints. We visited for HRW. We had the goat cheese salad (OMG best salad I've had in a very long time), crispy oysters, grilled chicken with tequila butter, tandoori filet mignon and we both had the white chocolate bread pudding (hands down one of the best desserts, a MUST have). All our selections were amazing. Service was a bit slow and lacking but we were there during peak time Saturday night, no excuse but we didn't mind because we got to enjoy their frozen sangria while we waited. Very good also. We tried their CBD guacamole and that was delicious as well. I wanted to mention the amazing food first but it is also an esthetically beautiful restaurant. Overall wonderful experience.

Houston restaurant week is currently going on at Ruggles Black is participating. One quick note is ruggles black is it's valet only, however the valet does accept any form of payment (cash app, CC, Etc.) The decor of the restaurant is very unique as you'll see in one of the photos. Adrianna did an excellent job. The $25 Houston restaurant week includes an appetizer, main and a dessert. Food: Appetizer I ordered the brussel sprouts. These were excellent! The brussel sprouts were crispy and paired beautifully with a soy sauce. Main entree I had the beef short rib pasta. The dish came out extremely hot which was great. The beef was tender. While the sauce was good but nothing to write home about. Dessert: this was my favorite part of the meal. I ordered their bread pudding which comes in a ramekin with a scoop of ice cream and a raspberry sauce. It was rich but light. A perfect way to finish the meal. If you have have never been now would be a great time to go while Houston restaurant week is still going to sample several things from their menu.

The flavors at this restaurant were incredibly delicious and complex. I got the crab pasta and fried oysters. I would also recommend the tandoori chicken. While the noodles were slightly overcooked, it didn't detract from the overall enjoyable experience.

Enjoyed dinner at Ruggles Black. The ambience is very sexy with beautiful chandeliers, accent walls, which are black and gold. Keinya was our waiter and she was very attentive and friendly. For drinks I ordered the Bourbon Billionaire and my husband had the Keto Margarita. Both had a good flavor but a little too juicy for us. For our Entrees I had the Paleo Beef Bolognese which was good. What I loved is my vegetables were seasoned well, not soggy and had a good crunch. My husband had the Lamb Burger and it was enough for two people. The burger was very delicious with a sweet and savory taste. The food and service was great my only complaint is when we were seated our booth had crumbs from the previous group. Will be back due to the various paleo and keto options thatā€™s offered.

Was invited to this place with a few friends. We made reservations for Friday night at 7:30. We arrived about 15 minutes early. Valet parking was excellent and only 5 bucks. We were greeted by a friendly hostess who seated us promptly. The atmosphere was exquisite and very lively. We ordered 3 appetizers. (Sorry No Pics). Angry Shrimp - a little spicy but tasted amazing can't skip on these. Brussel sprouts - Not a fan of normal brussel sprouts but these are not normal. They were amazing got to try these. Crab Stack - Just look at the pictures on their website. As beautiful as the picture is it taste even better. This also has to be ordered. Once we finished the appetizers we moved to the entrees. I ordered the Paleo Pistachio Snapper. Pictured. There is no way to adequately describe the flavor explosion that took place in my mouth. Wow!!!!! The fig compote really complimented crab meat and the snapper. I will be back and have all intentions on ordering this again. I highly recommend this dish. My wife ordered the CBD Infused Fillet. It was prepared medium. It came out perfectly. Not medium - rare or medium -well. It was also absolutely wonderful. Once we had cleaned our plates the chef/owner walked to our table and visited with us. He seemed very friendly and I ended up asking him which desert he recommended. He suggested the white chocolate bread pudding. Well as if every other dish we had eaten was not amazing this dish also topped this list of most amazing bread pudding. The food at Ruggels Black is on another level but the wait staff, valet team and head chef/owners really make the difference. I look forward to going back even if I live almost 2 hours away. It was well worth the drive. I'm sure you will think so as well.

We had Kurt as our server and he is so kind and an excellent waiter. The food is amazing!!!! The desserts are so delicious. Complements to chef Bruce, we love your food.

It's always a great experience at Rugles Black. Staff is very accommodating and welcoming, the decor looks gorgeous and of course the food is amazing. We love to sit in the outdoor space at night, it's tented so you dont have to worry about rain and they have a beautifully decorated tree and lots of greenery.

If youā€™re on keto or paleo diet and want to enjoy a nice dinner this is the place for you! The keto entree I had was spaghetti squash bolognese which was absolutely delicious and for dessert I had the keto lemon cheesecake! They even had keto margaritas. The ambiance was nice for date night, girls night, or even a solo dinner! The only thing is thereā€™s no self park so you have to pay for valet to park literally in front of the restaurant. Prices are reasonable

Celebrated our great friend's birthday here and they been regulars here as well. We've been to this restaurant on their old location and we liked it a lot already and then covid happened. All I can say this new location is way better! The food, service and ambiance are still spectacular! Will come back here now from now on with our friends.

We went for dinner on a cold night and the only table-we got was outside by the heater. Their food options are amazing. They offer, vegan gluten, free, keto, and Paleo items. you need to make a reservation in advance if you need to get in. The portion size is not huge, but the price is expensive.

Came on Monday night that had free valet with courtesy tip. We wanted to try it for HRW and was seated immediately even though we did not RSVP. Cozy upscale interior that had an upbeat atmosphere with the music. HRW menu had great options as I got to try the goat cheese salad with the branzino which were both delicious. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his snapper taco and miso salmon. Dessert was a little underwhelming compared to the first and second entrees but we will definitely be back to try other dishes!

Fabulous, Delicious, extensive menu with naturally Gluten Free dishes, plus many Vegan and Paleo ones too! Wide Variety of Awesome Desserts. Great wine selecting and craft cocktails. Recommend the Calimari (almond flour crusted - WOW), Tall sashimi + crab + Avocado + salsa Tower & chips - all GF. Big Salads. Amazing Pecan crusted Red Snapper, even GF sweet potato crunchy fries. And OMG... the desserts!!! The GF Berry- coconut Cobbler with Creme Fraiche & ice cream on side is the Best Ever! So many choices. Excellent wait staff, Beautiful White linen tables and Crystal Chandaliers inside, or pretty tables outside with hanging lights.
