Review Ciro's Italian Grill - Houston

Some of the better Italian food I’ve had in a while. The place was absolutely a roar with people, so they’re doing something right! Our server was spread a little thin for whatever reason, so we ended up with really slow service. The bathrooms were also so dirty my son opted to hold it. Other than that, I woulda gave it 5 stars. Despite a few lackluster details that evening, I trust those were anomalies, and I’d be back. The salad was delicious, the shrimp spinach pasta with white wine sauce was fantastic, the desserts were spot on. Even my son’s spaghetti was good!

We had a large party celebrating a birthday. We reserve the upper room, which is spacious and set apart from the rest of the restaurant. It was very nice & we enjoyed having our privacy. The service was great! The food was delicious. The overall vibe of the restaurant is very nice. My kids kept calling it "fancy". There was a terrace area that we walked over to enjoy and allowed our kids to run around and enjoy the space while we continued our conversation with family. Highly recommend the place.

I recently dined at Ciros, and it was an exceptional experience. The food was nothing short of amazing. The staff was not only friendly but also highly professional, making the overall dining experience a true delight. From start to finish, Ciros delivered on taste, service, and ambiance. Highly recommended!

Traditional Italian restaurants with lots of options to eat. Usually packed in the evening the few times I’ve been so plan ahead or order take out. They usually have plenty of drinks and desserts to choose from. At the door, you’ll be met with a sign that talks about dressing and stuff so dress appropriately…. I don’t think they care, I never know. It just caught my attention as I’ve never seen it anywhere else. Definitely check it out.

Great lunch at Ciro’s. Friendly customer service and fresh, hot food. Mr. Ciro walks around making sure his guests are being taken care of. Nice experience

Our first time visiting this great family owned establishment in the Memorial area. We stopped in starving on a Saturday afternoon not really knowing what was in store for us. At first glance, I thought this may be another Italian chain restaurant, but that was far from the truth. As we walked in the vibe was extremely friendly and customer focused. Our waiter was amazing, he told us the history of the restaurant and pointed out the family photos displayed all over. We ordered the calamari as a starter, the breading was perfectly seasoned and crispy. The marinara dipping sauce was sooo good and you could taste how fresh it was. My daughter had the chicken alfredo which was spot on. All the pasta was homemade and cooked properly. My wife ordered the Straw & Hay "Gina, " a linguine in vodka sauce with bacon-wrapped shrimp. Really well balanced. I ordered the linguine and clams in a white wine sauce. My only complaint is that I wasn't told the clams were not fresh in the shell. I've never had chopped clams in this classic dish and I wouldn't have ordered it if I knew I wasn't getting fresh clams. Not terrible, but lacked that deep clam flavor. For dessert, my daughter ordered a scoop of their house made gelato, really good. Then to top the day off the waiter brought us a complimentary slice of their Mama "C" pie. This was the ultimate slice of pie. Thank you Ciro's for an amazing meal, we will be returning soon to try more of your delicious fresh dishes!

This is a lovely restaurant in a great setting. If you have kids, I'd recommend sitting outside so they can run around in the grass area. The food was nice and the service was prompt. Making your own pizza was my choice and there were plenty of toppings to choose from. The kids portions are big but tasty. I went for cheesecake which was delicious but would feed two. The kids had gelato which the cookies and cream was a bit too sweet.

the service was great, the happy hour was good but the entrees were ok. I ordered the shrimp ciro and the sauce was watery and lacked flavor. I declined the parmesan thinking the sauce alone would be enough but later added parmesan for more flavor. my bf ordered like a seafood king of pasta. it’s was ok. the bread was amazing, very soft. the appetizer was good, we ordered the butternut squash. over all it was ok, the service was great but the food was just ok.

The flatbread and dipping oil to start were good. Service was good too. The calamari was okay. I ordered some spaghetti and meatballs, which was decent. They have a cute play area for kids in the back, turfed. The decor inside was neat, and it has a romantic atmosphere almost. Overall not too crazy about the food. It was good, but not out of this world. If I went back, it would be because the service was good and the decor is nice.

I very much enjoyed the trip here. It is a nice restaurant, but it didn't need to be too fancy. Great atmosphere, all of the staff from the folks at the front door to the wait staff were professional and courteous. The food was amazing. Fried cheese sticks were some of the best I have had. I had the Sausage and Peppers as well for an appetizer, and it did not disappoint. The sausage was full of flavor. I had the stuffed chicken breast, and it was delicious. My daughter had a half lasagna, and they accommodated her special requests with no questions asked. It was about $90 for 3 meals and 2 appetizers, so not an everyday thing for us, but will gladly go back.

First time with coworkers…had lunch and it was pretty good. The food was excellent and service could’ve been a bit better. It wasn’t terribly busy, but our server was not as attentive as he could’ve been. At one point, I believe it was the manger that came over, we had to ask him for more of their delicious bread, as our server didn’t or wouldn’t bring us more. Overall good experience and ambiance and food…will definitely be back. I had the potato gnocchi Milano and fried risotto balls! Yum! Took a slice of their coconut split pie to go (strawberries n cream w bananas)…have yet to eat that, but it looks tasty.

Went here for an early Valentine's Day celebration with my wife. Had the Fried Calamari appetizer, the Straw and Hay "Gina", the Spinach and Garlic Tortellini with shredded rotisserie chicken and Tiramisu for dessert. Our server took good care of us. Atmosphere was welcoming and pleasant and a little on the formal side. Food was excellent and we had a good time. The complimentary bread (warm flatbread with olive oil dip) was different from other places and was very nice. First time and this place is now in our top 3 for Italian.

My friend and I went to Ciro’s to celebrate both of us passing our Real Estate Exam. The restaurant & restrooms were very clean. There is a beautiful courtyard outside in the back with outdoor seating for restless children it would be a great area for them to enjoy. Our server was Corey, he was very polite & attentive. We had a pizza, Lentil soup with chicken and a salad. The food was delicious! Thank you Corey for our dessert, that was very sweet of you! We will definitely come back! We had a great experience and definitely recommend this place!

Rediscovered an old favorite

A few years ago I ate at Ciro’s quite often but have not been for quite a while. So it was great to get a reminder that it is a really good Italian option on the west side of Houston. We had a business lunch for about 8 people, the service was impeccable and the food excellent quality on the menu or with the specials. Fabulous home made bread on the table, then the dishes were interesting and really good to eat.

Why is this the new trend in restaurants that are trying too hard? When you order water, you get a glass and large glass bottle with water. Why is this a thing? No ice. What is going on with restaurants not wanting to go through the time it takes for a waiter to come fill up my water? Also, the bread served here is not what I expected. The bread at Ciro is the consistency of pita or naan bread. Not good for soaking up the oil and herbs. My spaghetti was good overall. Nothing to write home about, but really no complaints. When it’s all said and done, there’s 1000 Italian restaurants in Houston. Nothing here has me begging to come back.

Olive Garden quality with higher prices. Very average Italian food, I don't see quality there. Servers try and push salads on you and the wine list is nothing to speak of. we were a party of 4 with four different dishes and nothing stood out.

Stopped by at lunch hour on my birthday to see my mom and sister and her husband. The hostess was puzzled as If we crashed someone elses private event. The table was quickly cleared by the waiter who was given a hint by a staff member and the tab rushed to us.The food was great but the experience wasn't very welcoming.

DO NOT ORDER Fettuccine Clams with wine sauce. I usually go to Ciro's once a month to meet up with my friends for lunch. As always, I like to order new entrees on the menu. My worst mistake is to order the Fettuccine Clams today. You imagine that it would be pasta with clams on the shells. How wrong I was. It came out with clams all chopped up from a can. No hard shells whatsoever. If they do not stock fresh or even frozen clams for any reason, the best way to handle this would be to let me know this item is not available today instead of serving it to me this way. Especially when it cost $16.95 for this!!!. Unbelievable !!!

Chicken fettuccine & quail. I have eaten at Ciro's about 20 times and I had tried the chicken fettuccine about 5 times but, the last time I tried it, it was better. the chicken was moister than before. I didn't think they could make it better but they did. I cant wait to try their other chicken dishes to see if they have gotten better. 2 more thoughts. if you like quail, be sure to try their quail. it is very good. If you have never tried quail and thought about trying it, then this is the place to try it. They do a very good job

Great food... Great service...
The food quality was fantastic. Reasonably priced. I highly recommend.

I need to get out more often for lunch!!!. My boss rarely lets me out of my cage for lunch, so I don't get to visit Ciro's as much as I should. I had the opportunity on Friday, so I jumped at the chance and WOW, I had forgotten how good the food was.

The waitress was friendly and made sure my girlfriend and I were taken care of and comfortable. My friend ordered an item off the menu, I ordered a chicken dish that was delicious. We spent an unhurried hour and a half enjoying the atmosphere, our food, and even took time to admire the gigantic pots of herbs on the way out.

Yes, I will be back. Thank you.

Pasta with bacon wrapped shrimp. Pasta was okay but there were only 3 small bacon wrapped shrimp with it. Don't think the waiter smiled once, but we were a large party and the gratuity was built into the check. No real need to put forth any extra effort on his part, I guess.

Horrible Experience!. 03/17/2013
I had an aweful experience at that restaurant. It was my first time going to Ciro's. Got there, ordered a table for four ppl, the waiter barely talked, we had to ask for water(basics in any descent restaurant), then he served us and kept coming to look at our table every two mins, as soon as someone was done with their plate he collected the plate. We asked for ice for our water and we were trying to enjoy the enviroment, it was a beautiful decoration, so as a family from another city we were trying to have a nice time together, but it seemed that as soon as we were done, the waiter kept coming more and more often to the room and started staring at us, then came the fat grum,py guy that decided to stand behind my in-laws and then told the waiter in spanish to remove the rest of the things from our table. The guy didn't even say excume me, hen totally invaded our space, the fat grumpy guy did it too and even worse. I had to tell him to stop , we were having a family conversation and he was interrupting, the guy gave us an attitude and told us he had to do that. That was the worst experience ever. Also, why do you put people that can't even pronounce the food on the menu correctly and even mistake a calzone for pizza? We will never go back there and I will be telling my friends and everyone I know about how horrible it was.

To the guy that wrote the food was bad
LP. Maybe it's your rotten taste buds that are your problem!
Their food is the best you dorky SOB!

This is a pleasant establishment. Conversation is at a great level and service is top notch. The Italian flatbread with the herb seasoning is a winner. The Caesar salad needed a little more seasoning and salt. The Spinach Liguinie was so good. The whole garlic cloves was pungent but so tasty. It is not a date food. Lol. I will be back and forget the chain restaurant of Olive Garden across the freeway.

Awesome. We discovered this place quite by accident and we ended up there twice a week for the next 2 months :) This is now my favourite place in all of Houston.
The atmosphere is casual, bright and comfy. The food is always delicious and plentiful. Their garlic bread is the best of all the Italian places I have tried. It is also reasonably priced.
The service is excellent.
Must try!

The cup of Minestrone soup was delicious, and the roasted eggplant marinara was well executed, but needed a little salt to pick it up. Great service, and they do offer smaller portions of all their entrees.

Excellent Service. Came in on a busy Saturday night and opted to sit at a table in the bar area with no wait. Very Good lasagna and had awesome service in the bar area! Wait staff super friendly & fun atmosphere.

Tasteless and Overpriced. We have eaten at Ciro's several times over years, and it is always "hit or miss" - it is not consistently good or bad. Its convenient to where we live, which is it's main and only attraction for us now. As another reviewer states, Ciro's serves mediocre Italian food for the price. Last night I had what amounted to a handful of shrimp, spinach, and linguine boiled and served floating in salt water, which was supposedly a white wine and butter sauce - no herbs, garlic, or hint of real seasoning at all. Hubby had equally tasteless salmon, with bland mashed potatoes and veggie. The house salad was even boring and bland. If you want good quality, tasty Italian, go a few blocks down the I-10 feeder road to Collina's. No, I don't own or work for Collina's. I know what's good Italian food in this area at a fair price. Ciro's isn't. FYI - if you live in the area, the new location for Gugliani's on Kingsride @ Gessner is open now - we'll be trying that one tonight.

Didn't know it was possible to produce awful tasting Italian food but Ciro's figured out how. No matter how cheap it is, it's too much.

Tasty food. Not gourmet or prices.

But I dont like corporate style places. It's fine if you're looking for sub-par Italian fare and have a huge family to feed, but I would rather dine at places that serve authentic food and strive to make a name for themselves in the restaurant world. Ciro's disappointed me, but it may not disappoint the average diner looking to accommodate a crowd or a picky eater.
