This food was very flavorful. I got the bunker hill I believe it was the chicken and shrimp pan seared it was a little spicy and the Denver roasted which was savory and sweet. Our side was the macaroni. The service was slow our drinks didn't stay full, we had to wait between our appetizer and order our entree. Overall it was good.

If you’re looking for a place for lunch or dinner that is slightly more upscale without going too far in that direction, then a good choice is Jonathan’s the Rub, an American food restaurant with Italian options. This local chain has a few locations in the greater Houston area and this one, on Campbell road right next to Interstate 10, is the one I have visited the most times and each time has been pleasant for multiple reasons. I usually visit here for lunch because the location is very convenient to my job. The lunch menu consists of sandwiches, burgers, salads, Italian foods, and an assortment of other items that include everything from shrimp to porkchops. Whatever taste you’re craving, there is bound to be a food option to match. The dinner menu is similar, with just a few adjustments. My favorite lunch item to get at this restaurant is the Rub Burger. It’s a large burger topped with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, and jonny sauce. It’s well- seasoned and served with a side of fries. It’s a filling lunch that will satisfy your appetite all the way to dinner, and perhaps beyond. The burgers all include eight ounces of meat, so you are almost certain to leave feeling full, and you might even need to ask for a box to take some home. For dinner, there are many excellent items, like the chicken parmesan, Denver roast, blackened pork tenderloin, and others. They have vegetarian options as well, and a full bar so that you can find just the right drink to pair with your meal. I have had good experience with the service at this Jonathan’s location, too. And if you like dining outside, they offer that option. Jonathan’s the Rub is a little pricier than other restaurants. But the slightly more upscale vibe, the attentive service, and the portion sizes make it worth the money. I like the open kitchen concept, too, because you can watch the food as it’s prepared. It’s a good restaurant option overall, and one I recommend for lunch or dinner.

Went here for the 1st time and sat at the bar. The service was quick and excellent, with great suggestions. The Triple Smoke Burger was awesome and the Prickly Pear Tequila Sour was just what I needed. Will definitely return.

The restaurant has moved from the tiny spot I remember 15 or so years ago. Easy parking… nice bar and restaurant atmosphere. The host and our waiter were extremely friendly and attentive. Food was good. The bacon wrapped scallops were delicious and grandma’s cheesecake was just as I remembered it! Family style sides allow for easy sharing the prime ribeye oscar and filet were good!

This review is specifically about their thanksgiving take out menu. We ordered their fried turkey and gravy and it was extraordinary. Great flavor, clear instructions to reheat and organized pick up. We hope to continue picking up our turkey from Jonathan's - just don't forget to order it early!

Jonathan’s the Rub has become my go-to dining destination, and for good reason. Its convenient location, outstanding service, delectable dishes, and delightful drinks make it an absolute favorite of mine. Located a mere 4 minutes away from my home, this restaurant has effortlessly woven itself into the fabric of the Spring Valley community. One of the standout features of Jonathan’s the Rub is its impeccable service. The staff's attentiveness and genuine warmth create an inviting atmosphere that makes every visit feel like a special occasion. The culinary offerings at Jonathan’s the Rub are nothing short of exquisite. Having tried an array of dishes, I can confidently say that each visit is a journey of flavors and textures. The fried dumplings are a delightful starter, bursting with flavor and perfectly crispy. The sweet chili shrimp is a personal favorite, offering a tantalizing balance of sweetness and heat that's simply irresistible. And who could forget the beautifully presented glass of prosecco, a refreshing companion to any meal. Beyond these highlights, the lemon drop cocktail, lobster sliders, and crab cakes further exemplify the culinary prowess of the establishment. The lemon drop is a zesty and invigorating treat, while the lobster sliders and crab cakes showcase the restaurant's dedication to quality seafood, prepared to perfection. A group of friends and I visited Jonathan’s for brunch; there were six of us total. We loved the convenience of being able to park right in front of the restaurant - not in a garage or having to use valet, and we were welcomed right away upon entering the double glass doors. The decor is upscale, but the atmosphere is relaxed and laid back, which we appreciated. Since we don’t see one another often, my friends and I are sometimes noisy, but we felt comfortable laughing amongst ourselves. Our waiter, Roman, was personable, attentive and knowledgeable. We started with the strawberry and hibiscus mimosas - DELICIOUS! Between the six of us, we tried the bacon-wrapped scallops, the lobster tacos, the gumbo, the redfish, the shrimp and scallops over grits, the pancakes and the chicken fried steak and eggs - AMAZING! The portions are very nice; none of us finished our entrees. We will definitely be back and certainly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Delicious dishes and great service with Mgr Sam. A wonderful adult like atmosphere for a Saturday at 5pm. Try the wine, Silver Oak, you won’t be disappointed.

Still looking for the ultimate fries. Did not find them at Jonathan’s Rub…BUT I did find the ultimate Onion Rings. I’d come here just to get the rings, they’re that good. The fries were good, just not great. Well cooked with a very nice spice on them. Crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Nice texture, just not the ultimate. Menu looks really good but didn’t try anything on it. Prices are high so expect to pay a good amount for dinner with a date.

What a truly wonderful place to eat. When we arrived we unknowingly walked in the side entrance and was greeted by Jonathan himself. He was very cordial and welcomed us in to his place. From there the experience was elevated with every employee we interacted with. The food and drinks were good. The environment was fantastic. Highly recommended!

I'm guessing this is a family owned business because everybody on their team was in a great spirit which makes the costumer experience 10 times better. The food has so much flavor in it and all the portions was large. I felt like i was eating on that pork chop for 3 days. If I lived here I would visit here weekly. You would think you need a reservation for this place but we didn't do go enjoy.

Curiosity satisfied about this restaurant. Location is excellent, right off I10. Service is friendly but perfunctory. The mussels were really flavourful, the shrimp was nice. The chicken fried steak was also good. It is a bit pricey.

Update: the menu has changed since they moved. I miss seeing my old favorites. But the food and service is still good. Adding photos from recent brunch. Supporting this neighborhood restaurant one more time before they move to their new location. Will defiantly miss being able to walk over to this fine restaurant. Food was fabulous as always.

Haven’t been to JTR since the Gaylord store’s closure. Pleasantly surprised. Contemporary interior with a bar. Friendly services. Plenty of options on the menu (even for lunch). Can’t beat its value-for-money price. Two course lunch menu for $20.

Got the Thanksgiving fried turkey. When I picked it up it was a room temperature with reheating instructions. Given the size of the bird, it was probably sitting out for several hours. Kinda gross. The meat was extremely dry. Not worth the 85 dollars. The sides were good. Revising review because the GM called me. He apologized with sincerity and offered a refund. That type of ownership is rare. Thank you!

We decided to try Johnathan's The Rub because of Houston Restaurant Week. First Impression: Johnathan's is a nice restaurant. The bar area is nice, with granite counter tops with high back bar stools. The dining room is classy yet causal. We love the open concept cooking area.. We did not have a reservation so we sat at the bar. The server took our orders quickly and our food arrived hot to the table fast. The gumbo with super meaty with actual crab in the soup. It was really tasty. The Chili Shrimp were good. The wedge salad was excellent. The crab cakes were average. The Chicken Pamassean was excellent, however it was so huge. It will take days to eat it. The shrimp & girts were savory and cooked to perfection. They ran out of white chocolate bread pudding, so we had brownie sundaes which were delious and one slice of Nutella cheese cake it was ok. Yes, we would definitely return. I took a star away because everything was so good, I high hopes for the crab cakes, yet they were a disappointment. Give Johnathan's a try. Delious ❤
